Chapter 638 - 637 - The New Law
Chapter 638 - 637 - The New Law
Shi had to leave her brother behind as terrifying lighting had slammed into him. She could only pray he made it or everything would become moot. She carefully waited far away as her hearing and sight came back until the large meeting hall came back into focus.
The flashes of lighting were ongoing so Shi could only make her way down the hall back to the battle. She no longer heard or felt any shockwaves of battle, but Xing had not come tearing out of there.
Even the Fiend would have to hold back from the tribulation so Linghu was safe from her at least, but Shi felt her heart thunder inside her chest. She was incredibly aware of her body and the processes it used to stay alive at that moment.
It felt as if her mind was trying to memorize each moment she was still alive because Xing would plunge her into a fate worse than death. As her possible final moments could be happening right then, she felt time stretch out.
Each step was like walking through mud until the now shattered doorway came into sight. The hall had no cracks but the doors were broken completely. Shards of wood, metal, and other refuse littered the floor.
She heard nothing, not even breath which made her own catch. The worst case scenario was not Xing's victory, but a pyrrhic victory! She began to move faster until she saw something shocking!
A dark gray and withered corpse lay on her left. The floor, unmarked in the hall, was now distorted like it had been burnt by high intensity heat. She felt revulsion just looking at the corpse but she took some joy in it.
Xing was dead!
She then felt fear grip her heart as no other sound was in the room! She slowly looked towards the wreckage of the bed and saw the still body of Lind! Tears fell as she raced over but then a black cylinder floated in front of her harshly.
"Protean, it's me! It is Shi!" The cylinder twirled for a bit before letting her pass. She raced to his side but there was no breath or beat of his heart! Blood soaked his robes but she could not find any injury.
"No, no, no, no!" Victory was not a bad thing but the price was not acceptable to her. The Two Rivers Alliance would fracture without him. The self interest would rip everything apart and invite war without Emperor Lind Frey to unify them.
She did not want that. It would give an opening for the Soulmancers to carve out a place if they acted quickly enough to only rise up again. The nightmare they had almost crushed could come back!
"Please no, I can't let you die." She started to use her old skills but then was repulsed by a flash of light.
"You do not need to worry, human. The progenitor is still alive." A voice suddenly spoke from the very air before a vague flow of Qi seemed to slowly solidify into a humanoid shape. It looked like a living weaving with sigils floating inside it!
"W-who are you?" A feeling of amusement and kindness came from it. It seemed to have all 6 elements getting thicker but only to a point.
"I do not have a name you could pronounce. We have not had common names in a very long time since the darkness descended." The figure slowly floated over Lind's body but Shi could only see he was not breathing. Her panic seemed to be welcome to the strange figure.
"Your brother and the progenitor had a resonance of spirit. They were also still connected when the Immortal Tribulation began. Normally, that would be lethal for any outside to interfere, but that idiot and the Fiends angered Heaven and Earth greatly." Shi felt awe fill her body suddenly. It was like the air had become charged with Qi.
"Are you a spirit?" A small laugh came from the being before it shook its head. The action made the shape distort and scatter until it slowly came back together.
"I have little time but we are of the Realm. We are born from the pieces you have all left of yourselves in the Qi and Heaven's will." Shi racked her brain for a species like that but nothing came up until an old legend came back. It was a story her parents read to her when she was a child.
"Elementals?" A smile was discernible in the head area as the being then looked up.
"I think Heaven, the progenitor, and your brother all resonated at that moment. A great deal of pent up anger is being unleashed on those that deserve it outside our cage. The progenitor will return when Heaven and Earth are done with him. He will benefit from this experience greatly." The figure began to disperse but Shi also felt a shift in the air.
The once dark arrays lit up and the flow of air became fresh. Sunlight suddenly streamed in through places where walls had once been solid. She blinked her eyes until she saw something like the Inner Garden of Orwellia Empire.
She looked out on a wondrous open plains with white pavilions set up in certain areas. The silence was a little odd but perhaps beasts could be allowed to come up to the Core Hall.
As she looked out, a creature of lightning descended. It had a being made of emerald light in its claws but it was gentle with it. Shi felt fresh tears as it came in through a window before letting go of the emerald light.
It returned to its home as her Master took a breath and life returned to his body! The creature slowly dispersed but she felt the profound nature of it. It was also then that she noticed the sound of lightning had ended.
Had her brother died? Wasn't it too soon for an Immortal Tribulation to be over?
She wanted to check, but Lind could help if he was with her. She carefully approached but he opened his eyes before looking around oddly. His aura had increased! He was at the absolute peak of the Moon Tier so soon!
