Chapter 1379 - 1378 - Gathering Resources
Chapter 1379 - 1378 - Gathering Resources
Lind spent the next century perfecting his control and efficiency. He had some failures but he also had a new goal.
He had discovered a new line of elixirs!
The first success had again been pseudo-Dao but it had been vastly different.
It took him 5 years just to figure out what it did!
"Beast Bloodline Refinement Elixir, how did I do that?" He was sitting on a much more ornate mat inside a well furnished room. Shelves held a mix of jade slips, materials, and artifacts.
It was fairly neat but Lind looked like he was in desperate need of a bath or at least some grooming as his emerald hair was going in all directions.
Unlike most beasts, his robes were crafted items and their innate features made them the cleanest thing in the entire room!
In front of him was the final vial of the elixir. He had Barbatos help him test it. A wounded golden shrike had been brought over that had reached the twilight years.
Its cracked scales mixed with the golden feathers of its body showed it had suffered serious deviation as well. The dark beak chirped in respect as Lind administered a low dose to the beast.
At first, nothing happened but then a soft azure and black glow emerged as a pungent smell filled the air. Massive impurities!
The shrike was not in distress at all as its body began to shift and became a massive body of more scales than feathers. It had gotten closer to a dragon bloodline from what Lind could feel.
The Qi deviation resolved and the vitality had soared as the beak changed to a roar.
The new beast was still a golden shrike but nearly a golden drake.
Testing had shown that the previously dormant bloodline had been refined. The avian bloodline had not been suppressed either but had been made to harmonize with the dragon.
It was a fascinating realization.
After that, several more beasts had been treated but he dared not use all 4 doses in a vial. It was quite possible a second dose could be fatal or worse, cause a crippling conflict inside their bodies that would make the rest of their years a nightmare.
Now that he had one vial left, he did want to test another aspect. If he could replicate it.
He pulled out the same set of herbs but the beast core had been from an obsidian sky hawk.
He did not have any more of those.
He brought out a demonic poison winged serpent core. The virulent yellow and cobalt core had similar properties to the sky hawk, only demonic Qi.
He wanted to know if he could replicate with other cores or if it was important the core was the focus.
All his previous elixirs had combined effects of multiple pills but he had realized there was a whole field of discovery. Elixirs were far more flexible than pills!
No pill could refine a bloodline like he had seen. There were pills to help improve bloodlines but they had to be tailored to the specific race.
His elixir had no such restriction! He had simply been attempting balance and synergy. The goal had been to control the process but his success made him explore his profession once more.
The extraction was much easier but as he tried to mix the aspects and Laws, he felt drastic resistance to his efforts. The herbs were demonic and he used Demonic Immortal Qi stones as well, but it was like none of it wanted to merge.
He recalled his previous attempt and frowned. He was using conjured water and flames but that was the only difference.
His eyes then went wide as he recalled another cost saving measure! The crushed elemental crystals!
He safely dispersed the current attempt and cleaned up the mess.
He sat down and started to meditate to see what was the cause of his issues.
Several days passed before his face cleared and a smile crossed it.
"Sovereign Tier intent is infused into my conjurings. It will shape things even when I don't want it to. I will need to work on that. The other issue is indeed the crystals." He was surprised.
His shortcut actually had a secret! Elements were part of everything and could be adapted so long as they were merged with the right ingredients or materials.
Lind had a lot of testing to do but glanced inside his ring with a frown. Crystals were not a problem as crushing even a grade 5 crystal should work, but herbs and other materials were running low.
He had been a bit prolific in the last 600 years.
He had also been very isolated. He needed to get updated and he also needed to get a lot of materials!
He frowned deeper as hiding his location was likely over. At the very least, it was possible the Frey Clan had at least had several successful ascensions since he left. The fact he was nowhere to be found would make his location apparent.
There was only 1 area no one cared about in the 4th layer.
He sighed as he waved his right arm and sigils flared to reveal a doorway. It let in a shaft of sunlight as he stepped out onto a modest patio with a garden at its heart. A towering steel oak gave him shade as he felt a welcome greeting from it.
The tree was close to becoming an Immortal so its intelligence was very high, but it was in no hurry. Steel oaks had silvery bark but vibrant green leaves that made normal trees seem dull.
He patted its trunk and touched a stone pedestal with a single jewel inserted at the top of it. The jewel flared but he knew a response would not be immediate.
At least, it was not supposed to be.
"SOVEREIGN FREY!" The dryad appeared from a tear in space but she had changed immensely. She was now a slim woman with dark tan robes and vibrant green lining on them as well.
Her face was narrow but elegant. The pale skin glowed with health as her hair seemed to sway only with the wind. It was likely a mixture of fine bark or vines.
"It is good–" He was pulled into the still open tear. He was expecting to be pulled to Barbatos' lair but instead he was brought to the edge of the forest.
His eyes went wide as he noticed a change.
Originally, the forest array was the end of it. The massive trees and other plants were sharply up against a much more pastoral stretch of land.
That had changed. He now saw grade 3 and 4 plants in all directions. He saw them outside the array! It had not been extended and he had not meddled with a weaving to try either.
Yet, the plants had improved!
"What is going on?" He looked at the dryad who was practically dancing in excitement.
"It started 3 centuries ago. The flow of Qi suddenly pushed beyond the boundary and the vitality of the land began to improve. The density of Qi also increased." He narrowed his eyes.
Something had to have changed in that time and it was not him. He had been experimenting with little change over the last 6 centuries, so what could shift the equation like that?
He stretched out his aura only for his eyes to go wide!
Harmonic Qi! A lot of harmonic Qi!
He smiled as he realized he could still hide too! If 6 elementals had exploded onto the scene, their need to gather resources would be immense and their power devastating.
"This will need more study but I think I know what is happening. There is a version of Qi not affected by the suppression formation. It will not restore the entire Under Lands for now, but in time, there should easily be a World Realm or Sky Realm limit that is no longer drained away so easily." The dryad smiled so wide he thought light was coming from behind her.
He examined some of the herbs and noticed they were much weaker than they should be still but they were thriving.
He tested a few weavings and the density improved as it resonated with his harmony.
He nodded as he turned to her and produced a jade slip.
"I need the following materials and this bracelet has items to trade for. There are no restrictions on the trades but spread them out, please." She happily took the items and hugged him!
"You do not know how miserable it was to be an envoy. I could feel the pain of all the plants and nothing could be done. They are so happy now and are growing again!" He patted her back as she quickly vanished once more.
He smiled as she would likely be coming back to apologize for leaving him after pulling him all the way there.
He looked around and smiled wider. He began to set up a few weavings to help stabilize the process but nothing else.
Too much interference could inhibit natural growth and the forest was not his territory, he was only a guest.
