Chapter 538 - 537 - Heavens Shake
Chapter 538 - 537 - Heavens Shake
The Heaven grade event was not as thrilling to watch but the Forgers and refiners at least had some action as they smelted ores in bright glowing fires and tools. Many were curious about the formation masters and weavers but their delicate work was boring to watch.
The elixir masters and alchemists drew some eyes as they finally shifted to cauldrons or mixing pots.
The aura of Qi could still be felt through the restrictions which made some cheer them on despite knowing they could not hear them.
The sun set and night came over the arena. Many stayed and watched as Moebius Sect began to prepare for the next day. All wondered what those 10 platforms would do but during the night, several powers had hair raising contact.
Lady Cara was an older woman but her looks were still mesmerizing. She had wisps of white tied back into a bun of golden lochs as her dark violet eyes stared at Lind Frey across from her.
"You want me to choose someone who nearly exhausted their potential at the peak of the Sky Realm?" Lind nodded as he had already had this conversation several times.
"I know none of your subjects made it to the top 100. Just as I chose from the elimination round for the testers of grade 3, I am doing the same for this part." He sipped at the strong tea in front of him. It was far more bitter than he liked but it invigorated his soul. He was intrigued by that effect.
"I have been a Star Tier for nearly 2000 years but none of my children have been able to break through. If I passed them up for someone nearly used up, what would they think of me?" Lind was prepared for that particular argument.
"They would want to know the process worked and be glad you tested it first before letting them try it themselves." He saw her eyes sparkle as she nodded at him.
"If you were not married, I would try to get you into my family." Lind bowed in honor but knew she would not press him to take a bride. His reluctance was known far and wide. Also, the condition to join his harem was not decided by him alone.
"Albert." She spoke a name and an ancient looking man stepped out from the servants. Lind saw he was indeed peak tier 9 but near the end of his life.
"My lady, surely Clarissa or Owen would be better." Lind liked that man already. There was no trickery or deceit, but honest suggestions.
"I have chosen you. If it works, they can earn a chance as I suspect others will have such a chance as well." Lind did not make any move but quietly sipped at his tea.
"I am pressed for time so if senior could please come with me." The old man had pale eyes that were nearly blind but bowed and followed him back to the arena.
There were already 9 others waiting.
"If I may ask, why our power?" Albert was flying slowly due to his age but Lind smiled back at the easy question.
"My mother once joined a sect under Lady Cara's control. They treated her well and in the chaos after the Fiend Event, she protected all cultivators under her equally." Albert smiled and bowed low once more. Lind saw no reason not to pay back a debt.
"All of you will report to Mythra before dawn. I cannot promise you this will work but you will have a chance. Grasp it!" He felt the conviction flow from the aged and tired people before him.
He was not doing charity but truly believed it would work. A vital and high potential cultivator would be no contest, but if it worked for them, it would work for everyone!
Lind flew off and simply went to the VIP suite to relax, yet found a person to annoy him instead.
"Elder Varys, you surely have no issues with revenue at this late hour?" It was only a little while until dawn but Lind saw the sniveling man sneer before he covered it up.
"Sect Master, I simply wanted to know why no one from Moebius Sect was selected for this august honor of proving your process." Lind narrowed his eyes before his dragon soul faintly appeared.
"Varys, I have put up with a lot from your Hall changes and how you approach things. Economically you are not bad, but cultivation is not all about playing it safe. Great risk can harvest great reward. No one in the Moebius Sect has used up their potential and further, we both know that is not why you are here." Varys shivered but then became bold.
"While the Babylon Guild has backed you on this endeavor, I have looked to the future and found that will not always be the case. We cannot afford the luxury of hosting this event every time. We need to make alliances to distribute the cost." Lind wondered who figured out that the Babylon Guild was only going to be involved in the short term.
Rather, they would not be so overt after the next few competitions. Afterall, if all went to plan, there would be no need.
"Varys, you are not bad at ledgers but you seem to have a narrow view of the future." Lind then sealed the VIP suite. The slim man paled but Lind did not care. "Watch and you will understand the depth of your error."
Kexin would wonder what he was doing but Lind was done with weasels in his sect.
The 2 men quietly sat as the sun began to glow on the horizon.

"Welcome all! Some of you have been here the entire night but it is time to show the fruits of the peak mortal grade experts!" Cheers came from the crowd as many were rushing to take seats.
Mythra was making some drool in her tight dress but all noticed the 10 people now sitting in the 10 platforms.
"Just as yesterday, we will now put the fruits of labor to the test. As some may wonder about the limit of 10, you will see why in a moment." Mythra then signaled the proctors who quickly set up the Qi condensers and Resonance Rods on each platform.
The ancient peak Sky Realms clearly were at the end or near the end of their potential. Yet, all of them down the elixirs and pills. Some even downed more than one elixir which stunned the masters present but all carefully looked on.
There were 5 humans, 3 aether children, and 2 demons.
At first, none were sure what was happening but then the formations and weaving lit up. Master Ye instantly understood what the weavings did! They isolated the platforms safely!
With such a weaving, multiple cultivators could safely break through to Star Tier!
All looked on but then felt the pressure of Heaven descend.
There was no tribulation for going from Sky Realm to Star Tier but all were stunned as profound Qi flowed from the sky down to the 10 platforms!
The skies seemed to rejoice as the 2 demons and 3 aether children quickly broke through to the Star Tier. Their white hair turned dark or gold depending on their coloring as wrinkles vanished from them!
They were now in their prime of life for a Star Tier!
Shortly afterward, 3 of the humans also advanced and became young again. The last 2 humans were an old man and woman. They seemed to struggle but kept going. Time passed and the morning became afternoon before the woman broke through!
She was crying as she saw her now plump arms and body restored! She was gorgeous and bowed low in the direction of the Moebius Sect VIP box.
The last old man was pale and it was unclear if he could make it when suddenly he shouted at the Heavens and a lightning bolt struck!
It was impossible!
Why did a bolt of lighting strike down but then all felt profound QI flow like a storm to the 2 rods as the old man coughed up blood but persevered and finally broke through.
His balding head became full of black hair and his wrinkles vanished! He was still exhausted but then Lady Cara descended and embraced him! The formerly old man bowed low to her and even lower to the VIP suite of Moebius Sect.

Varys was sweating.
Lind smirked at him and simply drank his tea calmly. There was no more doubt and the results spoke for themselves.
Any sane person would happily come back to the competition and further, Mythra began to speak once more.
"While complicated, Moebius Sect is willing to offer the elixir and other facets of what you see to those that want it. The materials are expensive but as you can see, worth every Qi stone!" Varys became hollow as he understood.
The grade 3 plans and recipes were free for a good reason, they were cheap! The peak mortal grade was not the same but easily attainable for many powers.
The profits from the sale of the elixirs and weavings alone would fund just about anything Lind could think of for a thousand years!
"You will step down as Treasure Hall master. You will not be kicked out of the sect but a price must be paid for trying to cross me." Lind did not even look at him but Varys nodded as he was completely defeated.
There was no medicine for regret and he only hoped the sect master would be merciful to let him ascend in the future.