"What–what happened?" Lind looked like he was half awake but she relayed what she had learned and comprehension appeared in his eyes. "It wasn't a dream? How was that even possible?"
She had no answer but she became more concerned about Linghu now that her Master was fine. Lind saw her face before he nodded and stood up. He seemed perfectly fine.
"Let's go." Lind smiled as he followed her back out. They moved at a swift clip back to the Law Core room when a vibration flowed in the very stones of their feet. Lind then looked confused as he began sweeping his head all around.
"What is wrong, Master?" Lind looked around a bit longer before he summoned a simple flame in his left hand of emerald Qi. The instant he did, Shi felt it. There was an echo all around them while that flame existed.
What was going on?

Linghu was transformed but he felt odd. Xing had been preparing him, however unwilling he had been, to become an Immortal. She had described how long it usually was and how refining the Law Core and Law Arrays would make it even longer, but he felt like very little time had passed.
He looked at the sphere in front of him and felt several differences. He had shifted the Laws once more to remove the flight restriction as well as a few other things Lind had passed along from the Immortal flood dragon.
It was a group effort, but he felt connected to it and saw the world very differently. He could see how Laws of Gravity and Air flow now were all around him in the structure to make the base of the special realm.
He saw Laws of Illumination and so forth all around him. He could not grasp them all but he felt joy at the feeling of Heaven and Earth as he looked within.
Where his dantian had once been a blazing sun, there was now a tiny sliver of multifaceted crystal. It was much more dense than his sun elements had been with another change.
Before, it felt like he was controlling his dantian remotely, but now his soul felt like it was part of his cultivation. He understood he was no longer bound by aging or injury. He could even live without his body for a time.
It was like how he knew how to breathe or move his limbs, it simply was. If his body was going to die, he could discard it now!
He focused more on the Law Core and saw how he could manipulate it. The crystal Seal was a good medium to carry outside the room, but inside, the Law Core was best. He saw the battles had settled in Perot Empire as the imperials and nobles were being executed or fighting to the death.
It still had the scars of the war but the fleet now defended or hunted down the straggling forces. It had all fallen so quickly but it was all due to the power Lind Frey had brought to bear.
Linghu finally felt the oddity. There was a new Law inside the Law Core but it was not one he knew at all. It was an ephemeral stream of emerald light laced in the Law Core and Arrays yet it did not break the matrix built inside.
Instead, he felt like it made it all stronger than ever before! What kind of Law was that?!
He also felt it was the cause of his tribulation resolving so quickly. It was an instinct but he trusted it.
"What Law is that?" Linghu tried to study it but it defied him! Even as an Immortal, grasping new Laws was not easy. Without a firm foundation, the Laws they held usually fed off each other. Trying to grasp a Law without a reference or extensive experience was nearly impossible to pull off.
"It is mine." Linghu jumped to find Lind and Shi behind him. She ran up to him and hugged him, but he saw something impossible. Lind was looking at the Law Core without any pain!
A Heaven Realm should be in terrible pain as Laws were far above them until they got to the peak of the Sun Tier. It was why he could look at the Law Core before without too many issues.
"It is yours?" His question seemed to snap Lind out of some trance. The man looked at Linghu before he summoned a small flame. The instant he did, Linghu felt the Law Core respond!
"Xing is dead. Let us study this and plan our next steps. There are still 2 Empires left to conquer." Linghu then smiled as he had good new.
"There is only 1 Empire left to conquer. Hilden was Xing's personal playground. Only the Soulmancers are really free there. She made the rest of the Empire her puppets." Lind's face turned cold but then waved his hand.
The jade stones shifted to show a panicking Hilden palace and cities as nearly all the nobles, large merchants, and other organizations had lost all their leaders suddenly.
"So it is. The war is over then. Let's bring it all to an end below and see what we can do together. I am happy to step down for you 2 to lead the people going forward." Linghu laughed before he pointed at the Law Core.
"Your Law is in charge and I have no desire to rule. My sister is alive and Xing is dead. I can die without regrets! I will follow you!" Lind looked non-plussed about that but simply sighed before holding up his hands in surrender.
"We will discuss it later. We need to settle the last 2 areas and go from there. We have a lot of work to do." Lind turned and the siblings followed him out. Linghu felt complete trust looking at the broad shoulders of the man in front of him.
A man who could snatch power wanted nothing to do with it. A man that freed them from the long nightmare yet was happy to give credit to Linghu. Such a man was worth following. Linghu looked forward to the future!
