Lind discovered Ranger was right. Jade communication stones, that previously could not go farther than a single city, if that, were now working better than before. The Qi consumption was still ridiculous but that was due more to the tainted Qi than anything.
He also felt lighter himself despite never being affected by the bloodline array. He suspected his harmony had been fighting it all that time combined with his mental strength. Now that the constant pressure was lifted, he was much lighter!
He was also now at peak high Crystal Tier! He had broken through! His dantian was depleted but he should recover in a few months with some dedicated cultivation.
His foundation was shaky though, so that could take far longer to resolve. Had his karmic restitution pushed it through or touching whatever Dao was at the heart of his harmony? He did not know the answer but he might get some insight as he solidified his foundation.
The pair emerged onto the surface and were shocked at what they saw.
Plants had exploded along the very veins of the array! There were now towering trees that were native to the plains the formation eye had been hidden in. Lind stretched his aura and was relieved to see that the city ruins were safe.
He frowned as he saw a pile of corpses inside the wards but getting everyone through alive was always a pipe dream at best. He confirmed his loved ones were alive but Teegan was in rough shape.
Petryn was not too good either but he was resting.
The brothers were covered in dried blood but collapsed in a corner intact. Nana was with Jur and Katara.
Oz was helping distribute elixirs and bandages.
Lind smiled to see the refugees were emerging from their homes and looking at the strange changes to the city.
He had only been able to purge it inside his wards but it had been enough. Now, it was gone entirely and he confirmed part of the reason they could not recover was that even inside the wards it affected them.
They were not cured, but they might start to heal!
"Master, I detect many people running away from us, should we chase them?" He smirked at Ranger's enthusiasm but shook his head.
"We need to head back. I am afraid we have to take the long way this time. My foundation is shaky and I am exhausted. Elixirs won't help me at the moment. Let's go." His cultivation was tapped out but his body was steadily improving.
A dragon's stamina was not to be underestimated!
They walked along and Lind noticed some oddities in the world like the newly grown plants.
The city seemed to have a very different reaction from nature. The buildings along the paths of the previous veins now glowed with Qi. It was only as he examined them that he understood they were grade 7 materials!
Metals, stone, and even clothes that were buried in the rubble were profoundly transformed back into raw materials! Elemental crystals had sprung up of all 6 natural versions but he detected a few demonic ones buried under the surface!
The Law Binding was also recovering suddenly in the areas the veins had passed through before. He found that odd. He had no tie to the creator of the Law Binding nor access to the Law Core.
The Core had been destroyed so why was the Binding recovering?
He had to search near the former center of the city to notice the Core was no longer destroyed! It had been restored!
How was that possible? He had never made a Law Core in his life!
He had to be a formation master to do that! He could add Laws to a Core, but he could not create one!
The Law Array was repaired as well! He narrowed his eyes as he realized it was odd.
The inscription that had previously been laid into the stone foundation was broken at several points but now had glowing sigils he had never seen before! They completed the Array!
He wanted to study it but he had higher priorities.
It would take them a few days to get back but they were in no rush.
The world was waking up from the nightmare none had known was strung over their minds. The Corruption was still there but now there should be a more concerted effort to fight it! He may not even have to get involved!
He hoped that would be the case but given few knew what caused the Corruption, they would need his information. He also felt several spikes of auras to the west.
They were dragons and they were coming toward him.
He would deal with it when they came.
His aura expanded as far as he could take it but Ranger was right. The former forces arrayed against them were running for the hills.
He also noted several black cloaked figures far to the north and east but they were beyond his power to attack.
He noted the directions they took at first but they scattered like the rest. It would be impossible to find them all.
"Master, what will happen now?" Ranger was on alert for beasts but Lind ignored them. Only a suicidal creature would come near his currently released dragon aura.
"Far too much to compress in a few words. I need to recover and your baby will be born soon. I need to be in shape to help with that. It will be the first birth I assist with in the 2nd layer! The brothers need to prepare for their trials and Crescent City will need to be rebuilt. The refugees need a purpose and that will be a good one." He listed off the most pressing issues for them but his emerald eyes looked to the future.
"The Fionan Empire will send more envoys. They may not like you being here, Master." Lind nodded but shrugged.
"I am a guest elder of the Heavenly Maiden Sect. I will not step outside that authority although I may have to explain what the hell just happened with the Law Array and Core. I will need to study those too." Lind just felt a growing list of things to do and all of it prevented him from heading west.
He felt it now. The flow of harmonic Qi led to his goal and he just had to find it!
As they crossed the vibrant forest, Lind noticed things he had not before. The chirping birds, far off sounds of bestial battle, and even the flow of wind had changed. The world had been so depressing before but he had not noticed it!
A grin spread on Lind's face as he slowly recovered until a day had passed. He was finally able to tear through space enough to drop them in front of the wards. His Eyes revealed they were far more efficient now that the strain of the bloodline array was gone.
They had not gotten far when a golden blur appeared and tackled Lind to the ground.
"PAPA!" Jur was excited as she hugged him and he allowed her to indulge herself.
"You did well, very well, Jur. I could not be prouder." He patted her head and her tail swished so quickly even he had trouble tracking it.
She actually started purring. His eyes narrowed as he realized she was a bit too happy but a dark blur was the only warning before Priestess Chu swept him up in a princess carry.
"Husband, we must retire to our room to celebrate!" Ranger seemed to stumble but Lind was growing concerned. He used his mental skills to check both women but found nothing wrong.
"Ranger, how do you feel?" The demon seemed to ponder for a bit but then shrugged.
"I feel better than before but nothing much else. It is far easier to focus my mind and some memories came back to me that were somehow missing without my knowledge. It is an odd feeling but that is all, Master." Lind nodded but before he could investigate, the 2 brothers came running over.
"Your back! We did well, right?!" Bori was acting like he was a young child again but Lan seemed not much better.
A sudden thought occurred to him.
"Scatter!" The wards shimmered until the weavings shut down. The moment they vanished, the 4 arrivals blinked before seeming to calm down. Ranger seemed confused but Lind understood.
His weavings were designed to counteract the bloodline array which he had not fully grasped. With the array gone, the weavings had over compensated the other way. In essence, he put them in an extremely good mood!
[Everyone that can hear my voice. You are fine. The wards were still running to counteract the bloodline array. It is gone. The sect wars are over. Rejoice as you desire and let us rebuild. Let us find peace.] Lind projected his mental message to all in range.
The people calmed themselves but it seemed it still helped the refugees unintentionally. He made a note of it for the future when Qing reunited with him.
"Come, let us have a celebration! There is much to do but not today! Let us have fun!" Lind felt like a massive weight had been lifted from his shoulders. The sect wars had been stopped and who knew how many other conflicts.
He had not just freed an area of the world but the entire layer!
The Corruption remained but he had a good lead at last!
The party returned to the war tower and began to celebrate their victory. They also acknowledged the dead. Petryn and Teegan joined them eventually after Lind had tended to them.
Delenn's intervention had surprised Lind but he could not find her in range anymore. He would deal with it later but for now, hope returned for the first time in over a million years since the Corruption spread across the land!
