Eternal Emerald Dragon

Chapter 1259 - 1258 - Defiance

Chapter 1259 - 1258 - Defiance

Lind kept getting smacked around. Just when he thought he had a grasp on the danger he only came to truly touch the edge of it. Even now, knowing that the scars were not just in the spirit world but all worlds, he did not fully understand how the threat worked.

Supposedly, the Great One had been punished but all it did was strip away his attempt to make a variant of the Celestial bodies. He took his whole race down with him but the Great One pushed it to consume souls as resources enough to not only survive but become a power Heaven and Earth could no longer ignore.

The Fiends were weakening the rules of Heaven and Earth at each realm and before long the very bone between all life would be broken down. The other Fiends might think that meant they would live forever but only 1 being would.

The Great One wanted all of existence to fuel his dantian and never die!

The body he created was superior and spiritually tied to all the Celestials that were turned into Fiends. Every Fiend since became an extension of him.

His previous theories only scratched the surface of the threat and how badly things actually were.

It was no wonder Divine Realm cultivators were intervening in Samsara!

They had to have a far better grasp of the threat than he did! The issue was likely that killing a Divine Realm cultivator was immensely difficult!

It weighed on him but it also gave him an answer he had been looking for. He had been partially wrong about his previous failures.

The chaotic nature of the spirit world was a major hurdle but the problem he did not know was he was ignoring the greater problem. The scars were not left over damage but a single injury to it all!

He also grasped what was going on with his random body construction. He was only being exposed to one facet of the injury. The flow of Qi, Laws, and Dao was erratic from a single scar.

If he could be exposed to all of them at once, he might actually rebuild a body in line with his current soul. Sadly, he was only a single being and not able to be in multiple places at once.

Unlike the rest of the spirit world, the scars were in fixed relative positions. No matter how the world shifted or the silver clouds wrapped around him as he flew, the scars never moved relative to him or each other.

It was an intrusion of the physical world into the spirit world. His own local effect was not as strong as that. The most he could do was solidify a slab of stone on an unconscious level.

Anything after that took conscious effort and would strain him until it was dismissed. Conversely, his weavings previously simply wore out due to the limits of his power to infuse into the sigils and traces.

Complexity just led to a more spectacular failure when it occurred.

Now, he could create a weaving that could survive but he had no illusion about making progress using a single scar now. He was thinking too small it seemed.

It was the basis of his issues. Each time he tried to reduce the vast problem to something he could accept, he ignored the wider implications.

He knew Fiends were a tragedy through and through. Yet, he now knew they were more of an existential threat than he had ever conceived of. It was entirely possible the Divine Realm cultivators were barely hanging on from stopping the Great One from advancing his cultivation to whatever realm he needed to achieve his goals.

What kind of desperate battle had they been waging for how long? It made the battle in the Heaven Realm Lands seem like nothing.

"Just children playing house." Lind shook off his negative thoughts. It was only making him spiral. He now had a better grasp of the situation but the resolution was impossible. He was not strong enough.

"How did he do it at the Sky Realm? How was he able to do such an audacious thing that had such dire results? I know far more than he did then but he was able to do far more with souls. He took a horrific shortcut for sure, but he still had to know how." It was the one mystery he could not solve.

The Great One was reborn like him with at least a common similarity in knowledge. Being a Celestial cultivator did allow for learning more about reality but he had been using the QI and had met Celestials up to the Sliver Tier in the Immortal Realm.

They had wisdom but no more than most cultivators he had met. What was he missing then?! How could someone so much younger and weaker have made a massive breakthrough in the usage of souls?!

It made no sense! Just what was it the bastard did to make himself into an undying Fiend?!

He had struggled mostly due to being an Immortal and his unique condition but even then, making a body from scratch was way harder than anything he had ever understood. How did people do it even with the techniques he knew of?

A soul could adapt but a cultivator refined their soul to be a part of their Dao. That kind of soul had far higher requirements and yet a Sky Realm not only met them but massively altered the body to do what he wanted.

