Chapter 537 - 536 - Heaven Grade Event
Chapter 537 - 536 - Heaven Grade Event
"Now that we have all calmed down, I will start the final third of this event!" Actual tension filled the arena as Mythra's voice echoed. Even the various guild masters and leaders of powers were staring at the stone oval below.
The arrangement was much more spread out than before. There were also clear signs of peak Heaven grade 5 masters setting up extra protections around each station.
The 100 competitors entered but it showed the vast chasm when Heaven grade came into play.
Elixir masters dominated at 45 slots, the most of any profession! They were followed by Forgers at 20 slots! It was an insane jump compared to before! They were usually in the minority but it was clear that if they could reach Heaven grade, the path was much smoother!
Alchemists then came back in with 15. Things then were left with 9 refiners, 8 formation masters, and 3 weavers. The oddity of weavers was understandable. The strange restriction on them by overcoming 1 and 2nd circle only let them get to Heaven grade 3.
It was still the peak and thus far only 1 man had been pushing the limits of it.
That was the other part that made all curious how the event would work. Peak Heaven grade 5 was rather rare, even in the elixir masters, there were only 4 of them. The average Heaven grade was peak 3 or mid 4.
The sudden enlightenment of Ishin the previous day actually put him ahead of many of the people in front of them but with a key difference. They could replicate their results consistently while Ishin would have to work hard to digest and comprehend what he had done for years.
"As you saw yesterday, please go to your area. Once you are settled, I will explain the next steps." Master Ye noted that the area of 10 platforms was heavily protected from the previous day but all else had been moved overnight.
Another difference was each proctor guided a competitor to an appropriate station as they seemed to have been tailored for each grade! There were again far more stations than before but Master Ye suspected there would be more in the future.
"Now, before we begin, unlike previous rounds, please be aware that all external sound will be cut off as there is great danger if things go wrong. Even with the best protections, we want to reduce the risk to our competitors as much as possible." Not a single master disagreed with that statement.
The general crowd booed a bit but they were a minority that like to incite chaos.
"Elixir masters and alchemists! You will find a jade slip embedded in each station. Examine it and follow the instructions as best you can. This portion will go into the next day so you may begin!" No one was surprised at the extended time. Peak mortal grade finishing in a day was a near miracle but Heaven grade was far more strenuous and had more steps.
Without enlightenment or a tool to speed things up, using equal tools left it all up to the cultivator to eke out what they could from themselves. The alchemists even worried it would be too short!
"Refiners and Forgers. You have similar instructions. There is one addition. Once you are ready to mold or shape your materials, pause and rest for half a day. There will be no exceptions." The odd instruction made many confused but the guild master of Silver Wings nodded sagely.
The intensity of working with ores and Qi could be more draining than many realized. Especially with a schematic never attempted before. The mandatory rest period gave them the best chance to succeed!
"Finally, formation masters and weavers. You will be looking at those 10 platforms. You will then study the jade slips in tour stations and follow the instructions." Master Ye was confused. Wasn't the whole point of the platforms to test the peak of mortal grade?
Still he noticed that once they finished studying the platforms, the competitors returned to their stations and began to gather catalysts yet never left their area after that.
What were they doing?
While many stayed, more than a third of the crowd dispersed to get food and drink in the various establishments.
Lind also stayed put but he expected 3 guests in particular shortly.
He was not disappointed as Lea, Hide, and Sasha came storming in.
"Where did you learn those things from?!" Lea did not even greet him but Kexin was simply smiling as Lind looked back at them.
"Surely you know my history? I was in a Divine Inheritance for a very long time. Did you think Lord Skinwalker was stingy?" He enjoyed their flinches but he then waved for them to sit before he had Kexin seal the room.
"I have been gifted a great deal that my disciples have been studying. What I put out was more than acceptable for a mortal realm to know." The 3 had no argument to that but it was a massive step forward. Still, his next words stole their breath.
"Why haven't all powers that send branches into mortal realms do this?" It would be simple to keep it under their banner but Lind saw them squirm and he had his answer.
