Eternal Emerald Dragon

Chapter 1308 - 1307 - Splintered Perspectives

Chapter 1308 - 1307 - Splintered Perspectives

The events instigated by the attack inside the Inheritance of Death had been devastating. Ancient guilds found their entire business destroyed in less than a week. Secrets hidden from the public also brought down so many guilds that even the Sovereign Tiers had to act!

It was not just in the 3rd layer either! The 4th and 2nd layers were sent into an uproar! Many highly respected guilds were revealed to be actively hindering cultivators outside the middle powers and below!

Many had known but there was no proof to tie them to the now fallen guilds. Still, those that were far more righteous were now sniffing around so they took quick actions to suppress the guilds.

Arguments in the upper echelons took many forms. Some wanted to rip open all the secrets hidden by various powers while others wanted to simply accept what was already done.

The loss of business and trade was a massive problem for many powers and markets. The Frey Clan and others could take up part of it but not all trusted them.

The chaos unleashed was more than political but actual real world danger. Resources were no longer flowing and merchants that had nothing to do with the guilds guilty of tainting their goods were now suffering.

It was like a landslide of misery spread across the Celestial Fields until it hit the 1st layer.

There, mostly due to the fact the older powers had not bothered dedicating themselves to re-establishing themselves down there, it hardly caused a ripple.

The recovery actually started from there. Powers that had barely been able to make a foothold in the higher layers found explosive growth almost forced on them.

It took decades but the 1st and 2nd layers stabilized.

The 3rd and 4th layers, however, had resistance still put up to stop the drastic changes they witnessed coming. The only exceptions were ones like the Frey Clan. They now were connected to 2 Divine Inheritances!

The Inheritance of Creation was revealed and relieved pressure slightly on the Icy Path. Lind Frey, however, was revealed to be acknowledged by another Divine Inheritance. Thus various meetings were being convened constantly to decide how to deal with him.

One such place was in the 4th layer. While no official power existed to mediate disputes, it was convention for the Sovereign Tiers to gather if an issue that posed an issue across all realms had to be addressed by them and their respective allies.

As such, a place was created for them to gather. It was a strange piece of land that floated above the majority of the 4th layer's accepted ground level. It was not made of soil or ore like other floating masses. The 4th layer was not as simple as the others.

Sovereign Tiers manifested their will externally and thus reality bent to their command to a point. Elemental Qi was made solid with a thought compared to having to use all their spiritual Qi or other aspects to control it previously.

The floating mass was an amalgamation of natural and demonic Qi. Pillars shaped into external seating allowed for people to sit and debate over a large area. Each pillar was not much different on the surface but internally, they each carried the intent or will of the Sovereign Tier that made them.

Now, several thousand Immortals sat on them. Their numbers were greatly reduced from the height they had once reached but were rising once more. Over a million years of being cut off from the rest of the Celestial Fields had proven that even they were not as disconnected as they had believed from the lower realms.

While most of the conversation was between allies, at the head of each pillar were peak Sovereign Tiers. Some looked so ancient that a slight breeze could shatter their bones while others were difficult to even look at. Their aura was so strong that even restrained, it imposed on others.

The number of pillars varied over time but currently there were a little over a hundred. Each pillar held hundreds of seats as they reached into the sky. The normal weather cycle did not exist in the 4th layer but the sun and moons still moved.

They were much closer compared to the other layers.

In the vast group, there were those with more authority than others but there was no unity here. The point of the pillars meeting was to find consensus on issues that could affect them all.

[I think we have been here a month and still have no answers. We all agree that 2 Divine Inheritances is unprecedented, but the fact they are counterpoints to each other and appeared at roughly the same time indicates there could be more.] An withered aether child let his thoughts be known. His black and gold skin showed he was a very rare type. Light and darkness usually opposed each other but he had been born with a powerful ability.

[You just wish you were still a Radiant Tier, Starforge Immortal. That Inheritance of Creation is right up your alley!] A wizened old man with very thin white hair and milky eyes laughed at his accusation. The Starforge Immortal did not deny the words either.

