Chapter 1487 - 1486 - Dao Weapons
Chapter 1487 - 1486 - Dao Weapons
Lind had faced many cultivators. Some were insane enough to sacrifice everything to try and win but none came close to the Immortal Berserker. He doubted anyone realized but the Dao of Bloodlust had a hidden effect.
It not only drove the desire to fight through the roof but it protected the user as well. Wounds that would be lethal were deflected or even outright healed!
The method was brutal but it explained why the man was so thin.
Any energy from food, cultivation, or other methods not used up were stored in his body. Instead of gaining muscle or fat, he simply remained thin. The reservoir was then invoked as needed while the Dao was active.
Lind had dealt lethal blows to the man but he shrugged them off as if they were trivial. He also ran into attacks if it meant a lethal strike of his own!
The loss of his arm made Lind pull back but the Immortal Berserker was not giving him much room to breathe.
He swapped to his dragon body as its defense was more robust and his regeneration was faster.
He fused his Dao into his harmony and thus his flames became a threat. The crimson aura around the Immortal Berserker grew thicker to protect him. The man tried to cleave through the flames but it was not so easy!
Trying to fly over them also failed as the flames could grow higher! Lind then pulled back and took the time to stabilize his condition.
The initial fight was shocking on so many levels and he had little time to analyze it!
His Battle Aura was on par, at best, with the simple attacks of the Dao of Bloodlust. Neither side gained an advantage there but he did do better in direct conflict.
His body may be human in appearance but compared to a human he was far stronger, faster, and more resilient over all.
Yet, none of that mattered! His Dao barely protected him! If the Immortal Berserker broke through, his scales shattered!
The Dao of Bloodlust was pure combat. He grasped that much and the rest was to allow the user to endure until no more was left. He had not lied about a soul being enough to use it!
It would destroy the soul but it would not stop the madman in front of him.
His own Dao, by comparison, was not helpful in direct combat. Honestly, he only ever felt its true power when facing the Fiends or someone far above his level.
While the Immortal Berserk was 2 minor realms above him, it was not enough. They were technically on the same playing field due to their Dao.
His flames were thinning out, he was running out of time!
He closed his eyes to remove distractions. He pictured his harmony. He could use it all for all sorts of things but he stripped away the usual lists and focused on one thing.
Could his harmony use his Dao? They were technically one and the same but he had not used the Dao alone.
He could not win in a pure fight. The Immortal Berserker was gifted and far more experienced in combat than Lind.
His death was assured if he continued down the current path.
The Dao of Defiance was not like the Dao of Bloodlust. It was not meant for combat directly but it was meant to overcome the odds. It was meant to face what others deemed impossible and to spit in its face.
His thoughts calmed and centered as his flame flickered.
Screams tried to intrude but he pushed them aside as his hands extended in his mental landscape.
An old shape came to him. A group of people had come together and chose to defy conventions and assumptions. They chose to believe there was a way forward when the world said no.
He opened his eyes to see crimson covered weapons were about to pierce his dantian, heart, head, and soul.
True Death was staring him in the face but he was calm.
A blinding flash of emerald light sent all of the weapons flying randomly across the stage. He returned to his human form.
His emerald hair flitted around him in the wind caused by his counter attack. As a solid staff appeared in his hands.
It was not a conjured weapon of harmonic Qi, but something that looked far more real than anything else in the arena.
Even his pseudo Dao creations could not compare to it. Decorations covered the staff representing the 6 natural elements.
It was once called the 6 Elemental Staff but the current one changed. The other 12 elements joined it as it took on colors.
All 18 elemental forms were on the dark wooden surface. Golden highlights embossed each symbolic piece.
The Immortal Berserker actually paused.
Lind looked down and a name came to him.
[Staff of Defiance.]
The Heavens rumbled but there was a problem. Solid as it looked, it was still a conjured item. It was draining his resources like crazy!
Lind desperately wanted to do something about it but he had no time. The battle resumed.
His staff moved in familiar ways as 18 elements combined to cover him. What was impossible to others was easy to him!
The Dao of Bloodlust was no longer just a danger but a puzzle to solve! The attacks increased but then shock covered his face as all the blades shattered.
The crimson power flowed in front of the Immortal Berserker until a massive blade as dark as night appeared. The serrated edge would rip flesh horrifically but it was also more solid than anything else.
"I love this!" The Immortal Berserker actually caressed the blade! [Blade of Bloodlust]
Dao weapons! The manifestation of their Dao! Lind twirled his staff to intercept the sword. When they clashed, the world fractured.
The very air seemed to pull back! Yet, neither stopped.
Lind was outclassed by combat but his utility left the Immortal Berserker far behind! Celestial Qi was highly effective while the natural and demonic Qi kept him guessing.
It only kept them in a stalemate but Lind noticed something. Daos were different and his was not for combat, thus it tried to simply forge ahead while keeping things in balance.
The Dao of Bloodlust, however, had no restraint. It was going all out!
The once robust figure full of blood thundering in his veins was thinning out!
[You will die from your Dao before me. Is that truly how you wish to go?] Lind warned him. He did not want to win by default.
Laughter greeted him.
Instead of holding back, the Immortal Berserker went harder! His blade became a whirlwind of dark still that shattered his scales! His staff and defenses could not keep up!
His Dao would last longer but it was not to say it could withstand the madness of the Berserker!
His injuries were not just physical! His already injured soul was straining now. Maintaining the weapon was a drain on all his resources and the injuries by the other weapon added to it!
A spark lit in Lind's eyes. He saw his true foe beyond the current battleground. His moves changed!
He dove under the next attack and slid right under the shocked face of the Immortal Berserker.
The staff slammed into his groin with such force any male species would weep for 7 generations.
The sword in his hands actually shimmered briefly before solidifying again.
Instead of rage or tears of pain, the Immortal Berserker was laughing even harder!
"USE EVERYTHING! DON'T STOP!" Battle maniacs–why did all the battle maniacs love him?
Lind twisted his hands and the staff became 2 weapons. The symbols of natural and demonic Qi flowed on each.
In the center of his chest the Celestial Qi fused it all until reality seemed on the verge of breaking.
[I DEFY YOU!] They were 3 simple words spoken across the many realms. They often came right before death, victory, or crippling.
Yet in Lind's voice, they took on weight. His Dao was not for fighting, but carving his path through adversity!
Where none saw a way forward, he would make his own! The Immortal Berserker became solemn as the wave of energy shattered his blade with ease.
"Finally, I can rest." His eyes were full of gratitude as he was wiped from existence. The battle of Dao was over.
A withered husk remained that began to crumble away to dust. The silence of the crowd was absolute.
Lind Frey was on his knees but he was alive! His pale face and trembling body were a testament to how weak he was at that moment.
[WINNER: LIND FREY!]
Lind heard it and collapsed. He was spent and there was nothing he could do more than he had. He heard voices closing in but his eyes were on the pile of ash. The man had smiled at the end?
Had he been looking for death all along or just a death he could accept? Lind would never know but he did know one thing. He was in for a lecture of massive proportions when he woke up.
