Chapter 1486 - 1485 - Defiance vs Bloodlust
Chapter 1486 - 1485 - Defiance vs Bloodlust
The betting pools had gone wild. The odds were extremely difficult to calculate but given what had been seen thus far, the odds layed it actually 7:1 against Lind.
The Immortal Berserker had shown not only what he could do but that his control of Dao was extremely good. He had wiped out his target without touching a single other soul. It was not so easy and many Sovereign Tiers knew that.
Lind Frey had also shown incredible control of his Dao but it was more in relation to his creative side than martial.
While none doubted it played a role, no one had ever seen him use it in battle aside from against Fiends.
His harmony was another outlier that was hard to gauge but the recent battles he had been in showed how terrifying it could be. Even so, the odds remained against him.
Of course, if he won, those that bet on him would make a fortune.
Lind knew none of it but simply stood in the ring across from the unassuming man. His thin frame and beaten up swords matched his ragged robes.
Anyone looking at him would think he was a vagrant but all knew looks were horrifyingly deceiving.
The robes, even in a horrible state, were Law Grade. Lind could also tell that most of the weapons were the same.
The odds of such weapons surviving in such a condition were next to impossible so he suspected they were either made that way or were Forged/refined to incorporate their current physical state.
Facing the man now, his instincts warned him the man in front of him was a danger on all levels.
[Due to the nature of our current participants, we have employed a dozen Sovereign Tiers to re-inforce the wards to contain your power. However, if things get out of hand, we will be stopping the fight–] Lind's aura shot upward.
His fingers and hair glowed as new sigils appeared. Shock spread in the crowd as they thought he was going to attack the judge but the Immortal Berserker simply smiled wider.
The wards, previously capable of only containing peak Sovereign Tiers, were transformed! They were far more powerful!
Pseudo Dao creations were reinforced with weaving arrays unlike anything anyone had seen before! His damaged soul did not seem to impede him at all!
Lind had not healed but he had grasped something important. He was able to weave just enough to get what he needed and no more.
The pure power of Dao was the only way to do it.
[The barriers will hold now.] He said nothing else but experts quickly evaluated them and tears fell from their eyes. Half of them fell into enlightenment just reading the trace patterns!
The judges shrugged and sighed but nodded for the main one to continue.
The Harmonic Dragon felt a cold sweat break out as it was clear the Ancestor was still injured in his soul but could now wield his Dao effectively despite that!
[Ahem, well then. The rules remain the same, you will fight until–]
"Death." The Immortal Berserker spoke up. His words silenced the crowd. "We will fight until True Death."
The judge looked horrified when Lind nodded in acceptance. A solemn atmosphere filled the arena. Both were legendary men but Lind Frey had created a treasure trove of a Throne.
He had organized a tournament that enticed peak Sovereign Tiers to the lowest realm cultivator to come enjoy!
He offered something Sovereign Tiers needed more than anything, the ability to go past their limits without destroying the world around them. To allow him to be destroyed seemed a crime against Heaven and Earth.
The only reason no one hopped into the arena to stop him was the Oaths all had sworn. They could not interfere in an active fight once the fighters were called. They could not seek vengeance for what happened in the arena either.
All myriad ways to leave the fights as pure as possible had been covered.
Now, however, many strained to resist those Oaths. The Heavens rumbled but Lind waved it off casually.
[He will not stop, even in simple death. His Dao will work even as a soul. True Death is the only way to win.] His words seemed to imply he was assured of victory but all knew the Immortal Berserker of old.
He was more like a force of nature than a man! Millions had tried to kill him only to be wiped from the world by his blades.
"Start the fight, or I will." The Immortal Berserker was already changing! He had invoked his Dao already!
The judge had no choice.
[BEGIN!]
The pair vanished from sight. Everyone began turning up the speed of their screens but it was only when it got to 1000X speed they finally saw them!
Both men were already bleeding! The Immortal Berserker was aglow with crimson energy as blood flew from his injuries. HIs crazed smile was clear to all as he was laughing as he fought with his fists!
Lind Frey was covered in emerald light but his scaled human body was just as injured. The cracked scales barely did anything!
It was only when they turned it up to 2000X speed they saw the weapons. The blades of the Immortal Berserker were doing battle with all kinds of manifested weapons. Battle Aura. Lind was using Battle Aura!
How long could they keep it up? Such actions should be draining the Qi, Laws, and stamina so fast that they should be collapsed in only a few moments!
It was only as the glow around each intensified that the pressure of Dao became clear.
The Sovereign Tiers blanched as they realized both men were severely underestimated. The fight had gone far beyond the level of everyone there!
So focused on the battle on the screens was the audience, that many missed the battle in the skies.
Normally, it was a colorful panorama of elemental Qi of all kinds inside the Throne of Defiance, but now it was coalescing! The Qi in the sky was responding!
Profound shapes and symbols were appearing in the sky and only a person taking a break from the flurry of fists brought attention to it.
A single glance was enough to nearly blind anyone but Sovereign Tiers. The ones not actively engaged in support of the weavings and formations quickly cast a filter into the sky as best they could.
Their feeble attempts barely protected the lower realm cultivators in time!
Now, a storm of emerald and crimson was occurring above.
The only 2 to understand what was happening were the other True Lords. Their contribution was what helped filter it out as well.
"They are not just fighting with their bodies, but their literal Daos. It should not be possible in the Celestial Fields." The roc True Lord's narrow face was full of fear as he looked on. His compatriot was just as pale.
"There is nothing to be done but what about the tribulation?" Theoretically the question was moot but her point was clear.
The barrier around a Throne acted almost like a dimensional rift. It could be thought of as a special realm in fact in the case of the Throne of Defiance but Dao was not restricted!
An Immortal was ascending facing a Divine Tribulation while inside a battle of Dao was occurring. Neither knew what would happen as normally it was a non-issue.
The unique set of circumstances that allowed it could never be repeated again.
In the trillions of cultivators across the Celestial Fields, only 2 had come that far and met in battle.
A swift nod and the roc vanished from the suite. He was on his way to check on the tribulation, yet the Heavens were not so kind as to wait.
The 2 Daos clashed when a pierced white blade rumbled into the middle of it. The tribulation had come!
The pair below finally paused and looked in unison at the skies.
[[BEGONE!]] The 2 Daos repelled the blade with ease and made a barrier as if it was that easy!
Monsters! Both of those men were monsters! One was a dragon and the other a human. The fact one was a True Lord did not seem to make a difference at all!
The power of the 2 Daos resumed their battle in earnest.
The filter they had erected could not withstand the shockwaves! It was going to smash through!
An arm suddenly went flying and the battle paused. Lind was holding his left side where his arm used to be but his aura did not waver a millimeter. The Immortal Berserker was cackling as he launched more of his swords at him.
Lind never moved but a massive tail whipped out and deflected all of them! He transformed and healed his arm in one go! Pushing regeneration like that consumed stamina and Qi but Lind seemed not to care.
The tiny human seemed hopeless but all looking on knew they were still evenly matched.
Emerald flames shot out but they were not in a straight line. They broke into streams to encircle and capture the Immortal Berserker. Further, the Sovereign Tiers could feel Dao in all of it!
How?! How could dragon breath be turned into pure Dao?!
The battle raged on but none could say if either side had an advantage yet.
