Chapter 616 - 615 - Kin
Chapter 616 - 615 - Kin
Lind was contemplating the whirlwind of the day. It had started with simply exploring the forbidden areas of the city but exploded into one terrifying revelation after another. Further, they had found an impossible being!
It was a massive storm and left him feeling both coldly furious and hollow. How could he fight that Fiend? He clearly had a firm grasp of the other Sun and Moon Tiers.
His puppet army was far larger than any likely realized. Xing was trapped and limited by the Law Binding but she too was working on her freedom. He had 2 monsters ready to unleash Hell on the lands of the 6 empires.
He felt a twitch of his mouth as he realized he was the 7th empire even if only fledgling compared to the others. Even the newly formed Empire of Hope far outstripped his population.
He looked at the jade pendant and saw it was rather unremarkable but simply created to absorb Qi. It then glowed with earth and darkness Qi to make a slight pull. The odd shape made him think it was half of a whole, or maybe a third?
The people escorting them had good night vision but he could clearly see they were in a tunnel system. He also noted their clothes were not as well maintained as they should be but their weapons were in excellent condition.
Swords, spears, and bows were easily grades 5 to 6 from what he could tell. They were not profound but in excellent condition. They were also well maintained as his Forging eye could tell.
He also noticed several peak grade 6 formations inscribed into the walls of the tunnel. They were dead now which told him they hid the spatial tear to that point, but now it was gone. The quick commitment told Lind that Aiden had already known who he was, if not what he was.
"How are you so calm right now?" Lili was used to being the hunter, not the hunted. He could tell she was still absorbing the shocking level of information from the last few days. It had shattered how she saw the world afterall.
It was too much too quickly by any standard but Lind knew it was not the time to address her concerns as a light appeared at the end of the tunnel. He could already tell it was artificial but before they could walk too far, he felt the pendant flicker in his grasp.
A commotion echoed down to them before a slip of a girl came sprinting at them. Lind felt pain lance his heart as he knew that face. He had just seen it.
The only difference was that instead of the raven black hair of the portrait, she had vibrant white hair he had seen all too often.
Her narrow face and red lips matched the portrait of the other woman so much but he knew that woman's fate. He also saw a glint of Qi around her neck that matched the pendant. Lind slowed as the girl looked around excitedly as her eyes adjusted in the dim light.
She waved at some of their escort who only half heartedly waved back. A few turned away in guilt. They knew what the collapse of the tear meant.
"Father! I am here father!" The excitement and joy in her voice made Lind flinch. He saw Tal and Fey's faces at that moment and wondered how they felt when they thought he had died.
They never told him but the hopeful look about to be crushed would likely haunt him all of his days.
"I–I am afraid Aiden is not here, Kin." Lind slowly held up the pendant. Kin froze. By her vitality, and cultivation of Soul Realm tier 7, she was only 30, maybe 40 years old.
In terms of the Heaven Realm, she was definitely still a child.
"Why–why do you have Father's piece of the amulet?" Her voice trailed off as tears began to form. Lili also felt a catch in her throat. Lind noticed that he had been right. It was 3 pieces but Kin only had one.
He suddenly realized Kin only had one. He slowly looked at the pendant in horror.
His body lit up in emerald flames as his skin became covered in scales.
"THAT BASTARD HAS THE FINAL PIECE!" His aura made all tremble and even Lili felt in awe despite being a major Tier above him! "HE TOOK IT FROM HER! HE KNEW WHAT SHE MEANT TO HIM!"
Lind's rage was breaking the stone around him. He knew Fiends were vile bastards but to their own family?! He had turned his children into puppets and experiments and when one found a sliver of happiness, he took it away!
Kin looked at him and only wept. She knew what having the pendant meant. Her father was dead. Killed by her grandfather, the same as her mother!
She collapsed but was caught by a gentle flow of emerald light. It was warm and comforting. The vertically slit reptilian eyes were not cold at all like the many beasts she had fought, but warm.
"This is yours. Your father wants you to be free and by all that I am, I swear that monster will pay!" Lind had chosen a new goal. He had planned to learn what he could from the rebels and get back to his army.
He was going to conquer Requera Empire before coming back to route Orwellia. He no longer wanted that.