"So, they send those that will not advance to Heaven Realm to start setting up supply chains and once that is done, they are finished working?" Again, all 3 flinched.
"Some powers have sent upgraded or completed recipes if they already existed in a mortal realm, but nothing like you are doing here." Hide stunningly spoke up and looked a little frustrated. Lind did not need to ask his next question as it was clear on his face.
"I don't think you understand the distrust mortal realms have for the higher realms. They also are stubborn and unlikely to believe a better way exists." Lea was not wrong but Lind still found the situation idiotic.
"Then show them! Look how easy it was! Do you think if the Heavenly Maidens or another righteous sect held such a competition they could stay away?!" It was blindingly simple to him.
Even if they did not have the uprising of derivative professions as he had inspired, it would still be better than the plodding along he now suspected occurred.
"It is not that simple. Your mortal realm is a bit special. You have a lot of resources that can flow from the lower continents to the disparate islands up here. Other mortal realms have full continents floating or more." Lea again tried to poke holes in his ideals but Lind scoffed at it.
"Tell me one power, one, that would turn down a way to improve breaking through to the Star Tier." Sasha, surprisingly, stood up and looked sad.
"One power would happily learn such a thing, but then stop any other power from getting it. I know you are angry, but it is not so simple. Even in your journey, you must have seen how many powers hoard their specialties." Lind nodded but it irked him.
"Your realm was almost invaded. They all saw how close it came and realized they need to get stronger, but you underestimate your effect on this mortal realm." Lea stood up and looked down at him but in a gentle way. Her good looks with her lavender skin were stunning at that moment.
"Part of the reason our Guild Master is so interested in you has been your effect on this realm. You are literally changing an entire realm by force of will at this point." Lind could not find words to refute it.
He had forged alliances and openly shared his discoveries but it was due to each incremental step and his progress that people took it seriously. His actions also earned him a lot of clout so that people listened.
His sect's meteoric rise also drew many eyes to his process and thinking.
It was not overnight it all happened, but centuries.
He was closing in on being 6 centuries old and seeing the fruits of his efforts playing out as the competition he put together working the way he wanted. Could each mortal realm be so easy?
He had the conditions, the backing, and quite frankly, the luck to let it all work out. Even then, he had nearly died multiple times. In fact he had died once, possibly twice as he was not sure if karmic restitution protected him near the Fortune Way or brought him back.
"I concede it will not be easy, but surely my theories could be released?" It was the foundation for all that followed. His realm was not the only one that had issues. The wyverns in the barren realm had benefited from his instruction as well as all the cultivators afterwards.
He wondered how things were going over there.
The 3 turned to each other before looking conflicted.
"While your theories have helped the lower realms, it is not as effective in the Heaven Realm." Lind suddenly felt something click into place.
"The Secondary Elements are not the same at all as Primary Elements then. They are added but it is all about the transformative step to reach Moon Tier." Lind had been talking to Star Tiers for centuries and more than a handful of Immortals.
As he looked at the arena his dark green eyes went out of focus for a moment but it slipped through his fingers. He was close to something! It was not weaving but something else!
He was simply not strong enough yet.
He looked over and saw the 3 staring at him in awe.
"What?" Lind did not understand but Kexin was also looking at him.
"Y-you just put out the aura of a Moon Tier!" Lind quickly reviewed his memories but it was foggy. Sasha's words did not help him exactly but he suspected it was his harmony that held him up on that front.
"I will have to take your word for it. I almost touched on something but it slipped away." They all nodded as they understood that frustration well. "Since you are here, I was curious. Who has tried to snatch up Junior Ishin?"
All 3 narrowed their eyes at him but then recalled Moebius Sect made no such request.
"Mostly high powers, although the Hellfire Sect surprisingly offered to take him on too." Lind nodded as he knew why. His demonstration showed that elixir master were flexible but the demons did not understand the difficulty of going from one set of elements to another.
"I am happy to have him come to a lecture as his lead will likely play out tomorrow as well." The 3 nodded at that as they all turned to watch the competition continue.