"Vile bastard was a genius." He hated to admit it but it was the only avenue left. Lind suspected the normal requirements for rebirth with complete memory was higher than the spirits had told him.

The massive imbalance the Great One caused had let a much lower bar in. It was only a theory but it was possible.

The spirits refused to tell him the criteria, only that the soul touched on cultivation.

"So what was my brush with cultivation? Dying to save a life?" He snorted at his own poor humor but a small giggle drew his eye.

A small head of hair danced in the air before looking at him in amusement. The little girl was dressed finely for some reason compared to the normal simple clothes she wore. A robe of violet lined in gold with arcane symbols that made his hair stand on end.

Why was she wearing that with her dark hair tightly up in a bun?

"You're silly! You have lived by your Dao since your old life! Why are you acting confused now?" Lind stared at her. What was she talking about? A Dao since his old life? He was just a normal salaryman at best in his old life.

He had friends and family but no social life to speak of. Some might call that a bit of a monastic lifestyle but surely not a cultivation Dao! He was just surviving like everyone else!

He was no Buddhist nor was he a believer in anything. In fact, he got real mad when told he defied Fate for others in his old–

His soul pulsed as an emerald torrent of Qi flowed out of him. The entire spirit world was shaken by his awakening.

For millennia he had tried to understand the harmony he had birthed. He had hoped a harmonic stone held the answers in the Rakathi Wastes but it was not to be.

Every avenue of parallel analysis always came to a dead end because nothing was like him. Other harmonies were effective against Fiends but he was like death on 2 legs to them.

The 6 elemental cultivators had the advantage of fusing their souls to their foundation. It made them a natural enemy of Fiends but it varied. His was the only one that could purify their Qi like he did.

He could invigorate other cultivators or even heal wounds with his harmony in the right combination of conditions. His ability to be a Triple Maester likely stemmed from it as well as no one else in the 6 elementals he encountered had more than 2 professions.

His data set was not small either! One reminder after another coalesced until an old memory came up.

A blonde and brunette pair of women were talking to him about why he was getting to keep his memories. They showed him one example after another where he shifted the original plan for other people's lives.

He had been so angry at the revelation. He had not understood why he was angry so much but with his new comprehension, he began to grasp the limits of what they could tell him now.

"Fate is my enemy." He spoke arrogant words but it echoed in his entire being as his harmony advanced. He began to improve as Qi flowed into him like a storm. Laws that had troubled him became as transparent as glass.

Two gigantic emerald eyes snapped open above him but he was unaware. The spirits shivered in fear. The old woman knelt down in fealty as the little girl smiled wide.

"Finally awake at last!" She danced happily as the eyes glanced down before rolling in amusement! They vanished before too long but their presence was burned into the spirit world!

The emerald storm calmed down as Lind exhaled and opened his eyes. Gone were all his worries as he looked at the scars and he sneered.

"Weak. You ran away like a child for all the understanding you had. You took the easy route. I refuse to worry about you anymore!" His fingers glowed as new ideas filled him. One thought above all.

Fate was his enemy. Fate would never make him kneel again! It had tried to force him and trick him into letting it guide his path but he would not let it anymore!

"I know who I am now. I am the possessor of the emerald harmony, the defiance of Fate! I will forge my own path now and forever!" The skies rumbled but he ignored them. Heaven and Earth liked Fate but did not force it on others.

He sneered as he understood the limitations of Fate. It looked for patterns and tried to force the world into a certain shape. The spirit world was beyond it! It was why he felt so free there!

If not for this journey, he may have not figured it out for millions of years!

Fate was intentionally blinding him and trying to distract him outside of the Fiends themselves.

"You thought to use me but people are not tools. Get that through your thick head and we will get along fine." He spoke aloud but he was unsure if anything was actually listening. Like Heaven and Earth it could be closer to a system of rules more than anything.

He looked at the golden sky and a smile spread on his face.

"Let's do something crazy!" His voice echoed to the shock of the spirits but unlike before, they felt joy. They felt excited. Something new was going to happen! They couldn't wait!
