Chapter 1580 - 1579 - Rulers of the Depths

Massive white tentacles began to unfurl not just at the mountain but the entire island! The whole island was the mother of the baby! Lind gulped to realize that fact!

He was so glad he never did more than study the plants and beasts!

The sands of the beach were the only real additions that fell back into the Void Ocean and vanished from sight.

A kraken that far surpassed the one had been talking to appeared where the island had been. She was massive!

She was also stronger than her mate by several folds! It was only then that Lind truly grasped how big a difference the Mysteries could make. The Journeyman Tiers were too far away from him to really grasp more than he was outclassed but with 2 similar Tier beasts he was more familiar with in front of him gave him a better measure.

[Master, she is likely weakened from just giving birth, she will get stronger.] Lind nearly stopped hovering but then a tug on his robes drew his eyes.

The little kraken was trying to pull him into the Void Ocean but he felt no malice or desire to attack him. It reminded him of nothing more than a desire to play.

Lind obliged and dropped into the surface halfway to retain an equilibrium with his ability to stay in place. The little kraken proceeded to hug, roll, and generally tug on him.

He let it and even responded in kind. The screeches and clacking of its beaked mouth showed it was having fun. Because it was Immortal, it was not hungry like a newborn would usually be but Lind made no assumptions that it would not need its parents for something before it grew smart enough to survive on its own.

[You are not like others. You simply indulge her whims to play. Are you also a lifegiver?] A new voice entered his mind. Without stopping the play with the little one he nodded.

"I have been blessed both by my own progeny and those I have been honored to welcome as my children. I have not always been a good father, but I never forgot the joy of the beginning. All children should have a good childhood if they can." His words seemed to surprise the 2 adults but now others were gathering.

They were not just krakens but some leviathans too. It was odd but he felt no danger from any of them.

[Why is a lander allowed near the princess?! He was brought by the Heavens so he may leave but he cannot stay!] A rather stinging voice slammed into his mind but Lind never reacted.

The young kraken was enjoying herself immensely from what he could tell. He worried the parents would get jealous but he maybe his aid was simply being honored for the moment.

[The lander took the oath of protection and went beyond. He allowed me to recover far faster with a strange Art and the same Art helped speed up my daughter's birth. She also acknowledges him as a friend by instinct. We do not do that.]

The male kraken stunned Lind that he almost broke his poker face. They don't like people by instinct?!

What in blazes happened to their races that it was an instinct?!

He also noted the title of the little one but to him, she was just a baby having fun. He was a Divine Realm at least because as an Immortal, she would have shattered his bones and organs with ease! She was that powerful as a baby!

Even a Sovereign Tier would have not lasted long at all!

Eventually the conversation was isolated from him but the male kraken finally extended a tentacle and the small baby happily curled into it. Lind also was offered a place to rest.

He bowed and took it.

The various beasts churned the waves but he could feel Haro was now worried more than before. Neither dared speak to each other as they could not hide the conversation at all from their hosts.

[She is very happy. Thank you for helping bring her into the world sooner.] The joy in the kraken's voice was hard to miss. Lind smiled down at him.

"Being a parent is nothing but a mix of stress, worry, and the moments of joy you can bask in. I wish they were evenly distributed but life is rarely that kind." The small tentacle reached out to his hand and he took it.

[Indeed. I have a son who is far from here but once grown, he chose to live on his own away from us. He will return for his duty one day, but I hope he is more open minded at that time.]

Lind bowed at the words. He then regaled the kraken with both his successes and his failures. He glossed over his time in the Endless Peaks but he did reveal the tragedy of surviving some of his children.

The little kraken seemed to sense his sadness and patted his hand with another tentacle! He squeezed back in appreciation.

[You miss them?] Lind nodded easily.

"The one regret of cultivation is how it separates me from my family so often. Some, like your son, chose to strike out and make their own way but I always wish I could see them again like I used to." He felt a strong agreement from his host.

Eventually, the various beasts began to disperse save 2 leviathans. The mother kraken came over and the little kraken finally shot out like a missile to ensnare her mother in its tiny form.

The 3 beasts paused and he got the impression one of the leviathans was amused but the other seemed to want to eat him. They had golden eyes but they did not seem to have an iris.

