Chapter 1237 - 1236 - Massacre
Chapter 1237 - 1236 - Massacre
A small mountain of crystals, beast cores, Qi stones, and ores were set up just outside of the main entrance of the Serenity Sect. A single figure was carefully inspecting them as he nodded with a smile.
His large mane of emerald hair marked him as the legendary Emerald Immortal. Several demons followed behind him as he started to speak and point at the peaks around them.
"Set up a few arrays there, I can use them to gather Qi." The demons nodded and began to take predetermined amounts of each pile before he quickly began to engrave on the remaining materials.
His fingers glowed emerald as he began to look pale. He was pushing himself as the cloud of soulless was nearly done forming up. They would be on the move soon.
The demons swiftly returned and took the now woven materials.
It was tricky to combine weavings and formations but woven materials were the one exception. They were used as flags or eyes of the formation but in the current case they were the main materials.
The formations were going to be supportive only while the weaving did the heavy lifting. It was the only chance they had against the soulless.
They were severely outnumbered and the damned things were already vicious enough one on one! All Lind could do was even the odds.
He had not employed the particular tactic he was doing now but it was because it required massive logistical support. He had no time to set up massive arrays without help. Speed was only so much help when dealing with constant battles.
He noticed a ragged scouting party had returned but did not spare a moment away from finishing his task. He took a portion of the materials and began engraving a weaving in the open area in front of the entrance.
Sigils flared to life as traces were forged from the materials themselves. The interplay between the formation and his weaving would be critical to give them a chance.
"Lord Emerald Immortal, the horde is coming." Rejuvenation Immortal arrived and looked winded as she relayed the message. He only barely nodded as he focused on his work. There was still time!

Kexin swung a few warm up passes on her short swords. She had very little to contribute to the preparation and waiting for battle had always been a little hellish for her. Her harmony could not be blamed either as she was originally raised in the Blood Empire.
Life was all about struggle and battle, but Lind had taught her other ways. Still, when a battle loomed on the horizon, she became tetchy. Waiting for fighting was irksome!
"Kexin, the soulless are coming!" Tessa rushed over and was smiling. For all that she was from Drakmor Kingdom, she too was enthralled when battle was on the duty list. Further, there was no need for morals or pity in the coming battle.
It was a pure fight for survival against monsters.
She had no compunction of killing idiots coming after her, but the lectures afterward about having mercy for the defeated or possible advantages for negotiation with foreign forces bored her to tears!
There was no chance of that this time!
She launched herself into the air and joined the few thousand demons facing the onslaught of the soulless monsters. Many looked grim and had clearly accepted death. Idiots.
Accepting death is as good as being dead in battle. Numbers do not matter. Fight to win! Fight to defeat your enemies! Fight to dominate!
Her black flames licked her eyes and limbs. Those near her shivered but that was all. The threat of the horde far surpassed anything else.
Kexin was about to start shouting when the flap of leathery wings reached her ears. The air changed as all the demons felt a wave of euphoric pleasure followed by the desire to worship the dark being moving ahead.
Kal had fully transformed. Becoming a Radiant Tier had pushed his skill to a new extreme. His horns neatly curled twice above his head, the tail was now barbed with lethal poison, the hooves could shatter most grade 7 materials alone, and the wings were no longer so flimsy either.
He looked over the amassed forces and his eyes seemed to glow with all the demonic elements before he spoke to them.
[We will kill! Nothing else matters but killing. Do not stop. Do not worry about your comrades. We live by killing. Go forth and do what we do best!] Kexin whole heartedly approved the message but knew in her heart that the arrogant boy would save his sister in a heartbeat if she got in trouble.
He was a big softie. She smiled at the same time as she shivered with his aura washing over her. Long acquaintance did not make it any easier but her harmony burned away his control.
She would be controlled by no one!
The dark clouds of enemies began to move closer and they rose to meet the front of it. The battle was finally beginning!
Her weapons lit up with black flames as Tessa's also were covered in virulent green. They had confirmed with Lind they were the greatest threat to the soulless!
