Eternal Emerald Dragon

Chapter 589 - 588 - Coward Suzen

Chapter 589 - 588 - Coward Suzen

"What do you know about the Heaven Realm?"  Lind almost wanted to say he knew a lot but honestly he only knew one aspect very well at all.

"I know the Fiends are encroaching and winning the war.  The Alliance works hard but there are still those working for their own interests as always undermining them.  Also, some of the Alliance are far too arrogant."  Valkyrie flashed through his mind but he saw the flood dragon narrow her eyes at him.

"Ah, I forgot you have been trapped here."  Lind then explained all he knew of the Heaven Realm and his encounters with the Alliance members over the centuries.  She did not interrupt but he felt her indignation and horror at different points.

When he spoke of the Barren Realm and the Immortal Mountain she was shocked.  She bowed in respect to him.  Such things were both wonderful and saddening to hear as the whole history unfolded.

"So while I have experienced some of the Heaven Realm, I would never claim to be an expert."  Lind drank some tea as he looked up at the flood dragon.  He then smirked at his own rudeness.  "Forgive me, but I do not know your name."

The flood dragon twisted her head in confusion.

"Why would I want a human name?  I am–"  She proceeded to hiss and growl softly which felt like a small paragraph of a name.  Loosely translated, it came to the jewel of the sky water.

He was unsure what sky water was exactly but given the things he had already seen in his life, he would not be surprised to find a floating ocean somewhere.

"It is an impressive name but if I had to warn you or call out to you, by the time I finished saying that, you would be struck or plans could fall apart at a critical moment."  Her azure eyes narrowed.

"I care not what you call me."  He smiled as it reminded him of a few of his friends he had met in the Divine Inheritance.

"If you do not mind then, Lanbao seems appropriate."  Lind saw her tilt her head at 45 degrees before slowly nodding.

"Very well, I will tell you what I know."  She settled down and began to talk.  It covered many things but the gist was a summary of normal conditions.

The Heaven Realm was never a truly peaceful place but it was massive.  It was very possible for people to ascend from a mortal realm and never see anyone that came before them.  No one truly understood how ascension worked compared to the pools that were fixed points.

Lind frowned at that but let her continue.

Basically powers were divided up how he was used to.  Backwater powers were usually led but a Gold or Diamond Tier at best.  Iron Tiers could not defend from anything really since reaching the peak of World Realm was almost a certainty with enough resources.

Sky Realms could claim lands or sects often but remained lower powers until they got to tier 5 or 6.  Mid powers were the most common but were still fairly poor areas across the Heaven Realm.

The last 3 Tiers of the Sky Realm did not make the high powers save in numbers.  A Star Tier had to lead a high power.  Moon Tiers rarely led such powers as well but mostly they focused on condensing and enlarging their moons.

A Sun Tier led the peak powers with an Immortal leading the supreme powers.  It was possible for a Sun Tier to lead a supreme power that was well established like the Heavenly Maiden Sect, but those could be counted on one hand.

The division was random as an area defended and claimed was decided by its resources and the investment each put in.

For instance, the 6 empires inside the Law Binding were only peak powers bi virtue of their leaders reaching Sun Tier consistently.  Size of the empire did not matter, but the separation by the Hinterlands was quite normal.

Just as in the mortal realm, several powers could be subordinate to a higher power for protection and resources, but the 6 empires had once simply obeyed a single Immortal at the Sliver Tier.

It was not an unusual arrangement for Immortals to lay claim to a swath of land to funnel resources to them so few took note of Suzen who was not a popular Immortal back then.

The war with the Fiends was starting to burn up in the Celestial Fields and many were working hard to ascend to help out the Alliance and other righteous powers.

It was a long held expectation for all new Immortals to fight in the war against the Fiends but only when they reached the Celestial Fields.  There was also the question of ability.

Not all who became Immortal Realm were useful.

Suzen was one such Immortal.  The man had used various pills, treasures, and other external means to reach the Immortal Realm.  His foundation was frankly pathetic and it would not be wrong to say it was a miracle he had made it to such a lofty realm.

Still, he was an Immortal Realm.  His strength was still far above even the highest quality Sun Tier.  The gap between the 2 major realms was just that large.

At first, Suzen simply sat in a palace and hardly interfered with the 6 empires.  To put it nicely, despite having Heaven Realm rulers, the 6 empires were very weak.  They were too far from major trade lanes and no Inheritance nor Ruins were anywhere near them.

