Chapter 615 - 614 - Failed Experiement
Chapter 615 - 614 - Failed Experiement
Lind felt his world was full of mystery already with his rebirth and harmony issues, but the fact that Fiends were once Celestials led to once more revelation in his head.
He had never found natural resources for Fiends in mortal or Heaven Realm. None of his wives reported anything from the information he asked for and even the Barren Realm that was under full control for untold years had none.
He has assumed the background Fiend Qi in Orwellia was actually from some kind of artificial source but he now knew it was the massive number of puppets made from Fiends. There were so many and so poorly controlled their Qi was leaking.
If that had gone on for over a million years, it was inevitable but also it proved no source could be born in the Heaven Realm or it would have been by then.
Now, Lind knew why.
The name of the Immortal Realm lands was called the Celestial Fields. The fields where Celestials are born!
Delenn knew nothing about such a race but Lind did. He now knew what happened to them but not why or when! They were the Fiends!
"What is a Celestial?" Aiden looked curious and the difference was night and day compared to a normal Fiend.
"It would take too long to explain but suffice to say, I think it was what your race once was. Have you converted a living cultivator?" It felt surreal to ask but he had to know. Aiden's face darkened but then shook his head.
"I was an experiment. Father is not exactly hiding his lack of care for his children, but he wanted to know if a Fiend could trick the Law Binding. I am 1 of 3 that did. I am the only one left now." Lind nodded but then felt cold at the next words. "Father used the other 2 to prove consuming a cultivator triggers the Law Binding but giving it to me from him does not."
So, Aiden had not killed but he had benefited. He was still a Fiend or maybe a partial Fiend would be a better term.
"How did you cultivate?" Aiden seemed happy to discuss that before other things as he revealed an array in the floor of the chamber. Lind was shocked as he saw something familiar but far more profound.
It was just like the Ruin! It was converting natural Qi into Celestial Qi. He observed Aiden cultivation but saw the problem instantly. It was very slow! Impossibly slow to advance.
"I got to the Sky Realm this way but father forced me into Star Tier when he added souls to my life force." Aiden then looked chagrined as he continued. "Father considers the whole thing a failed experiment as I can never convert a cultivator and leave the Inner Garden."
Lind noted that but he then realized a few things.
"The Fiends found Orwellia had all this already, didn't they?" Aiden nodded.
"It is the oldest empire to survive until Immortal Suzen betrayed my father and Xing. There were others but they are all dead. My father is trapped inside the Inner Garden and Xing survived somehow." Lind's eyes lit up.
"You know the real history?!" Aiden nearly jumped back as Lind leaned over him but he nodded. A few jade slips appeared that were mid grade 7!
"These are the original records. Father saw no need to get rid of them as they have come in handy in continuing to control this empire from the Inner Garden. A human actually made this place possible." Aiden then looked up at them in confusion before continuing. "Why would a human want absolute control?"
"There is far too little time but I will cherish these." Lind put them in his ring before he glanced at Lili who looked at him as if he was insane. "Adapt or move on, but we have little time. Am I correct?"
Aiden nodded.
"I found you when I felt something like an echo to my own Qi. I felt nothing like it before and found you floating out in the open there when my father was culling the forest." Lind nodded as his artifact used trace Celestial Qi for its efficiency issues.
"I am called Lind Frey, this is Lili. You may know her already." Aiden looked at her for a moment before his eyes widened.
"Soulmancer!" Lili bowed but felt surreal once more.
"The short version, we were simply scouting when we learned the massive oddities of this empire. I need not say more, yes?" Aiden quickly nodded as it was clear. They were not like other residents!
"Your brands are not real then?" Lind nodded. Aiden felt amazed but then he turned serious.
"You can stop Xing but my father is another matter, you understand? He has been able to hone and polish his power for over a million years. Further, he has actually prepared for when the Law Binding falls." Lind recalled the massive room of puppets and looked down in horror.
There was no way that small room covered over a million years!
"I see you understand. Yes, he has control of the Sky Realms and Heaven Realms completely while they control the puppets." Lind felt a shiver in his spine but then looked confused.
"If this empire existed long before the brands and Law Binding, why are we unaffected?" He had thought he understood but then Aiden looked dark as he pulled out a scroll from his own storage ring.