She shot forward as the roar of many voices shouted back the inevitable defeat all had accepted before. The small demonic force sliced through the front ranks of the soulless like they were a hot knife through butter!
Kexin paid no more mind to her fellows as the headless monsters silently swooped down from all angles but met only oblivion if they came near her. Once her flames got on their bodies, their fate was sealed!
She tried projecting her harmony in a Searing Lance Art attack but the creatures were too fast to hit them much farther than a handful of meters from her.
Tessa, on the other hand, used the oddly named Indiana Crack Art. It had been created between Shoti and Lind long ago. It summoned a whip from harmonic Qi in Tessa's case and snapped out in rather showy whip cracks.
Normally, that would do nothing but with her harmony, it only had to graze the damned things. The pair were devastation incarnate for the soulless.
For every 1 the other demons destroyed, they killed at least 3 to 4 at a time. It was impressive numbers, but it did not change the endless tide coming at them.
Time became irrelevant as Kexin slaughtered the soulless. They did not seem to care that they could not get near her. She lost count of how many were destroyed when her instincts screamed at her.
Something was coming!
She conjured shadow and metal at the same time to repel everything around her. Lind called it Magnetic Repulse Art but she simply knew it moved anything living or metal away from her.
An ash grey woman tried to slip near her but the Art caught her off guard and left her reeling. Kexin had no need to pause. Her swords beheaded the Fiend before she could recover!
Her black flames suddenly engorged on the body and consumed all the soulless around her.
[THERE ARE FIENDS IN THE HORDE!] She projected the message as far as she could before she realized it was too quiet around her.
She slowly glanced around in rising anger as she saw more Fiends killing demons! They hid among the soulless to get close enough to slaughter them all!
"BASTARDS!" Her voice shook the air as a gigantic black blaze surrounded her. Not far away, a virulent green pyre appeared as well but it was much farther than it should be!
The Fiends had separated them?! Some obscure sensory Art?!
Where was Kal?! She looked around but then saw he was engaged in a 3 on 1 battle in the air above!
The soulless were simply moving on now towards the Serenity Sect.
[Lind! They are coming!] She sent a single message and did not wait for his response. She had much better enemies to kill!

Lind was covered in sweat as he was well aware of who had arrived. It was truly the final offensive from the damned Fiends.
Still, he smiled. The final sigil was engraved and incorporated into his weaving.
[NOW!]
His message went out and all the peaks in sight lit up with an emerald blaze. The soulless did not react but he saw several Fiends made to appear as their concealment Arts were destroyed.
Their confusion was amusing as he slammed his scale covered hand into the heart of his weaving.
[GO TO HELL!] Lines spread from his fist like lightning until a massive sigil appeared. If it was to be given a name it would be the most basic concept on a scale never before seen by anyone.
Purify.
Elements from all 3 kinds flowed like a tsunami across the skies and the Fiends tried to break it only to realize in horror their attacks fueled it.
"Not so nice to have your ability used against you, is it?" Lind murmured as his crystal strained to keep up his own flow of Laws and Qi. He was pushing himself to the limit!
The pressure built until even the sigil seemed on the verge of collapsing under its own power. Then, a crack was heard across the Endless Peaks. None knew what it was but one.
Lind smiled as the gigantic sigil shattered with a storm of emerald Qi. A coherent sphere of power swept outward with no hope of escape!
For the cultivators, they thought the end had come but were stunned when wounds were healed and Qi replenished.
The soulless and the Fiends, however, were not having such a pleasant time!
The soulless were reduced to ash. They simply fell apart as the wave propagated outward. Lind had hoped to get 50 to 60% of them but the Fiends had given him a gift.
Their bodies were burning up! The Fiend Qi was being transformed into fuel for the wave! They screamed as the souls in their dantian were released forcibly from them! Their eternal lives were snuffed out as Qi and souls were ripped away!
Lind collapsed to his knees as he watched the once doomed filled skies became a massacre. A massacre of hope!
