Eternal Emerald Dragon

Chapter 536 - 535 - Opening the Doors to the Future

Chapter 536 - 535 - Opening the Doors to the Future

Few got much sleep during the night as the revelations of the peak mortal grade items spread excitement and much discussion between guilds and sects.

Thankfully, cultivators hardly needed sleep so losing a few nights worth would not affect them at all.

The excitement was now much higher after the discoveries of what was going on in the contest.

Before the main event, the grade 3 items were brought out once more.

"Good morning to you all!  Did you have a good night?"  Mythra was smirking as she winked at the crowd.  Even the VIP suites shook with the roar of the crowd.

"I am glad you are all back.  We will now have some pre-selected volunteers show off the grade 3 items!"  She waved her hands and 20 Gold Tier World Realms appeared.  The emblems showed they were from those that got eliminated!

Lind had been busy interviewing those that had been close to winning the top 100 all the way down to those that failed.  He had the help from his sect but even so, it had been a difficult feat.

The 20 that came forth were all looking over the vials, the pills, and other items before selecting what they wanted.  All noted that some picked from the crimson colored Forged items and the others chose from blue tinted refined items.

"As some of you may not know, the grade 3 artisans chose from a list of sets that enhance a cultivator of a similar nature.  With the 6 elemental cores, any cultivator can use them!"  All nodded as that was basic from yesterday.  Still, they were curious how the refined would stand up to the Forged items.

"For the sake of simplicity, the refiners made items for regular cultivators while the Forgers made demonic items!"  Shock flooded the arena as all had missed that key detail!  Now that some put a better eye to it, they noticed that 5 demons were the ones that picked up the forged items while the rest were regular cultivators.

While the most a cultivator would get would be 3 or 4 items at most, they all saw the armor, weapons, and artifacts glow with Qi once equipped.

Lind smirked as the schematics he had learned were clearly influenced by video games but had practical results.

It was possible using a cultivator as the connecting material to make discrete items actually enhance each other's effects.

It was still limited but the cumulative result was further enhanced combining the very 6 elemental cores he had pioneered but worked better when Forged.

It had been a happy accident the Moebius Sect had discovered when the Forgers and refiners worked in the same area and began to try things out on their own.  While there was not much that could work together, the cores were one part Forgers could make that made the refiner's work apply to any cultivator easily!

"Now, Team Midnight vs Team Crimson will commence!"  The arena had a clear area quickly made overnight but all understood it would not be normal sparring or combat ahead.  It would specifically test the items created!

"The rules are simple, attempt to shatter the equipment of your opponent.  Only what was created for the competition and use elixirs and pills as needed!"  All bowed to Mythra before she held up her hand and brought it down.  "BEGIN!"

The 5 demons acted aggressively and all were shocked when a chestplate and greaves glowed to make a shield!  It easily deflected the swords and polearms made for the Midnight Team.

The battle was exciting but limited.  The laymen in the arena wanted more excitement but the masters were salivating.  They understood!

The 20 people had picked the items they liked, not that were compatible!  Mythra's words had confused them but they grasped what they were seeing!

They had thought the grade 3 contest was simpler than the peak mortal grade one but they now grasped the point!

Universal tools!  True universal tools!

The 6 elementals had been able to make items but due to their limited numbers, no one had seen the combination of Forgers and refiners before.  Master Ye, despite being an alchemist, wanted to immediately get his guild to ally with Silver Wings Guild to make items for them!

The power put out was well above grade 3 as they all could feel too!

Still, before long, the shields displayed showed signs of failing as the Qi flowing in the armor and weapons could only endure so much punishment.

Suddenly, one of the demons pulled out the greenish elixir they had wondered about before.  It had been listed simply as Demonic Enhancement Elixir.  They all expected the demon to drink it but he instead splashed it on his cracking sword!

All were stunned as the blade began to heal in front of their very eyes!