He was not sure if it was simply being on the surface or if they saw a different spectrum.

[Majesty–] The same stinging voice came from the massive head that looked ready to swallow him whole! The dark skin shimmered with violet reflection of the Void Ocean.

The female kraken seemed to shrug which nearly caused a tidal wave!

The remaining leviathan was silent but they seemed to give a disapproving stare at their companion.

He did not shrink from it but he stayed silent.

The little kraken continued to play with her mother until some unheard signal made the little one pause and flit back to her father.

[You are called Lind Frey?] Lind did not recall giving his name to her but he nodded. He also bowed with respect to the other 2 leviathans in greeting.

"This junior greets all seniors. As was already revealed, I awoke her after my ascension. My guardian spirit–" The offensive leviathan instantly reacted.

Before anyone could stop them, it shot forward and had its maw open to kill him.

Lind sighed before using something he had not used in a long time.

[Stop.] His Authority was greatly weakened originally but after the little kraken was born, he felt something shift. The leviathan froze in place! It strained but oddly no vitality was taken from Lind at all.

That last part surprised him until he felt fury rise from the mother kraken.

[YOU DARE?!] He wondered if he would survive when the leviathan was suddenly sent flying across the waves. He had not even seen her move! He sensed nothing at all! The beast was not dead but he was bleeding profusely, he could also move again.

The little kraken whimpered and her father consoled her but she reached out for both her mother and Lind!

[You were just told that he was a True Lord before, of course he has a guardian spirit. The Divine Spirit Master made them epochs ago.] A gentler voice spoke up and had to belong to the last member of their party.

Lind was confused. If they knew what he was in advance, why the attack? His confusion seemed clear but the mother kraken was too angry to answer.

[Junior Frey, my fellow ruler has a strong distaste and distrust of True Lords. The reason being is that our races have no such role in them. We are the sole exception of the beast races with divine bloodlines.]

Ruler. If the leviathans were rulers and the little kraken was a princess, that meant all 4 of the beings around him were rulers! He bowed low once more.

"I apologize if I acted out too much, I simply wanted him to stop.] He was not being reprimanded but he still apologized. That made both the mother kraken and the bleeding leviathan freeze in place.

[Apologize? You are the victim. You have no need to apologize. Besides, you did not attack nor did the fool realize the Divine Lands has recognized you. Another factor in your favor since it was related to the little princess' birth.] The female leviathan, as he now knew her to be, seemed to smile with her huge mouth.

The tiny shivering ball of white calmed down under the connection to her parents and Lind as they each reached out to her.

[You protected my child and me from those bastards and he attacked you. It dishonors us!] The mother kraken's voice was rage but Lind waved it off.

"Of all people alive, I am well aware of how treacherous other races can be. I have been hunted, threatened, and treated like a tool more than once. I was even used as a political tool against my own family. I simply can't live that way. People are not things. We all have to fight to live to survive, but even then, no one is just a stepping stone for my advancement." His words were from his heart and the little kraken, despite clearly lacking intelligence, calmed considerably as he spoke.

[Wait, people are not things? I have heard that somewhere.] Lind's head snapped up at the stinging voice as the injuries slowly healed visibly to his naked eye. The male leviathan then summoned a jade slip from somewhere.

It glowed before the golden eyes went wide!

[Emerald hair, eyes, dragon scale, and human form. A 6 elemental that gained a dragon soul and solved the elemental issue of the lower realms in the eastern continent. Known for unorthodox methods and marked for immediate extermination by the Fiend race on sight.]

Lind felt all 4 pairs of eyes land on him as he scratched the side of his cheek. He then waved as he smiled.

"Hello, I am here to kill the Great Bastard as soon as possible. Any ideas?" His tone was light but his face was dead serious. The male leviathan shook with something before he bowed his head low.

[Forgive me my arrogance, True Lord Dragon Frey. We have been waiting for you.] Shock flooded him as he looked around but the krakens looked as confused as he was.

[We must go to the palace. I have a task I want from him and we can discuss this more.] The male kraken spoke and they all agreed. Before Lind could ask what was going on, a bubble of air engulfed him and the little kraken joined him before they dove below the surface.

The area the island was in became just another expanse of the Wild Sea with no evidence it was ever there.