Such things were not uncommon in the Heaven Realm lands but the massive size made it much harder to consolidate them under a single power.

A supreme power might be able to control 3 or 4 such special areas due to their strength but otherwise it was lucky to even have 1.

Some special areas were shared, like a secret realm opening or anything like that but those were far from Suzen's concerns.  He simply lazed about and was uninterested in the war.

Lanbao paused to see if Lind understood everything as it was quite a lot of information but it was fairly in line with his guesses and the information his wives sent him over the years.

The major difference was where the war was fought.

Apparently it was fought in the Celestial Realm mostly compared to the current Heaven Realm issues.

Lind found that odd.

He pushed it back for the moment and waved for her to continue.

Like her, there were several Immortal Realm beasts getting ready to ascend or transform if they could find a bloodline to absorb.  It was the dream of many beasts to break the shackles of their lackluster bloodline and absorb a higher quality one.

That transformation and absorbing Qi took immense effort and time compared to all the lower realms.

In the Heaven Realm lands, a beast or cultivator could breeze through the Body Refining Realm to Sky Realm compared to the mortal lands.  The struggle they have down there was much smoother up in the Heaven Realm lands.

Suzen was a native of the Heaven Realm and had been spoiled by his family like many affluent young masters and mistresses.

Unlike the majority, he never actually did more than the minimum needed to advance aside from the external help because he was a coward.  He barely faced his tribulations with massive artifacts to get him through them.

Once he got to the Immortal Realm, many knew he would not be able to advance any farther.  So he was given the 6 empires to watch over and Lanbao rarely heard from him after that.

It was only when the skies shook and Fiends suddenly came out of the woodwork that the Heaven Realm changed.

The Heavens bled, literally, as Qi was disrupted from the Celestial Realm.  Qi flowed down the various worlds from above and suddenly it was disrupted violently.  It began to thin out far more than ever before.

Panic had flooded the Heaven Realm lands but Fiends tried to take advantage of it.  Many reclusive Immortals stood up and defended the world but Suzen did not.  The pathetic man seemed to have known something was coming because he erected a powerful Law Binding that should not have been possible for him.

The few Immortal aether beasts were suddenly restricted by the Law Binding as part of its support!  They could not fight it!

She did not know where he got such power from as Law Bindings were not so simple, but the point was what came next.

The 6 empires were fairly isolated so they had local names for many common aspects of cultivation professions and objects.  It caused no harm but back then all the professions were fairly equal.

Once the binding went up, there were mass executions.  Elixir masters, Forgers, and even formation masters were killed suddenly without reason.  Weavers became critical to keeping everything running and the empires wondered what was going to happen next.

The lid of the binding closed and lightning blasted across the entirety of the lands below.

Whatever else Suzen was, he was a coward and made sure all threats were killed stone dead.

Any Fiend inside the Law Binding were killed instantly.  As Lanbao knew of that, she actually did not mind as much.  Still, the binding endured beyond any expectation and the outside world was lost to them.

"Suzen at first ruled like a petty child but then suddenly disappeared after only a few centuries.  He was only half way through his lifespan to my knowledge.  Also, the binding endures so long as he does.  Somehow, he is still alive."  Lind understood.

If Suzen was halfway through his lifespan over a million years ago, he should be long dead.  Yet, the Law Binding endured.

He also had a lot of suspicions pop up based on its effects and also what could be used to make it so powerful if such a pathetic cultivator erected it.

It also made a lot more questions pop up but Lind had to fill in those gaps in his knowledge.

"Forgive me, but what is a Law Binding exactly?"  Lind knew that was the critical cornerstone of knowledge he needed and there was likely nowhere else to learn.

Lanbao nodded at him but looked up in concern.

"I need to submerge for a time and rest.  Being exposed drains me.  Think over what I have revealed and we will discuss the rest later."  Lind saw her dive below the water's surface and it was as if she never existed.  The swamp looked perfect!

The tendrils faded quite a lot and he realized what he was seeing.

"Spirit Qi.  It is spirit Qi being taken from an Immortal."  Lind frowned deeply as he understood more but he needed the information Lanbao could give him later.  He returned to his guards for the night to their relief but they made camp and he reviewed his knowledge and what he had learned when a question suddenly came to him.

Suzen was a cowardly, lazy man that amounted to nothing.  So how did such a man become so revered afterward.  Why would he change once he was isolated from the outside world?  Who had changed the propaganda of the history of the 6 empires?

Lind realized something was very wrong more than what was on the surface.  He looked up and wondered how deep the darkness went.
