Chapter 1314 - 1313 - Creator
Chapter 1314 - 1313 - Creator
A month was far from sufficient to master his new elements. His weaving was okay but the other 2 professions were essentially useless.
He barely pulled off grade 1 and they were both low grades at that!
It was not to say he had not made any progress. He had identified part of the issue was how cultivators normally manipulated their elements.
A Soul Realm would form their elemental cores and learn to master them over the 9 tiers of the realm. The World Realm expanded that control externally into the world around them.
The entirety of the cultivation path could be said to be mastering the elements that made up the world. The only difference was what elements the cultivator started with.
His harmony added to that difficulty but now he truly grasped that he had been spoiled! Even when mastering his elements back in the Soul Realm, he was able to instinctively understand enough to control them with ease.
His issue had been balancing his tempering of his core compared to his foundation. Now, he could not even move the damn elements in his own body!
His harmony answered his command much like before but even that had some resistance! Still, it was far better than the rest.
It took 2 weeks before he understood the fundamental problem. He was trying to use the old methods to move the transformed elements. He was instinctively pulling on only a third of each element to perform his actions.
Of course it would not work!
Despite realizing the issue, he had to scrap his entire understanding of natural, demonic, and Celestial elemental Qi. He had mastered all 3 sets but only as each individual element. He had combined them to great effect but never truly as a whole.
He could no longer treat them as such but he had no foundation to work it out so quickly! His weaving was his only guide and even that was flawed.
He quickly understood his weaving could achieve the results of the previously separated elements because sigils were intent made manifest. It would not solve his issues to simply bypass his current state that way!
The remaining time he spent on using his weaving and harmony to study his new elemental centers of power. His crystal had not changed shape but the elemental centers of power had naturally positioned themselves to the greatest effect!
He realized that during his rebirth, the new body he had created had unconsciously touched on the same principle as the half-step Dao elements! How else could he withstand such change?!
His meridians were fine thus far but he knew using the full elements would damage them if he was not careful. He had to slowly temper his body and meridians as he progressed.
Once his time was up, the courtyard vanished and he found himself at the foot of the next set of golden stone steps. He did not see anyone but began to ascend.
He knew if he did not, he would be kicked out and he had already seen how incredibly the Inheritance could help him.
There were no platforms that time but he did feel pressure building on him. However, his harmony flared and the pressure suddenly vanished which told him he had exceeded the qualifications for reaching the next part of the Inheritance.
He was stepping up when the world shifted. He opened his eyes and blinked away the sunlight as he found himself in a strange setting.
He was sitting behind a desk with a stack of scrolls on his left and a tray on his right with unfurled scrolls laid out. He noticed the sharp scent of antiseptic cream was present before he looked around the modestly decorated office.
The wood was smooth but worn. He could see splinters fraying here and there on the shelves built into the walls. He saw no jade slips or anything he was familiar with aside from more scrolls, herbs, and a few artifacts he would see in a grade 3 or lower expert's possession.
He stood up and found a cracked mirror hanging over a basin and recognized his own face was there unchanged. What was going on? He had lost all his cultivation before but now it seemed he was fine.
Was his harmony messing up the trial?
The knock at the door drew his eye and he did not even respond before it opened and a woman very late in her pregnancy came in with a sickly look.
"Great healer, something is wrong." Lind did not need even a moment to see it was not a natural issue with pregnancy. He had helped birth many children in his sect and Empire. It was not his own children as his wives were adamant but he was a healer before everything else in his life.
He motioned to a woolen couch for her to lay down and took her pulse. He frowned as his skills did not tell him anything. It was like the woman in front of him did not exist. What was he supposed to do?
She was sweating and breathing heavily. Her dark hair was slicked to her skull and her clothes were soiled by dirt and sweat as well. He quickly glanced at the artifacts and pulled out a slate and orb pair.
He had the woman hold the sphere as he infused Qi into the slate. It worked but it was limited to only natural Qi!
