Lind was about to relax waiting for his fellow True Lord when all his instincts screamed at him!
He dove to the side as a vile flame burst out of the ground he had just stood at! Confusion flared as he had not felt a Fiend at all or their Qi until the last possible moment.
His damned sealed elemental nodes left him blind! He had grown complacent!
Without those nodes, his Laws and Daos were just as cut off! Only his harmony remained!
He scanned around as best he could but he did not want to endanger–
"HELP! PLEASE HELP ME!" He glanced over to the work area harvesting crystals and ore from the flame stones. It was not a Fiend at all! It was a demon!
The pale lavender skin glowed with Fiend Qi! A damned thrall!
The lithe demon held a child in his hands. She had a short and bushy tail with small pointed ears on top of her crimson haired head. A feline bloodline for certain but she was crying as a vile black blade was held to her heart.
[I am displeased. All of them are failures. You are now more dangerous than I can allow to exist. Cease your resistance or I will consume all of these ants here. I will then send out more thralls and do the same across the entire 4th layer. It will collapse but I have time.]
The grating voice was all too familiar! The Great Bastard!
Lind did not let down his guard again but he sneered.
"You seem worried. Something about your precious toys slipping away from you? Even I am curious how that happened not once but twice now." The demon's face became fury incarnate!
[YOU DID THIS! YOU WILL BECOME A PART OF ME FOR ALL ETERNITY AND LEARN YOUR–] Anger was useful fuel but the Great Bastard clearly was affected by possessing the Sovereign Demon.
Lind could not use his full powers, but his body worked just fine! Emerald light lit up around his body as he snatched the child away. The demon screamed in pain but unlike other times, the Fiend Qi could fend it off!
[They all will die! I will consume the entire layer and leave you in the void! You will whither away there for millions of years!] The demon's skin began to crack under the pressure of the control exerted on it.
Lind could see with his Eyes that the souls were being harvested! NO!
He acted without thought when a staff appeared in his free hand. It had been instinct but he did not pause to consider what he had just done as he struck the demon thrall.
He expected blood, or to see the man flung away, but what followed shocked him.
An ephemeral figure suddenly appeared and was pulled into the roof! Lind froze as he looked at the demon with hollowed out eyes slowly looked down as tears and blood flowed from them.
"Thank–you–True Lord." The faint voice was all he heard before the demon collapsed and the soul broke down! True Death!
Lind had no idea what was going on but he suddenly felt it! It was like he could see the entire 4th layer in his head! He also saw the distortions! The damned bastard was carrying out his threat!
[I invoke Heaven and Earth to aid me! Let me save them!] It was vague but had a specific target!
Lind suddenly felt power flow into him unlike anything he had ever possessed in his life! It was different from his aura, Laws, or even Dao. It was like he WAS the 4th layer! He also felt his vitality drain at a terrifying rate!
He did not waste time and acted on instinct. Across the 4th layer, various powers came under threat by humans, demons, and even aether children! Beasts too were suddenly controlled by a terrifying power!
Millions were weakening when the very world shifted. A massive dragon appeared in the skies everywhere all at once. Emerald eyes bore down and the various attackers looked up enraged!
[YOU WILL FAIL! I AM FOREV–] Fine emerald threads snapped out across all of the 4th layer.
Screams unlike anything anyone had ever heard filled the air and made the souls shiver. It was a battle far beyond even peak Sovereign Tiers but 3 other individuals acted.

Three auras flared to support the ghost emerald dragon in the skies. All 4 True Lords acted as one with Heaven and Earth responding.
The various thralls began to smoke but they did not yield.
[ANTS ARE OF NO CONCERN TO ME! I WILL MAKE YOU ALL A PART OF ME! I WILL ENDURE FOR ALL ETERNITY!] The Heavens rumbled but the emerald eyes narrowed at their foe.
[Endure? Your time is over! Heaven and Earth are reclaiming what you stole! You sacrificed entire races to ensure your life! I am the answer to it! I am coming for you! You will die and be forgotten! You are a tiny thing!]
Lind's voice boomed and for a brief moment, something shifted in the skies. It was like an ancient monster now looked down at the 4th layer and the thralls flinched.
[I see. The path is set then. I will kill you there. We will see who is forgotten!]
As if Lind would let him end things on his terms. His fine emerald threads finally found their mark.
The various thralls suddenly convulsed and the Great Bastard was sent packing! His connection severed, the various beings looked grateful in horrid states. Those that could cupped their hands and bowed in gratitude before True Death claimed them.
Lind's Authority abruptly ended and he snapped back to his body. He was covered in sweat and blood as all his orifices had bled profusely! His vitality was cut in half!
He still had plenty left but it was the greatest expenditure he had ever used! He gently let the child down who ran off to her parents. They wept openly in joy at the safe return of their child.
Lind was about to let sleep claim him when a rumble drew his attention. He looked up at the ceiling of the cavern and golden lighting slammed into him!
His vitality surged beyond its original bounds! What was going on?!
"You are a stubborn fool, you know that? A damned lucky one too!" A familiar voice reached him as he slowly looked over to its source.
Red wine eyes looked at Lind with exhaustion before the golden robes shimmered as all bowed in his presence.
Peak Sovereign Tier?! How?!
The smirk on his tanned face showed Lind was not the only beneficiary of the current event.
He wanted to ask but his body felt like lead! He just wanted to sleep!
"Rest, my friend. You are safe now." Darkness closed in as several hands caught him. The last thing Lind heard were instructions to carry him to a VIP courtyard.

It had been a long time since the Phoenix True Lord had seen Lind Frey. He had been reborn many times but only his current incarnation was a True Lord. Yet, he benefitted from all the previous lives he had lived.
He was now far more mature in appearance after so many thousands of years apart, yet his speed of cultivation was no less monstrous than Lind's.
The only difference was the Phoenix True Lord was more in line with a normal Sovereign Tier in regards to Dao.
His azure hair flared briefly as he looked at the weeping family. Lind never changed but he frowned as he felt the traces of what was left in the air.
It was not an energy he recognized yet Lind had used it like it was second nature to him! The other 2 True Lords joined him to support Lind and had received karmic restitution but Lind had gotten the lion's share of it.
He had gotten back all the vitality he had burned via Authority. He was a monster without doubt!
"True Lord, is it wise to take him in at this time?" The Phoenix True Lord sighed as he rolled his eyes. He glanced back to see the Nightflame Clan Matriarch looking at the passed out Lind Frey being carried away.
Her withered body was even more fragile but anyone that thought she was near death would never know how they died if they attacked her.
Still, he felt she was putting off her rebirth for too long now.
"You felt it, did you not, Senior?" Her ancient face narrowed at him but she slowly nodded. He then let his aura flare which shocked her!
"P–peak Sovereign Tier?!" He smiled and nodded.
"You can thank Fellow Lord Frey for that! Also, you can thank him for us having a 4th layer at all. He is now truly the enemy of that evil bastard. We need him to become a Divine Realm and if we can help him, we will!" His words were stern but she quickly bowed low to him.
He then went over to ensure no one else was hurt but he had the question in his mind.
Just what could the Throne of Living Flame give Lind Frey to advance his cultivation?