He unrolled it and Lind felt rage broil. It was an overview of a far more primitive brand.
"My father likes to brag that the humans made their own noose, he simply took it farther and wider." Lind finally understood. The Law Binding was not randomly chosen for that area. Suzen was simply a convenient target and likely volunteered to come there.
Fiends planned in the long term and were meticulous. The long game simply left him feeling crushed. Humans, aether children, and demons simply could not plan like that because they always fought on the individual and group level against each other.
Fiends plotted but still had the patience of a Budda to achieve their goals.
"You want to bring my father down?" Aiden suddenly asked. Lind had no reason to trust that far but he did not bother denying anything. Aiden was already dead if his father found out.
"Why?" It was the more important question. Lili felt left behind as the 2 talked. She felt like they should be moving more slowly. What was the rush?
"I am going to die soon. Whether on a whim or because my father simply knows I do not see things the way he does. I have seen his plans and all the cultivators will be turned into fodder before they know what is happening." He then looked out and grabbed a portrait on his desk by the window.
It was a raven haired beauty but the portrait was very old. The wood had worn spots and the pigments had faded, yet the smile could not be faked. The artist was very good. As Lind looked around, he saw several very lifelike paintings hung on the walls.
Compared to the ostentatious examples in the halls below, these were exquisite to Lind's taste.
"It may be hard for you to believe, but I had a woman I loved. I was lucky enough to spend several happy centuries with her. She never denied my selfish requests to stay in our courtyard, but I was naive." Aiden's tone then became enraged.
"He broke her mind and made her believe she had never loved anyone but my father! He laughed and told me I had good taste in ants! It was right before he put her soul force into me!" Tears fell and the awkward atmosphere was hard to break for most, but not Lind.
"I destroyed my father's kingdom for what he did to my mother and aunt with 2 others. I left him to die of old age with no cultivation." Lind's tone was ice but Lili noted he kept a lid on his harmony.
His emerald eyes were full of nothing but murder. He had already shown a desire to attack the Fiend before, but now it was very personal. Aiden turned around shocked but realized time was their enemy.
"We must go, but I give you this." A dark jade slip was handed to Lind. He realized it was the same weak Celestial Qi he had seen Aiden use. "If you really are who I think you are, then you must trust me. I can't send you back out the front but there is a place I can send you."
Aiden then touched a crystal torch by the right side of the balcony. Inside was a spatial distortion but it was very stable.
"On the other side is a group of rebels. They are not powerful but they can get out in small numbers." Aiden then paused as he seemed to consider something before he gave a jade pendant to Lind. "If you can take a young girl with you. Her name is Kin. She…she only knows her parents are dead."
Lind looked over and realized things had happened fairly recently.
"He learned about the child?" Aiden nodded but the fact a child existed spoke a lot about the things Lind had wanted to know.
"Go, they will be here soon." Lili was confused but Lind simply grabbed her arm and left as space twisted around them. It was the last thing she saw before the wall closed up.
They arrived in a sheer black cave but bows were aimed at them until they fell slightly.
"Who sent you?" A voice called from the dark. Lind held up the pendant with a flicker of his harmony. Once the people around them saw it, they took a gasp before they lowered their weapons.
Before they moved far, the stable tear collapsed. Lili was confused until it suddenly came together.
Timat was not a fool. His son suddenly showing up after such a horrific thing had to signal something to him. She realized Aiden was already dead! She had only met him for such a short time and learned so much but the man was dead!
"What–what would Timat do to him?" Lili felt afraid to know but Lind was cold when he spoke.
"Consume him. The soul would then be refined in his dantian for the next centuries or millennia depending on how fast Timat decides to do it." Lili suddenly felt anger rise in her.
"He has to die!" Lind smirked at her declaration but he knew it would not be so easy. They had the best shot if they had been prepared but it will not be allowed again. Still, he knew Xing was in the dark about her companion for a reason.
Timat had no intention to share the Law Binding with her. It was a veritable safe haven to raise resources and create a power unto himself with no worries about the war.
His plans had changed but he now knew one aspect that had not. Requera Empire could fall and Orwellia would not lift a finger! Xing would be in for a nasty surprise.
And while the Fiends postured, Lind would go in for the kill!