His eyes shimmered with some understanding. It was not his memory but clearly he was seeing himself but actually limited to the World Realm! He quickly adjusted his thoughts and examined her as he would back then.
He made great progress but still had no answers. Everything seemed fine to his aura and artifacts but clearly she was not all right!
He then shifted to her belly and frowned. He looked around and found what he needed. It was a dark piece of cloth inscribed with arrays. He placed it over her stomach as she began to lose consciousness.
His senses finally got a response!
Her fetus was fine but the fluids flowing between them were not! There should be a healthy red glow of life for the most part but he found vile darkness.
Fiend Qi! It was damned Fiend Qi. His eyes shimmered but his harmony did not respond. For the first time in his life, he knew what it was like for regular cultivators to feel powerless in front of the Fiends.
"H–healer! Save him!" Her son was old enough to survive an early birth but she would definitely die! Worse, the Fiend Qi was clearly trying to infect the child too! Whoever put it in her was a sadistic bastard!
Lind was stumped without his harmony but he refused to let the damned Fiend Qi win!
"Do you trust me?" He looked into the woman's eyes and she smiled at him. She seemed to think it was her last moment in the world but he refused to let it be.
He was restricted to the World Realm but he still had all 6 elements! He may not have access to his harmony but he knew how to use it still!
He quickly began to use his 6 elements and felt resistance once more but it was normal now. It was simply the limit of his current realm, yet he persevered.
He balanced the stream of elements until an emerald spark appeared. He suspected the Laws he would need to consider so he did so. World Realms could not use Laws but to manipulate the external world required touching on those concepts.
The 6 conjured elemental orbs merged into the emerald spark and became a sliver of emerald power. He then pressed it against the woman's belly.
The Qi merged with her and she began to scream. He could do nothing else as the vile Qi collided with his faux harmonic Qi. The intent behind it was the Laws of Rejuvenation and Life when he created it.
The Law of Growth was also propagating the emerald Qi but it was so infused into his being that it would happen, he just assumed it would occur.
His actions worked! The vile Qi was converted and restored. It began to heal her and the womb. Her color improved before she fell asleep in exhaustion.
Lind nearly collapsed as well as it had taken everything in him to pull it off. The room vanished and he found himself looking at a young man that seemed troubled by his presence.
[That was not how you were supposed to pass the trial but it was effective.] Another spirit?! So was the previous one only in charge of that first trial?
"I used the 3 Laws the way I knew how, senior. May I ask how I was to save the woman?" The young man with sandy hair frowned before shaking his head.
[The woman was to die for the baby to live. The harsh choices to preserve life and allow the race to grow will rejuvenate the future generations. Yet, your solution was accepted.] The spirit seemed annoyed but Lind was irritated.
"What kind of trial is that?!" He roared as his anger could not be contained but the spirit ignored him. He simply waved his hand and Lind found himself in front of a familiar courtyard.
The female spirit seemed surprised to see him but then her eyes flickered and she sighed.
[Forgive him, he is still young. In a few billion years he should be more mature.] Lind was still angry.
"What was the point of that trial?! Why wouldn't I save both child and mother?!" The spirit froze at his words before she tilted her head when shock crossed her face.
[Y–you are a Creator?!] Her question confused him. [That trial is to confront the harsh choices of what Fiends can do. It was one of many scenarios based on your abilities. It was to show you that the Laws are not all powerful but can still be used to save a life in such a dire situation.]
Lind calmed as he realized the feeling of helplessness was not just his own experience but the intent of the trial.
It was only then he understood her words. Lind had found a solution that was only possible because he created it. He was able to recreate his harmony due to how intimately he studied them. Without a soul, it was only half the power but it still worked.
The creator of the Inheritance would not know of such a method but the trial taker would!
Lind snapped back as a slap was heard and saw the young man weeping as the woman was beating him.
[You fool! You should know what this means! He is not a failure but what we hoped for!] The words drew his attention but it seemed the young spirit had more punishment to come.
