Chapter 1332 - 1331 - Living Key
Chapter 1332 - 1331 - Living Key
Lind was unsure what happened exactly after the tool spirit was born but he was certainly tossed out of the Lost Realm as it was dying without its master.
He wondered if the phoenix had died or entered the cycle of rebirth. It took considerable resources and strength to retain their memories from one life to the next. Otherwise, a whole new phoenix would be born from the egg.
The original soul would disperse and a new one would take its place. In that regard, the ability of a phoenix to be reborn merely mimicked the normal cycle of birth and death. A vessel would rise from the flames of their death but it may not decide who was born.
Lind pushed all his considerations aside as his right arm had changes happening to it. The Laws of Life, Growth, and Rejuvenation were growing stronger in the sigils but he did not influence a thing.
He had simply been a catalyst. He could not make it happen or even shape it as he was not a god. He was not a parent either in that regard.
The spirit tools he made were different as his intent was imbued into the creations but the one fused to his right arm was wholly separate from him. It was fused to his body, yes, but that merely made him a glorified storage treasure.
He had been trying to find ways to invigorate a spirit to exist in the tool but reality was starkly different. It humbled him.
He could not create life simply because he wished to. He was allowed to resonate with Heaven and Earth so that between them his spirit tools could be born. An entirely separate creation could only be born naturally.
All Lind had to realize was he had to make a condition inviting enough for the spirit to take hold. The rest was up to life, itself.
Now, a spirit was forming in the shape of a small child. It was curled up in a fetal position and showed no sign of awakening. Unlike Abby, who simply needed a final connection to awaken, the newly born spirit in front of him had exhausted all its energy to be formed!
He carefully enacted several protections with weaving to make sure the spirit was safe but felt Abby finally awaken after her enforced slumber.
[Master? Where are we?] He smiled at her drowsy words but then looked up to answer and felt his own throat lock up.
They had definitely been in midair before, far from any civilization.
He distinctly recalled endless blue skies and fluffy white clouds shimmering with small rainbows as the sunlight reflected on the water molecules.
Yet, he was now in a meadow. Massive trees towered over him and the vitality was all too familiar.
"The Inheritance of Creation?" Abby should not be able to be there! How were they here?!
"Well, that was faster than expected." A familiar voice suddenly spoke up and Lind turned to find himself back in the study with the warm fire burning in it. The various ancient texts, jade slips, and other features had not changed even a millimeter from his memory.
The young boy, Divine Creator, was looking pale but stable. He was also smiling ear to ear as he examined Lind's arm.
"Excellent, truly excellent. Perfect birth! No impurity at all! You far exceeded my expectations!" Lind frowned at his words but knew voicing his frustrations were not going to help.
There was one thing he wanted clarity on.
"Was it you that made me resonate with Divine Void Phoenix?" Divine Creator lost his smile before a tired sigh left him.
The boy actually went to his desk and drew out a secret slot that appeared where smooth wood had been before.
The instant it was exposed, 3 rings glowed to his Eyes. Shockingly, they were familiar auras!
"True Lords are difficult creatures. You touch on the Divine as Immortals but that does not mean you become infallible. You usually become arrogant, narcissistic, and self-destructive. The few who do not, usually die protecting the races from the others." Lind realized the Divine Void Phoenix was not an outlier.
He looked at the rings and felt the spirits of each ring was damaged.
Without thought, his Forging activated and Divine Creator looked shocked as Lind repaired the rings. They were Dao Grade items! How was a mere Immortal fixing them?
"I can't fix the physical rings, but my harmony is far above me now. It allows me to at least aid them in healing." It was pure fact. Lind could not even scratch the surface of his own ring despite being bonded to it but Haro was a vastly different matter.
His recent battle also let him grasp what was going on at last.
"The rings can judge us, can't they?" Divine Creator nodded.
"It is not as well known down here, obviously, but in the Divine Lands it is common knowledge. That and a few other things you are not ready to know but should expect some cold shoulder treatments when you arrive?" Lind arched an eyebrow at the boy.
