Eternal Emerald Dragon

Chapter 1331 - 1330 - Power of Laws

Chapter 1331 - 1330 - Power of Laws

Lind was recovering as much as he could but his enemy was not going to let him just sit there.

Gravity was suddenly changed around him to make it pull him up! It was not Qi but Laws!

The very fabric of reality was being bent by will alone!

Lind sneered as his crystal flared with his harmony. Gravity reasserted itself in the correct direction but he was disturbed how much resistance he felt. Laws were not just knowledge but the actual forces behind existence.

Immortals were beings that could manipulate them with their intent alone but they had to comprehend and delve into the intricacies of how each Law interacts with the rest of the world.

Normally, it was used in parallel with Qi to create powerful effects far more devastating than elemental Qi alone.

Lind was now experiencing the effect of Laws alone. He had not tried that much himself but the Divine Void Phoenix clearly had.

"You are too naive, ant. You will die after receiving my valuable lessons!" Light vanished from the world, followed by air, sound, and more. Laws of all kinds were being turned against him but Lind did not panic.

The ease of the attack was terrifying without question but a single spark of emerald shattered it all.

Laws were powerful but they were but a single aspect of a Dao!

Still, quantity could become quality given enough time. Lind was able to break free but he felt the pressure.

The narrow faced youth was surprised but he clearly did not panic. The world was distorting between them literally now. It was not just destruction by shockwaves or controlling the elements in the ground to change it, but the Laws alone.

Lind was quickly trying to adapt but his inexperience was now showing in the current phase of the battle.

His body could resist to a point but the real issue was Laws governed Qi itself. He could not recover without the Laws letting him do so!

He had severely underestimated the foundational effect Laws had on the world around him.

His mind raced as he used his harmony to escape once more. His Dao was protecting him for the moment but there were severe limits to his use of it.

He was simply too weak to properly bring his harmony to bear on the current fight. All he could do was disrupt with brute force.

The dance ravaged the landscape around them. The once rough landscape was essentially turned into glass and then shifted to a pile of ash. It was never allowed to settle as the Laws ripped it up like a hot knife through butter.

Lind was focused on his opponent but the attacks were coming from all angles. He had little to no warning until the effect was about to happen. It made things chaotic and a level of danger he had not felt in some time.

It felt like he was fighting against the world itself.

"You only delay your death. Your blood will nourish me and your dantian will reveal your secrets. You will open the way!" Lind finally understood why Heaven and Earth had not stripped away his title despite being clearly mad.

His control and skill far surpassed anyone he had ever met. Lind was learning but the steep curve left him far behind his foe.

He had no choice but to learn by doing.

The ground rumbled as searing heat soared around them. There were no flames, just the heat! Surprise flashed on the youthful face but then disdain filled alongside the madness.

"Really? The Law of Heat Transference against a phoenix? Pathetic!" Dragons and phoenixes shared a few traits and resistance to heat was one of them usually. It depended on their elemental alignment but phoenixes were almost always related to flames in some way no matter what.

Even the most novice mortal knew such a thing so why had Lind used that Law to start?

He sneered as the heat kept increasing until the Divine Void Phoenix stumbled. The youth tried to shake it off but did not seem to understand what was happening.

Just like all other cultivators, they grasped Laws and Qi but did not bother trying to understand the concepts behind them. Basic chemistry and physics were overlooked for the more fantastical results they could achieve!

It was not just the Law of Heat Transference he had invoked, but the Law of Flow as well! The air had nowhere to go and the result was inevitable.

Lind had already taken measures to protect himself but the phoenix fell out of the sky as the world settled at last.

He slammed into the surface and shattered it with ease. He was gasping in confusion but no matter what he did, nothing changed.

Lind did not give him a chance to recover as he launched his Battle Aura quickly to slam into him.

Just as it was about to strike, the air was torn apart right into the void. He lost a third of his weapons instantly as the forces in the void ripped away his connection.

It broke his aura but that was not all, it disrupted his Laws robbing the oxygen from the air.