None could deny their regrets to be unable to descend to participate in the Divine Inheritances. Even if they could not claim the entirety, it was very likely that something could exist to help them progress.

Any that made it the Sovereign Tier knew the next realm was a nigh impossible wall to overcome. They could live for several billion years but time still ran out. Their bodies were not eternal and after the body was gone, the soul would wear away until it too broke down.

It was not quite death but not unending life either.

[We are not here to debate what cannot be, but the issue of the complete disruption caused by those brats!] A demon spoke up. He had half formed horns and torn wings but they were not damaged. It was simply the result of his cultivation path as a corrupted demon.

Many cheered on his words but others sneered at him.

[You merely are trying to hide how you supported those vile products to impede any possible enemies! You should face them openly, not hide behind weakness!] A voluptuous demoness spoke up. She had a rare set of eyes that were 2 colors. One was cobalt blue and the other pure obsidian.

She seemed very young but few could look at her without feeling suppressed. She was not a peak Sovereign Tier, yet she was at the top of one of the more populated pillars.

[Souldancer Immortal, you are not innocent either! You were long invested in the Royal Pill Pavilion! Do not pretend–] A human woman stood up and was pointing her delicate finger at the demoness but an aura suddenly swept outward across them all.

The Immortals looked at the tallest pillar. It was not a humanoid on it, but a massive scaled beast. It had fiery orange scales, 4 massive limbs that could shred them all with ease and wings that could easily cover 5 to 6 kilometers when fully spread out.

The 2 black horns shimmered with lightning as the maw of the dragon blew a stream of yellow flames into the air.

[The True Lord declined to control the 2nd Inheritance. It was only the spirit that acknowledged him as worthy of entering it. He had not done so out of consideration of his position. Do any object to that?] Many wanted to but dragons were not known for listening to opposition.

Further, it was a fact that Lind Frey was their True Lord. He was also a Divine Progenitor on top of that. Any chance of the dragons not siding with him was moot.

What stunned them was the gold and silver tiger lounging on her pillar that roared in support! The dragons and tigers usually agreed on nothing!

What looked like a pillar next to them opened its silver eyes at them and sneered.

[Your race has produced a pathetic True Lord this time. He could not stay true to his bonds and broke them willingly. I say Lind Frey be removed from both Inheritances entirely!] The black shelled tortoise rarely had such venom but not all of its race seemed to agree with its words.

[Do not pretend your were filial all your life you lazy bastard–] A woman with bright green robes on his shell jumped up but all were once again interrupted.

A lone fiery figure suddenly appeared on a pillar across from the dragons. She was gorgeous and her eyes were flames instead of any particular color. Her aura was on par with the orange dragon as well.

[You waste time here with the old arguments and settle nothing but while you are distracted, the True Lord of the Dragons has revealed there is a 3rd Inheritance tied to the first 2. The spirits of each Inheritance have censured him but he revealed it anyway.] Her words were like lightning striking water.

It caused an explosion of power!

Voices spoke over each other until she once again drew their eyes. Her flaming wings had encompassed nearly all the pillars on her side. The flames did not harm flesh but the soul! A Soulflame Phoenix was a damned rare thing and supposedly another had been brought up under Lind Frey as well!

[The nature of the Inheritance is not known but the disruption of pills and other resources needs to be brought to an end. Invest in the proven superior products or not. Continue to be prideful idiots, or not. The choice is up to you respectively.] Her words shamed some but made others want to shout her down.

A stunning voice made them all swallow their words.

[She is right. The Goldensoul Immortal is right.] A mighty roc perched between the dragon and phoenix pillars spoke up. Her wings were as dark as the night but sparkled with stars it seemed. Her bright gold eyes stood out because of her body.

A roc agreed with a phoenix?! Even the dragon wondered if he was dreaming.

The pair then left. It was like no more had to be said. The fractious meeting had not really produced a consensus as hoped but they all felt their priorities shift. If there was a 3rd Inheritance, it might not be in the 3rd layer but in their own!

The group dispersed quickly to their own places of power. They had to plan and begin to shift resources to be ready whenever the 3rd one appeared. A change was coming! They could feel it!
