Chapter 1535 - 1534 - Escape
Chapter 1535 - 1534 - Escape
Lind spent the next week recovering to his peak condition. While his body and dantian were fine, his elemental nodes were walled off from him. They were full Dao Nodes!
He could no longer use his own elements without endangering the entire Celestial Fields!
Yet, he could now use Dao far more easily without doing anything dangerous. He tried to recall the end of the tribulation but it was like something obscured his memory.
He knew Fey had succeeded and that she fixed his grievous injuries, but anything else was just gone.
[Haro?] His ring spirit actually fully manifested for the first time in a very long time.
He even looked better than before!
"Master, I cannot reveal everything but your gains were due to your own work. The Nodes are sealed as you suspect because they have ascended in a sense. Thankfully, your harmony is still usable so you can make the elements work for you after a fashion." He then glanced above and frowned.
Many auras were seeking them so Lind quickly grabbed his cargo and moved. He could not tear through space anymore, so he could only move quickly. He felt so exposed but strangely, no one seemed to find him.
Haro smiled as he knew the answer.
"Master, they are looking for an Immortal but you are no longer giving off such an aura. Effectively, you are beyond their ability to detect remotely, but they can still see or seek you out via simpler methods." The trio flew through the Hollow Lands until they were in an area of instability.
It was the safest place for the next step. Lind flared his harmonic flames and the Fiend snapped awake in pain. She tried to scream or use her Qi but it was completely locked down!
Horror spread on her impossibly beautiful face as she looked at him.
"Haro, keep an eye out. If anyone comes near, warn me." The bald man bowed and then vanished.
He then used his harmony alone to erect a ward via weaving. It was far more difficult without infusing his own elements into it. Still, the Fiend seemed too focused on him to notice his issues.
Once he had some isolation he began questioning her. She tried to resist but his harmony was merciless to her. He actually had to reign in the reaction a few times or she would have died!
Eventually, he got the gist of it. The restrictions of Heaven and Earth stopped her from talking about the Divine Lands but the orders from the Great One intrigued him.
A Fiend escaped the Great Bastard? A quick contact to his family confirmed Shoti had rooted out a female Fiend who acted very odd at the end. She had not resisted her death at the end and the soul of a man had appeared before vanishing.
The fallen King of Goresh had been in love with a Fiend? Not a thrall nor an agent but simply desiring her? He could see it if the man had no empathy with his fellow man but the Fiend returned his feelings?
The female Fiend then surprised him as she begged to know how the dead Fiend had pulled it off!
He had no time to ponder it as Haro warned him that several parties were closing in.
He then had a choice. He could continue to question the Fiend or kill her and escape but his curiosity had been piqued.
He grabbed her and the trio fled again. They were moving southwest from the cavern but Lind had to have his harmony brute force moving through solid stone or soil to keep escaping their pursuers.
It barely worked. He never appreciated how his elements were essential to his Arts until he could no longer access them at all!
Stealth, travel, or just flying were beyond him save his draconic abilities! Even then, his body felt so damn heavy!
Haro, by contrast, was easily keeping up with him! So were their pursuers!
Months of hide and seek followed before Lind was near collapse. His stamina was not limitless and his Qi would not easily be called to restore him. HIs dragon recovery speed was not bad at all but their hunters were too damned persistent!
He had no idea who was after them but the why was clear as day! He could not hide his aura and thus he was hunted!
[Master, we cannot keep this up, we need to lose them somehow!] Lind would have happily punched Haro for stating the obvious. What did he think they were doing?!
Still, where could they go? Their ultimate destination was not a solution as it would not stop the beings following them at all.
He wracked his brain until a memory came back to him with a smile.
"We are going to hunt wurms!" Haro looked confused before he went pale. Surely not?!
They dove deep into the Hollow Lands. Caverns of ice were followed by quagmires of falling sand as they continued to go deep into the underground lairs of various races.
Lind finally found what he was looking for, a massive area of desert with soft sand in all directions fell within his senses!
The horrific wurms infested the place but LInd quickly stopped deep in the desert and very, very gently set down on a piece of stone. The massive beasts did not seem intelligent but their sensitivity to sound was not to be underestimated!
His pursuers foolishly rushed in and paid the price.
The screech of the wurms as their mouths unleashed the 3 tendrils to ensnare their prey lead to the screams of death from the people following him.
It was brutal but it showed how powerful the damned things were. Further, he took the chaos as cover to escape his pursuit at last.
"Master, those creatures are not natural." Lind froze as Haro relayed that information. He had not mentioned that before!
"Explain." Haro paused his words but they continued to head out of the desert. His draconic aura kept the wurms away but his ring spirit then became grim.
"I think they were fused from several species, some aquatic in nature but the issue is it takes power beyond the Immortal Realm to do it." That surprised Lind at first but then he remembered that Divine Realms had made 2 of his family members flesh and blood from a memory!
"Do such creatures have a name?" Haro shook his head.
"The diversity of life is not solely due to Heaven and Earth but the Divine Realms as well." That was a revelation! Lind then recalled the legends from his own world but many beasts did not fit in with those stories.
Stone drals were like goats with rock armor but nothing matched that on Earth.
The various elemental specialized beasts were a different matter but as he examined his history, he had encountered what would be definitely fictionalized versions of many beasts.
Why were beasts made by Divine Realms in the Celestial Fields?
The mystery added to the list of things he wanted to explore but he had to reach his destination before more pursuit parties showed up!
He needed to find a way to advance in his current restricted state. He was no better than a cripple at the moment!
The trio traveled far until the surroundings shifted drastically to violet colored stone. Lind sighed as he once again returned to a troublesome destination.
The Throne of Living Flame was around him once more but some things had changed. No slave force was in effect but there were still suppressed races working for the phoenix race.
He frowned at that but the important part was he finally was able to do what he needed.
"Explain in detail what you meant earlier. How did that Fiend escape the Great Bastard?" The female Fiend had no idea but she relayed what she had been told. Lind had already confirmed with Shoti what she saw but he only had a theory.
The Fiend wanted to be free too but he doubted he could make it happen for her. The return of the Celestials likely had a direct correlation somehow but he had no way to test it.
[Haro, have you ever heard of this?] He turned to his ring spirit but the bald man seemed as confused as Lind was.
[Master, I have learned much about Fiends since becoming your guardian but there is too much unknown about both Fiends and Celestials in my memory.] Haro was much older than him but even he had no idea about the current issue.
Lind could only wonder as he finally had no choice left. Emerald flames engulfed the female Fiend but something odd happened. Rather than the usual disintegration he was used to, he felt something odd.
Her existence shifted entirely and her soul inverted! Celestial Qi gathered around her as her soul was taken out of the 4th layer.
Now, he was intrigued but he felt a familiar presence closing in on his location. He dismissed Haro and waited for his fellow True Lord to arrive.
They had much to discuss.