He had been hunted, nearly killed, and watched far too many die to Fiends, but a father doing such a monstrous act to his son was the final line. It was the one line no one could cross in his eyes.
"Lind, calm down. We have to get your army if we have any–" Lili tried to reach him but his massive head swiveled. In those cold eyes she saw only the words he had spoken. She saw all he had left out in his private war against the Fiends.
He was not a scholar or a politician. He was a dragon in human skin! He bowed to no one!
"War? I will not wage war. War is for those on a level playing field. He is an insect and I will squash him!" His emerald flames raged in the cavern as suddenly 18 elements danced in the air around Lind.
He engraved into the air with his claws as all the things he had learned in his life came together and an idea was born.
He had seen formations and weavings used together, why not all 3 elemental sets? Why couldn't he weave with them like the ring in his dantian?
His mind went back to the array in the Barren Realm and in his own mortal realm. They were not teleportation arrays.
They created bridges in the void. Just like the one they had used to escape. It was so simple now.
He understood the true potential of Celestial Qi and why it was damned difficult for him to use.
Natural elements were the basis of all Qi in the mortal worlds and even up to the Heaven Realm itself. Demonic Qi was refined from that Qi and was thus only on par with it but clearly had come from an idea.
Celestial Qi, like the name he called, was a much higher form of Qi. It was not simply recreated forces of the world, but of the universe at large. Realm boundaries, special realms, and even an idea for an Inheritance Realm all passed through his mind in pieces.
He was not there yet but he was closer. He was grasping when suddenly he felt a restriction.
A tether seemed to slam over his comprehension before he was forcibly reverted to his human form and coughed up blood. He had never felt anything like it before but he knew the source.
"So, the Law Binding really does stop someone crossing that boundary." Lind realized he had almost become a grade 7 weaver! Yet, the rules of the Law Binding saw him as an Immortal Realm being at that point and attacked him.
He saw his moon glow to protect him from the worst of it but also that his false brand was gone. He was now a peak high Moon Tier. He had to stabilize himself due to the backlash from the Law Binding.
"W-what was that? It was beautiful." Kin's question snapped all of them out of it as they noticed the tunnel around them had changed. The once dead inscriptions glowed at full power as they had not done for centuries.
"I think I touched on something I am not allowed to here. In my rage, I finally broke through." He may not have reached grade 7, but peak Heaven grade 6 was easy to him now for weaving.
For the first time, his weaving had progressed past his other 2 professions. It has also laid the seeds for a lot of comprehension later. He had an idea about himself. He understood he had been so focused on helping others he viewed himself the same way but he was different.
He was a dragon, true, but he retained his human cultivation. He also had all 3 derivative professions which thus far no one else had.
"Kin, I apologize for my temper, but like your family, mine is a bit complicated. I have a message too." He carefully placed the pendant in her pale hands before he whispered Aiden's words to her.
She wept openly and grasped his robes. He carefully picked her up and the group moved forward once more in a more somber mood. They entered a massive cavern with many tunnels leading outward.
Lind knew he had much to learn but he would not change his mind. Timat had to die! He would kill the Fiend with his own hands!

Xing stared in pure shock at the Law Core. It had a crack! It was slowly healing but it had a crack! How was such a thing possible? The flood dragon did not have that kind of power, nor did any Immortal beast.
The only kind of Immortal that could crack the current Law Core would be a Shard Tier! There was no sign of tribulation anywhere in the Law Binding so how could a crack form?!
Suddenly she felt cold. She recalled the near impossible feats of the war over 70 years ago then. A mere Moon Tier had been able to fend off her Sliver Tier power attacks! He had used his professions, but he still did it!
What kind of monstrous comprehension was that?! In less than a century, the intruder had touched on grade 7?! Heaven grade 7 at that! It was the only way a crack could form.
For the first time in a million years, she felt fear. The binding would stop a new Immortal Realm from being born aside from Linghu due to his compatibility, but a simple grade 7 master would be like a God in the Law Binding. It might not stop the intruder if they figured out what happened.
She quickly sent commands into the disc to find any sign of the intruder's movements. She had to kill them! Now! If they kept growing, nothing could stop them!
