Chapter 590 - 589 - Laws
Chapter 590 - 589 - Laws
Lind returned to Lanbao's side and really examined the strands as best he could but they were beyond him. The fact he could see them spoke more to his expertise in making elixirs than anything else.
"So, you wanted to know about the Law Binding? I will need to explain a few things first. What do you know about the Immortal Realm?" She loomed over him again but her question was valid.
"I think I know a bit but not nearly all of it. The overall picture I understand. An Immortal Realm is a cultivator that has truly fused their soul to their cultivation. It means their body can die but the soul could endure for a time." She nodded at his words but both knew that was an overly simplistic view of the cultivation known as Immortal.
"I also know, like with the Heaven Realm, there is a vast difference between the actual tiers. Unlike Heaven Realm and below, each tier will add to the lifespan of a cultivator. There are 5 tiers." Lind sipped at some tea before continuing as he recalled the long talk he had with Master Delenn and later others.
He smiled as he recalled old friends and his adventures in the Divine Inheritance.
"The Sliver Tier is the first and lowest tier, but it is a massive increase to lifespan and power. Almost a million years lifespan is possible. The quality of a breakthrough can add to that but no more than 2 million years if at the Sliver Tier." Lanbao was surprised at the level of detail he knew.
"Who told you this?" Lind smiled as he relayed only about Delenn. He kept the Skinwalker Inheritance to himself out of self preservation.
"A Crystal Tier is trapped in your mortal realm? It would take an 8th circle weaver with several formation masters to pull off such a feat. It would also be very petty." Lanbao had deep disapproval in her voice but she did not doubt some pathetic young master would go that far.
"Yes, I know that each Immortal Tier requires a tribulation as well but again, the quality varies yet she did not explain them to me very well. The first 3 tiers of Sliver, Shard, and Crystal seemed straight forward, but the last 2 of Radiant and Sovereign she was very vague."
Lind had gotten a bit more in the Skinwalker Inheritance but not even the dragon soul that trained him for facing his progenitor tribulation spoke of it much. He only warned Lind he would face harsher tribulations than others.
"It is simply that the concept of it will not make much sense or cause harm to know too much too soon. Still, you know far more than I expected. For you and I, life span is practically unfair, but that is a conversation for when you are in the Sun Tier and close to your breakthrough." Lanbao nodded but then paused. She seemed to consider something before nodding to herself and a formation lit up to isolate them.
"It is not something to be heard by others. An Immortal tribulation is related to their comprehension of Laws. Qi still plays a roll as it has to be condensed and fill the dantian as always but the names relate to each tier. Sliver is the beginning of Laws and the anchor of your soul both."
Lind felt enlightened. He knew the cultivation names were actually quite literal but Immortal Realm seemed very opaque. He now understood why that was. Laws were far beyond him still despite his deep comprehension of the elements. Laws were not limited to elements alone!
"A Law Binding is a 3 part action. Size does not matter, it only needs the 3 components. The most difficult and critical is a Law Core." Lanbao paused again as she tried to think of how to explain such a high level concept to Lind.
Lind, however, felt his mind enter a special state as he looked at his moon. It was his harmony but was also now all 6 elements combined. What made them different? What governed 6 elementals having harmonies but Heaven Realms do not?
"A Law!" His voice snapped and Qi swirled around him like a storm as his Moon Tier finally reached the peak of the mid tier! He had struggled so hard but it suddenly exploded forth until it settled down.
The harmonies were Laws! No wonder they were so difficult to grasp and understand. Each 6 elemental grasped bits and pieces but it also explained why cultivating was so damned hard for them! They had been given a Law from the very beginning!
"What is a Law?" Lanbao was curious as she had felt the massive shift of Qi, but she was stunned more that it only shifted his cultivation slightly. That amount of Qi would take most cultivators much farther.
"Hug?" Lind snapped up but then felt frustrated. He had grasped something important but it slipped away again. Still, it felt close. He was not completely lost from it. He looked as his moon and was stunned how far it had come.
"I am sorry, you had an enlightenment and I ruined it." She tilted her head down and truly felt guilty. Such moments were rare.
Lind waved it off as he knew if he could not hold onto it, it was likely a bit early for him to know.
"Do not worry about it. I have struggled much already, I will find it again. A Law Core is what exactly?" Lanbao bowed again at his generous nature and continued.
"A Law Core can be made from grade 7 crystals or jade but it has to be made of something related to the Laws concerned. For instance, a water Qi crystal could not hold a Fire Law inside it." Lind nodded as that made sense. "Jade is the best medium but requires some refinement for the Laws to be imbued."
Lind understood that as well. Jade and similar stones were highly compatible with Qi. Qi stones were a form of jade to his mind but he gave up arguing about that to others.
Something suddenly occurred to Lind. He had seen Sky Stones even in the Two Rivers citizens hands, but he had yet to see a Heaven Qi Stone. Why?