"When?" A smile returned but both froze as a feeling of pressure descended when the spirits were repaired. There were 2 women and 1 man but all 3 rings vanished which only made the pair smirk.
"Ahem, yes, when. You have shown you are well on your way to moving onto the next major realm but that will also mean you face the worst tribulations on top of the one for a True Lord." Lind could only hang his head.
Being a Divine bloodline should have made his tribulation a celebration rather than a trial but he never seemed to enjoy the kind Ethry had.
"What about the trial you just gave me?" Divine Creator seemed to approve of the fact Lind did not ask for more. It would not help him anyway as he still had to complete the final tier of the Immortal Realm.
The Sovereign Tier was a massive step and divergent from the previous tiers. Knowing the 4th layer was literally made by such beings told him he had much to grasp in that final tier.
"It was not an official trial but while you cannot be an Inheritor of either of our pre-cursor steps, I think you will benefit immensely from the Reincarnation Inheritance." Lind narrowed his eyes as he finally heard the name of the last Inheritance.
It was confusing to him, however.
Inheritance of Death and Inheritance of Creation were not perfect counterparts. Why would they be made as a key to Reincarnation? It was metaphorical at best.
"To what end, senior? What are you trying to get me to do?" Divine Creator laughed in his face.
"Trying to get you to do?! I am here to try and make my original self's goal a reality but here I went and found someone that can go beyond it! You don't just have a key, little dragon, you are a living key!" Lind did not see the big deal until a thought went through his mind.
"The Inheritors have to work together?" The Divine Creator nodded solemnly.
"Now that you have 2 fully working spirit tools, I can answer a few questions. The trio of us worked together. We saw so much death and undeath to make anyone sick of even trying to advance. Why keep living only to see more suffering?" The once lighthearted tone was replaced by a grim one.
Lind also felt like the youthful features gave way to an aged man at that moment. Was that what Divine Creator really looked like?
The ghost image vanished the next moment as the soul coughed. Since he did not have lungs, it meant his foundation was being disrupted.
"Damn, memories are too strong for this form." Lind was stunned to hear that even remembering the past was that taxing for the remnant soul.
"Regardless, we knew the stories of others that made Inheritances not to pass down a legacy but to improve the rising generation faster. There are limits as hollow shells are useless to us but we can help Immortals make leaps and bounds in progress." The soul sat down as he looked exhausted.
"What do you expect from the Inheritors?" If they were not meant to simply claim the legacy, then what was the point.
The young man smiled as he conjured the potent tea once again. The pair sipped at their simple ceramic cups as silence descended.
"Understand, when I speak next, I may vanish. When that happens, you may be violently expelled by that zealous child that watches over the greater lands of my Inheritance." Divine Creator looked so fragile at that moment but Lind nodded.
"Our theory was simple. Death and Creation are Daos that are the simplest for Immortals to start to grasp but together they could unlock a very potent Dao. The lost lives a cultivator has no idea they possess." Lind was confused.
Why would that help–?!
A flash of the spirit world came back to him. The sight of souls being reborn and some more solid than others. His own life was proof of what the previous knowledge could do.
Had he lived before James? Was there more to reveal in his journey?
As if reading his mind, Divine Creator shook his finger at him.
"You already have the Talent and have improved it. If you had more lives to reveal, you would have, but that is not all to be found in the Reincarnation Inheritance. You are a living key, you can unlock a legacy placed there. It was a remote chance but we hoped someone could claim it." The soul suddenly became a phantasm.
No legs or arms, just a torso!
"What legacy, senior?" Lind knew it would be the last thing Divine Creator said and the youthful face smiled at him in understanding.
"The one we started so long ago ourselves. The Legacy of the 6 Primordials–" The last word was too much but Lind shot up in shock.
His true journey only began when a staff had been found in a Ruin by him and Cyntilla. The 6 Primordial Immortals! They had made a legacy to try and solve the riddle of 6 elementals!!
He had thought that was as far as they got but that meant the Ruin was far older than he realized! He also felt a shock that Divine Creator revealed he was one of them! He quickly recalled the 6 individuals and aged one of the men to the ghost he had seen.
The Primordial Air Immortal!