"What did you do?! How did you rob me of breath?!" Lind did not bother answering as he quickly changed tactics to account for the void. He created an imbalance that caught the phoenix off guard!

All the atmosphere was being ripped into the open tear! Gravity was also lightened to the point no one could hold on to their stance!

The Divine Void Phoenix was forced to dismiss the tear himself or be tossed into the very attack he summoned. His rage was clear but the battle was shifting in Lind's favor as he used his pure intent to manipulate the Laws alone.

The power unleashed was stunning as it was like changing the notes on a music sheet. The instruments were the elements but the song was made up of the Laws themselves.

His mind suddenly made a leap on that analogy. Dao was not merely combining the Laws but it was a totality of the entire experience. The concert was the Dao!

His eyes flared emerald as harmonic Qi flared like a tidal wave. The once nearly even fight shattered to dust as the phoenix was sent into the surface even deeper than before.

Blood spurted from his face and his left arm was twisted in the wrong direction.

Lind felt his stamina and mental strength vanish at a terrifying rate but he did not letup as his harmony transformed his Battle Aura.

Battle Dao! He felt the change as he realized weapons were simply a mental catalyst for him that held him back. He conjured the aura and his body vanished from the sky.

His fist slammed into the gut of the Divine Void Phoenix. His tail suddenly appeared like a spear and struck like lightning. His claws were daggers and his whole body became the weapons he once needed externally.

Things were looking up but then Lind felt all the strength leave his body. He collapsed on his hands and knees as the phoenix lay bleeding and heavily injured not far from him.

Just a little more and he could strike him down!

"An ant is still an ant! I will rise up and shatter your–" A pressure appeared on them both as the mighty Divine Roc descended.

The tall figure that stood over them looked coldly at the pair.

"Heaven and Earth have declared a winner. You should understand how." Lind did not. How was there a winner in their current state? Both barely alive and one essentially tapped out could decide the fight but not yet.

A little time would allow both to recover but they were on fumes at the moment.

"I will consume–" The Divine Void Phoenix was looking happy when horror flashed over his face. Lind felt a familiar sensation of Heaven and Earth pressing down on them but it only brushed his soul before he heard the screams.

The Divine Void Phoenix fell from being a True Lord before his eyes. His body withered instantly. The price of authority was always vitality.

True Lords were granted far more than others but once that title was taken, all the vitality would be compounded on top of their own lifespan already lived.

"W–why?" Lind did not understand. Why did he win?

The roc looked at him but shook his sharp featured face.

"If you do not understand, I cannot explain. This battle is over!" The trio vanished and many powers came to investigate but no Immortal could grasp what occurred. It would remain a mystery for thousands of years until the Frey Clan revealed their Founder had faced a trial of life and death at that place he once faced the Blood Talon dragon.

Lind blinked and realized he was back in the Lost Realm but it had changed. It was now dimmer as 2 of the suns were dead. They hung in the air but he grasped something critical as the last sun was fading.

"The bastard tied his life to suns?!" He was contemplating that when a shock went through his mind.

"You used external means to cling to life but I changed myself to further explore my path. The battle was not just about victory but proving we are worthy of being a True Lord?" A breeze made him turn around and he saw the roc in human form smiling at him.

"I pushed my luck a bit as you are a bright child. The former True Lord of Phoenixes had used an external locus to keep going but just barely shied away from breaking the rules. When pushed to the brink he exceeded his authority to overcome your strength. You chose to grow. Heaven and Earth chose you due to that." A familiar feeling washed over him.

His discovery of how to advance 6 elemental cultivators had caused a celebration from Heaven and Earth long ago and now it happened again.

Lind felt a spark in his mind as his harmony gathered in his right arm and the sigils blazed with power. He kept trying to force things or trick it but he just let power flow into the fused artifact.

The roc's smile increased as a spirit seed appeared and sprouted into a nascent spirit!

Lind stopped as he grasped the truth. A True Lord does not just dominate but explores the world around them to lead the way! He had passed the trial!