"Once a blank core or premade core is ready, it can be imbued with the Laws an Immortal has grasped thus far. It is helpful sometimes to study the Laws outside the dantian as they flow outside your control." Lind nodded but then frowned and looked up at her. His question was plain. "Correct, aether beasts do not need such things, only cultivators do. Aether beasts Laws are intrinsic for the most part unless we have a fortunate encounter."
Beasts continue to have a different path to other races. Aether children were likely similar.
"Once a Law Core is made, it can then be set up in a Law Array. As the name implies, it is a kind of formation but rather than strictly Qi, it again uses Laws." Lanbao saw Lind was having no issues so she continued. "Compared to a core, Law Arrays are fairly common as they help with comprehension and even aether beasts use them."
Lind could imagine the power of a Law Array and then looked up. Things clicked into place.
"I see you understand. Unlike formations that produce a certain effect, Law Arrays are strictly governed by the law used to make them until a Core is introduced." Lind thought of it like a computer.
You could have all the circuit paths and cards set up to run, but without the CPU to govern the machine, all you had was a layout of the motherboard. You could see what the computer could do but without a CPU, it was just a model.
"Once the Law Core and Array connect, an Immortal can control both to finally make a Binding. It is an establishment of an Immortal's laws as a physical existence in the world. Inside the Binging, the Laws infused impose their rules on all inside while the outside world is unable to sense it any longer." Lanbao finished and observed Lind.
Lind's eye narrowed. He now knew why he could not find Ethry or others. It was similar to a realm but not quite. He was still in the Heaven Realm Lands but cut off by the Binding alone.
"So after the Law Binding went up, Suzen removed all obstacles and gave the Soulmancers so much power?" Lanbao shook back and forth to indicate a shrug. She did not know.
Her sight was limited when it came to the Empires.
"All I know is that only a few centuries after he set it up, Suzen disappeared. The Soulmancers rose up and it has endured far longer than it should." Lind slowly nodded but it made him very suspicious.
"The way you described him, how did Suzen pull that off?" Lanbao huffed in frustration and Lind knew he had struck a chord in her.
"He should not have been able to make a Law Core that profound. A Law Array possibly but not the core. The Binding is simply the end result." She clearly did not observe Suzen that much and it was normal.
Powerful elites ignored the outside world as they tried to advance or simply live their final days in peace.
"Could he use someone else's Core?" Lanbao again shrugged.
"I only know of what I said. Law Cores are not easy though and the odds of the Laws being the same as his were unlikely. Such a powerful Binding should not come from such a pathetic human." Lind nodded but then a dark idea came to him.
"What about Fiends?" Lanbao snorted but her aura flared.
"Heaven and Earth be thanked, Fiends cannot make Law Cores, Arrays, or Bindings." Lind was confused. Fiends were not pleasant and made many vile things but surely an Immortal Fiend could do what any other Immortal cultivator could?
"I do not know the reason but they cannot. If they could, the war would have been over long ago." Lind's face darkened as he realized the same thing. Just Immortal Suzen's Binding caused such misery. Fiends could practically live forever if they could shard off pieces of the Heaven Realm like that.
Suddenly, Lind shot up!
He saw the skills of the Soulmancers once more in his mind but especially the woman that attacked the Two Rivers several years ago.
The way they used souls had always confused him. It was far too many but the brands, the techniques, and now the oddities with Suzen added up.
"Fiends, the Fiends used Suzen." Lanbao narrowed her eyes at Lind at his words.
"I have thought this for awhile but after how you described Suzen, he would be a perfect target for them. Entitled, low foundation, and just wants to enjoy his life forever. I think the Fiends can't make a Law Core but I would not put it past them to have one tailored for an Immortal in their employ to use." Lind could see it now. If a jade Law Core was made, it had the most flexibility and then they just had to get thralls or other cultivators to make the Core they desired.
Yet, Suzen betrayed them at the end. He made it so the Law Binding attacked all Fiends everywhere. If any survived or had a Thrall safely tucked away, they could bide their time and not arouse suspicion until it was too late.
There could even be a cabal, but they were trapped. The Binding would see them as enemies if they showed their true face so they could only hide inside the human bodies!
"If what you say is true, it would explain many things but also be terrifying. If the Fiends can tailor make Law Cores like this, it would be a massive blow in the war." Lind nodded but doubted it was that easy.
Suzen likely paid a price for his betrayal but he could not be killed or the Binding would fade. The only way to know was to find where he was being kept or hiding and see the truth for himself.
"I thank you for that information, senior. I have one more thing to ask if that is all right?" Lind bowed and looked up at her. She nodded but then was surprised when he began to carve sigils around him
Suddenly, an emerald moon with profound craters appeared and 6 rings at even intervals that went beyond the surface of the moon surrounded it in a circle. There were 6 bright flows of Qi going into the moon as well.
"Do you have any cultivation techniques that might help me?" Lind looked up and hoped she had answers for him.
