Eternal Emerald Dragon

Chapter 1581 - 1580 - Palace of the Titans

Chapter 1581 - 1580 - Palace of the Titans

If the view from the surface of the Void Ocean was amazing, beneath the waves put it to shame!

He had thought it was like the night sky but he had been sorely mistaken. Outer space was inky black interspersed with bright spots of light but the Void Ocean was like a fireworks show unleashed.

Large, small, and everything in between. Some were so large that he grasped they were insanely far away but filled a large portion of the deep ocean.

Others looked distant but were just tiny and very close. Yet, despite the massive beasts swirling among them, not a single effect could be seen on the shifting constellations.

It was as if the beasts swam and did not exist at the same time.

[Recall, Master, you tried to cup the Void Ocean but it slipped through you yet you could swim in it.] The contradiction struck him as impossible but it was happening.

A thought occurred to him then.

[Is the Void Ocean actually the void in total?] He knew the name could not be a coincidence on top of everything else Haro told him.

Silence greeted him at first but it was not Haro that answered him.

[The Void Ocean is named because we can see the various lower worlds but they are also not there for us. Only a bridge can truly allow an Immortal to descend.] The male kraken spoke. [It is of the void for certain but not even we can affect it directly as you notice. Instead, we are repelled and kept away safely from the worlds housed within its waters.]

Lind absorbed that knowledge but it left him confused about the bubble around him. Shouldn't he be able to breathe?

As if reading his mind, the female leviathan chortled and he saw bubbles!

[We are the mightiest of races but hardly the first to live in these waters. Cultivators can temporarily explore but they will exhaust themselves quickly and sometimes fall into the depths never to be heard from again. The bubble isolates you from that danger as well as others.]

Lind began to study it more closely and realized it was extraordinarily powerful. It was not just a bubble to let him survive but it was actively converting the energy of the kraken to flow into him!

The baby girl was also having a similar effect to a far lesser degree.

She was meant to swim in the Void Ocean and thus was actually learning from what he could tell. Her tiny tentacles were moving with more purpose but her tiny eyes caught him and tried to reach him!

He had no way of telling their speed but he could not even see the surface at all instantly so it had to be very fast as his own experiment had never been able to lose the sunlight before no matter how deep he dared.

The relative position of the twinkling stars moved too quickly nearby but far away could shift drastically before he realized what was happening.

Some kind of current, maybe? Regardless, the density of his bubble spiked sharply and it told him how dangerous the depths were.

Yet, he also felt something familiar. He felt something artificial!

His skill as a Forger was reacting to something massive!

Slowly, the random light was blocked out by something that grew in his vision. It was not just a simple fortress but a massive set of structures on a scale that dwarfed any he had ever conceived.

Such a thing could not exist on land without making even mountains look like pebbles!

The gigantic entrance shimmered with power and he saw why it was that size. The krakens and leviathans easily fit inside it!

As soon as he crossed the threshold, he felt a massive relief of pressure he had not even realized he was under!

He was not in a hallway, he was in a massive valley inside a ravine! The ceiling was easily a dozen kilometers from the floor!

The width was just as bad. The sense of dimension left him feeling like an insect in a humanoid's domain!

The little kraken tackled him as he was caught off guard and they went tumbling. Between the material of the floor and the power of the little baby, Lind felt like he was a ragdoll at best!

Normally, he would worry about hitting a fixture or a wall but the space was too vast for it! Also, the commotion drew attention that explained the size of the hallway.

When people gathered in the cultivation world indoors, generally they came running and were all located on the floor. That was not the case in the Void Ocean.

Krakens and leviathans came swimming over and what would have filled a space normally was still very free. The dimensions began to come into focus for him but Lind placated the little one first.

She was making clacking noises with her beak which he had come to know was the equivalent of childish laughter. He also seemed to realize she was smarter than he was told she would be.

He felt the power of their transmissions to each other but they excluded him. The leviathans seemed irritated at first at his actions but quickly shifted to reverence.

He really wanted to know why they were acting that way as the krakens seemed totally ignorant until he realized the newly arrived krakens were acting the same way.

It was only the royals that were confused!

How could their people know something the royals did not. A sudden realization took him. He was not even 500,000 years old!

[Seniors, may I know roughly how long it takes for a child to be born?] Given they had to reach the Immortal Realm but did not face a tribulation, the loss of intelligence seemed too little a price to pay.

None of the beasts treated him like an intruder to their conversation as the mother kraken answered him.

[There is no set time but to get the best results usually takes anywhere between 1 to 3 million years. For a leviathan it is far shorter compared to krakens usually and far less dangerous to outside interference.] She was controlled until the last part.

Leviathans were beyond the reach of most races during their gestation period but faced the most danger during the moment of birth whereas the kraken's odd lifecycle left them exposed for far longer.

Lind also understood why the royals knew nothing about him. While he had sped up the process, the baby was far along by the time he arrived centuries ago.

The royals had been in the Wild Sea surface area far from any news for over a million years!

[I understand now. I am relatively young and my exploits have only risen to this point likely due to my open conflict with the Great Bastard.] Lind noticed several of the newly arrived beasts flinch.

He tilted his head in confusion but the male leviathan began to laugh!

[You see?! Just like the reports stated, he has no fear of the enemy! He avenged all of us so many times and thwarted their leader's plans in a lower world completely!] The stinging voice was odd to hear full of such joy.

Lind tilted his head in confusion. While he had indeed fought against the Fiends and had success, he was far from the first. The Heaven Realm endless war had been fought long and hard by far older experts long before he was even born.

While 6 elementals had enhanced their methods, it was only a refinement with a more effective weapon.

Why was the leviathan king acting like he was something special?

As if reading his mind once more the queen leviathan used one of her fins to smack her husband's head and turned towards him.

[Long ago, the Fiends came for us. While we are not friends to many on the land, we all share that enemy. Yet, we did not understand the terror of them until it was far too late. They decimated our ancestors to the point we were nearly extinct. We are an enticing source of life for them.]

Her words made Lind's eyes narrow. If that were true, why was the Great Bastard wasting time in lower worlds? The sheer vitality of a Divine Realm already dwarfed an entire lower world, so what was the problem?

A flash of Lord Skinwalker's Inheritance went through his mind and Lind realized the issue. It was the same one that brought the faction and cultists screaming back at him with far more power than before.

A Divine Realm could isolate a part of themselves and thus save their own souls! If the beasts of the Wild Sea learned that trick, even after it was almost too late, hunting them became a far more difficult prospect with less chance of a return!

Lind had somehow upended that and the Fiends would be desperate to learn how! A headache suddenly came on him as he realized that while the harvest group did not get a good look at him before that old woman died, the last group very much did!

They would be looking for him to the limit of their abilities! He sighed as the little princess wanted to keep playing.