"How is that possible?!"  Master Ye had bolted up and immediately sent messages to his counterparts.  It was chaos as the demons gained a second wind, but the pills made an appearance on the Midnight Team that restored their personal Qi very quickly!

Master Ye noted several elixirs consumed that seemed to regulate the pills too!

Elixirs and pills working together!

The battle continued until finally one of the Midnight Team's weapons shattered.  She tried to continue but her armor quickly followed.  Despite the loss of such precious items, the cultivator was unharmed!  She was only exhausted!

Still, once one went down, 3 more followed.  They clearly could not repair their weapons like the demons.  Still, a demon finally fell as they only had 1 elixir to use.  Once the shield fell, their weapon followed shortly after.

The resonance effect increased the weapon durability as well!

Not long after only 1 demoness and a single aether child was left.  The others watched on but the demoness held a pair of daggers as shadow Qi suddenly danced from her and she seemed to vanish in a crimson flash!

The aether child male was quick to whip his spear around and caught the demoness by surprise!  Still, his shaft cracked in 2 and her daggers directly broke his bracer!

Her shield had collapsed but her items were intact!

The demons won!

The crowd went wild while the various powers demanded details!

"Scores will now be calculated as each item's support was tracked and evaluated!"  The proctors looked blood shot but it was not even midday!  They had stared at all that was happening and a few had been stunned by what they saw.

Lind had explained the effects of each pill, elixir, and so forth once he selected the participants.  As many of them were comrades with those that did not make it, they could relay what they learned and teach as they had his permission to do so.

Lind's own communication jade stone was lit up like a searchlight.  He could not possibly get a word in edgewise but had prepared for it as he waved to Mythra.  She nodded and raised her hands.

As the arena quieted down, the scores were displayed.

The top 10 had changed!

Obviously, Forgers and refiners for the last 2 fighters scored high, but they were made by different people!  Still, it was all people nodding at that obvious result.  It meant 3 Forgers and 2 refiners had seen a massive increase in their points!

There were 2 elixir masters, 1 weaver, and 3 alchemists that filled out the rest of it.  The formation master at 11th place was frowning but they all had their chance 2 days from then to show off their full skill with personal items.

"For those wondering about the scoring, it was fairly simple.  It was 4 aspects rated out of 10.  Endurance, recovery, efficiency, and stability."  The last factor made a lot of masters' eyes light up in understanding.

The failure of some items or anything created could be vastly undermined if it was unstable at any point.  Once that weakness reared its head, it would be fatal.

The formation master in 11th place also had less of a frown as he seemed to grasp why he dropped.

Master Ye zeroed in on a name and smiled.

[3 - Elise - 89 points - Stamina Recovery Pill]

He was thrilled to see his disciple progress so much under pressure.  She was blushing deeply beside him seeing her result.

The demonic elixir master had only moved up to 8th place but Roulin was clearly satisfied.  Master Ye had seen how the elixir actually worked for normal cultivators.  It showed that demons could make elixirs for other races!

Master Ye was surprised to see a few other names he had never seen before but then realized they were likely from the lower world!

Lind was making his point in the current round.  Despite better Qi and resources, the lower world was not in any way inferior at a similar grade.

"Finally, for those that have been clamoring for the details, a copy of each schematic has been submitted to the guild masters of each competitor in their entirety.  The pills and elixir recipes are submitted as well.  To the 20 participants below, their powers will also receive a copy!"  Stunned silence fell before cheering filled the arena.

Even the most common cultivator wanted such items and now the entire realm would be able to make them!

The various powers were more subdued but then many saw the advantage.  It was unlikely that every piece could be grasped by a single power, by spreading it around, each power would learn where their strength lay and improve it as best they could.

Auctions could then be a collaborative profit for guilds putting a set together!

Master Ye felt light headed as his jade stone lit up and the very information he wanted was there!  Any doubt about the worth of the competition faded away in that moment.  He was cheering as much as the youngest member of his guild.

The festive atmosphere continued as the arena cleared out and the next even was about to begin.
