Chapter 1378 - 1377 - Mastery
Chapter 1378 - 1377 - Mastery
Lind knew it would take time to master his new level of power but he had sorely underestimated how long that was!
Over the course of 5 centuries, he had some successes that he was able to pass along certain routes to his Clan branch in the Icy Path.
Barbatos explained there were legal channels but they were exorbitant in cost. Thus, the forests that retained their power had found more cost effective ways to get goods through.
Smuggling was the word but Lind did not bother to point it out as he did not want anyone knowing where he was.
The vast majority of the Under Lands had to use the beast controlled forests to reach the Sovereign Lands or trade with the lower layers.
Lind was able to handsomely pay inside the forest as his resources were not drained instantly the moment he took them out.
That aided in many ways, not least compensating the bridges broken by that foolish little man!
Now, Lind emerged from a simple shack he had built in the forest. Loose branches had been honed by hand to make it so it was not as neat as Forging but he could not chance it when he made it.
He had zero control when he went into seclusion.
Now, as he emerged into the moonlit night, he summoned a simple aqua silver ore that shimmered azure. It had the water Qi flowing through it but he wanted to make an artifact at peak Law Grade if he could.
He also summoned ochre obsidian and a Celestial sapphire. The last part was nurtured by a Seed but it would suffice.
He first brought out his smelting pot but frowned as it seemed weak to him now. Still, it would have to do. It also gave him a direction for his first official creation.
His Qi flowed smoothly into each ore and they turned into liquid metal with ease at last. He poured each into the smelting pot but it turned burnt orange far quicker than ever before.
He tried to safely extract the heat but he did not want to cool the metal too soon.
Once the 3 ores began to meld together, he quickly put pressure on them and a new alloy was born. It was a metal that could regulate heat, accept demonic Qi, and refine natural Qi with ease.
It also had one other feature.
It was the first tool he had made that had Celestial Qi incorporated as the foundation. The other creations used Celestial Qi but his harmony made up the foundation.
He was avoiding that this time.
He wanted to create with the 3 elemental systems alone. In other words, he wanted to make something others could replicate.
Most of his works hinged on his harmony and he wanted to change that. He wanted to make things students and others could replicate if they came across it.
The molten metal strained the smelting pot as cracks began to appear. Lind had no time to waste!
He quickly extruded the liquid just before the pot shattered.
The searing shards of metal bounced off of his scales but damaged the trees around him. He quickly extracted the shards and used his harmony to repair the damage.
He should not be an inconsiderate neighbor.
His focus returned to the molten metal and quickly shaped it. It became a larger bowl. The basic shape was easy enough, but he wanted to do more. His Qi flowed through it and Forged finally after so many centuries absent of it.
His intent, Laws, and even Dao traced through it all.
The large smelting pot became firmer in front of him. It was at least twice the size of the previous one. It had a grayish color at first but shifted to cerulean as his intent fused with it.
He wanted a more powerful artifact for his future works.
Sigils settled over it as well as he used his weaving to complete it.
The new smelting pot steamed for a time until at last it settled. There was mostly cerulean color but it shifted at times withs traces of black and gold as the sigils shimmered.
He was covered in sweat as the new smelting pot cooled in front of him. It had impressive weavings fusing with it but none of it had his harmony. He smiled as he examined it and was shocked at what his senses told him.
It was not peak Law Grade but pseudo Dao-Grade!
It made no sense until he examined his weavings and sighed.
"Even without my harmony, my changes show in my work." The Inheritances had transformed him on a fundamental level outside his harmony.
[Master, I think you overlook the potential of the new tool. I feel it can grow.] Haro's words made him look closer to realize he had made a potential Divine Spirit tool!
It was his first!
The revelation made him realize his mistake. He had not tried to curtail his limits and the materials had the potential for growth.
Still, it gave him his limits.
He proceeded to test his new smelting pot and made many peak Law Grade artifacts and weapons. It hardly stressed the new smelting pot.
The sun broke the horizon as he looked at his work.
A broad sword that shimmered with burnt orange light had both natural and demonic Qi flowing in it. It used fire and blue fire at once!
A set of storage bracelets that had a capacity that put most peak items to shame. One was forest green while the other was virulent yellow in design.
The final item was a set of robes that could absorb damage from all 3 elemental sets.
It had tested his control to the limit as it could self repair and had augmentation on top of the absorption!
He nearly collapsed but with a smile as he finally felt in full control of his production abilities once again.
Lind returned to his shack where sigils shimmered. Qi density was much higher and he assumed a lotus position to recover.
The forest was much better than the rest of the Under Lands but he learned it had limits. Rather than a normal Qi gathering array, it would be better to call it a Qi stocking weaving. At a fixed rate, the weaving would gather Qi and store it away when he was not actively cultivating.
It was very efficient but he only recovered a quarter of his Qi.
It was more than enough for his next step as elixirs were less Qi intensive than Forging or weaving.
He walked across the forest pathways between brush and the flicker of movement of many small beasts running from him or their predators. He never threatened them but he knew his scent would terrify anything below the Immortal Realm.
He came to a stream that shimmered like sapphire jewels under the now blazing sunlight. The fish inside scattered just like the smaller animals but in that case he appreciated it as he needed the water rather than conjuring his own.
It would save him Qi and be of the quality he needed.
He extended his arm and a surge of liquid disrupted the flow of the river. He extruded it until a sphere the size of a basketball floated above the river. He checked for any impurities or smaller guests than could be seen by the naked eye.
A small cloud of dust was pushed out and returned to the river as he was unsure what the fish all needed as food or resources.
He recognized none of them compared to the beasts of the forest.
He pushed aside his stray thoughts and condensed the orb of water while he summoned an elixir master casing. It let him burn a fire without relying on his Qi constantly making it.
It had been a long time since he used tools and exterior resources for the basics but the Qi and Law consumption was vastly less than usual. Still, he preferred his own method normally, yet he had not mastered even that simple act without causing a stir or consuming massive amounts of Qi.
The water began to bubble and he brought out 3 herbs, 2 Immortal Stones, a black and azure beast core, and finally a pouch of crystals.
The crystals were the remains of elemental crystals. They would act as compensation for his Qi as another way to cut corners on cost.
He dispersed them into the water to be absorbed while he began the extraction of essence. He felt a slight strain as his Qi wanted to rip things apart instantly, but he contained it.
The herbs shriveled as the shimmering essence was brought into the world. The Immortal Qi stones followed as they crumbled into dust. The beast core exploded unexpectedly but he still got the essence.
Not quite perfect but enough. Breaking down the essence into aspects and Laws went much smoother.
He finally moved what he needed into the now boiling water. The shimmering lights of energy reacted instantly and tried to run wild.
He barely contained it as his reserves drained dramatically. He was sweating as his emerald eyes never looked away from the sphere.
The color began to shift to match the beast core. Golden flecks began to appear too, showing he was getting close. The sun flew across the sky and was nearing twilight when light flared from the sphere.
The medicinal scent of an elixir filled the air that attracted many beasts. They held back when they saw Lind.
He was heaving breath as if he had run a marathon but he quickly put out 4 jade vials and hoped they were powerful enough to contain what he had made.
He distributed the sphere and while the vials creaked, they held as he stoppered them. He collapsed on the ground with a smile.
He had done it! He was able to make things again! He had zero idea of what he had made that time as he had lost control but the aura was stable and had a pleasant aroma. The flickering gold in each vial also showed how profound they were.
He put them in his ring before he downed an elixir to recover enough to go back to his shack. He had to replicate and lower the cost as much as he could, but he was happy to be back in control of his skills.
