Chapter 1075 - 1074 - Shifting Sands
Chapter 1075 - 1074 - Shifting Sands
The handsome man was washing his hands in a basin. He was well muscled but not overly so as his dark pants made a nice contrast against his paler skin. There were some scars on his body but only a few.
It was clear he was a well toned warrior but his face made him look like a playboy. His warm smile and pale eyes entranced many a partner to his bed. The pair of sleeping forms peacefully sleeping in the crumbled sheets and blankets made that quite evident.
He used air Qi and a towel to dry his hands before sighing.
"All that work and it is undone in an instant. We underestimated this enemy." Prince Nest ran a hand through his hair but his gentle look was gone. A dark and serious face was in the mirror on the darks tone wall.
It was a decent place but not the best. Few would believe a prince would use such a room but that was why he chose it.
He glanced at the silver ring on his right hand and summoned broken pieces of a dark slate.
"Bad news all around. Malen is dead and so are many of my subordinates. They will not be pleased with me." For someone stating things were bad, he seemed remarkably calm.
He sighed before 2 daggers of dark metal flew from his hands and struck the 2 prone women. They never woke as their bodies were reduced to little more than husks. No energies transferred to Nest but his daggers lit up as they drank the life force from the 2 women greedily.
The metal seemed to shine brighter briefly but felt vile to the senses.
"It would be so much easier if I could use Fiend Qi." He spoke as if referring to the weather. He calmly retrieved the daggers and stowed them away. He then burned the husks without damaging the bed.
Aside from the metallic smell in the room, there was no evidence anything had happened, not even blood stains!
He calmly put on his pristine white shirt and then his opulent armor. It looked useless and decorative but that was the point. It was to make him look a fool to the untrained eye until his sword was in the heart of his enemies.
"Best not to linger. If the memories are returning, my life is over. Ah, what I do for love." A gentle smile played on his lips as he quickly left the room. He paid the innkeeper in passing, a bonus too for the pleasant night.
He was just about to summon his horse when his instincts screamed at him to hold still. He had survived a long time trusting his instincts and they were never wrong. He knew back when the Fiends first approached him that he had to agree to live.
He had something they wanted and they could grant his wish. Betraying the Empire was easy. He was just 1 of many princes and princesses. He had no hope of inheritance so he just took what he wanted.
Those instincts that guided him to true power were warning him now.
It was vague but clearly a threat. He crushed a crystal embedded into a silver bracelet on his wrist. His body became hard to perceive to all around him but the feeling did not vanish!
He arched an eyebrow at that but did not panic. The last resort was still there yet he waited. Time stretched until finally, the feeling faded.
"What was that? Someone looking for me? So soon?" Nest felt the need to hurry. He had to slip away while chaos reigned. Memories for his father and others would reveal him for the traitor he was.
He hopped onto his horse and rushed away from the bustling streets of Amber Scale City. He had to make it to the gateway and enact his escape plan!

The air distorted on top of the stables of the inn. A broad shoulder woman with a dark silver cloak stood looking at the retreating man on a horse.
Her eyes were stone cold. Only death was in them but also a burning will to succeed.
"You helped, dear brother, but you are not the reason. You are not a fool save in 1 respect. You acted on someone else's wishes, I can feel it. I don't know my new brother but I know you very well. Lead me, brother, lead me to my ultimate vengeance." Delenn did not have to rush as she summoned a dark tablet with a glowing screen.
It had a marker moving on it with a detailed map of the city. She had marked Nest. He had no idea it was on him but she had made it so he could not escape no matter how far he fled. He had felt her presence somehow but she still pulled it off.
She calmly hopped down and began to walk after him. She had time. All the time in the world.

A crash was heard as a table was tossed like it was light as a feather. A man with rippling muscles and an open vest with a lined white fur vest was crimson in the face as he roared in rage.
His well tailored pants seemed like cloth at first but were finely woven leather! His svelte figure, even with graying temples, made him the figure of many women and men's fantasies.
The table he had tossed was covered in an ornate cloth and dishes but were now scattered and damaged. The broken legs stood out as sharpened spikes as the pieces clattered on the pale stone floor.
"TRAITOR! THAT DAMNED TRAITOR MUST PAY!" The man roared as his silvery eyes sparkled with rage. His pale green hair was tied back neatly with a clasp with a crossed set of swords on it.
The people in the room shared his features but many were on their knees in confusion and shock as memory returned to them.
An older woman with dark blue hair and a well endowed figure trembled as she tried to use a knife to take her own life! She was stopped easily but a younger girl but even that attempt was only half-hearted.
The shock was too much for them all.
"Majesty, control yourself. We need to–" The only person in simple robes tried to bring sanity back but the Emperor slammed him into the far wall with a gust of wind. The servant did not die but his bones cracked easily.
"Control?! You expect me to control myself when I realize my memories have been altered?! My son–MY SON!--betrayed us all! He has killed wantonly and led many of our soldiers to their graves! The civil war was done as entertainment–" Words flowed as Emperor Fionan finally grasped the enormity of what had happened.
The civil war, that cost so many lives in their Empire, had been instigated to entertain Nest! He let his siblings die as well as millions of innocents simply to enjoy his new power!
He even explained it to his own Father before suppressing the memories!
"Petryn! Is Petryn all right?" A woman suddenly screamed but it cooled the Emperor right off! He looked to one of the guardians but they were panicking as they were just as confused as the others.
"He is all right! He is in Crescent City, what is left of it. He is currently assisting Maester Taren Cord from his last report. His fiancé and he were acting as our envoys and were still there at last report!" A young assistant spoke up as he consulted a cube in his hands. His superiors looked like he was a god among men at that moment.
"Dispatch my personal 5th squadron! They are to assume guard duty of Prince Petryn and obey his commands. They will assess the situation at that encampment also!" The Emperor began to give orders and get himself back under control.
Something had snapped them out of the control of the bloodline array but it was all too fresh. The world as he had known it was shifting too quickly.
He had to get accurate updates and begin to plan. First though, was Prince Nest! He had to deal with that quickly and without mercy!

Far to the west of Crescent City was a major trading up of the Rooklin Kingdom. It was a place to go to many other powers and generally neutral to most conflicts. Many powers went there for their auctions and information network but the present day it was chaotic.
Everything people knew for fact had been tossed out the window and mid to peak powers were demanding answers!
The information brokers were dying under the pressure as the bedrock of knowledge they once relied on turned out to be full of holes!
Sources once reliable were now known to be Fiend Agents or just convenient scapegoats to mislead them all that time!
Amidst all that, a small group of individuals came to the western gate. The guards were doing their best to keep the antsy people in line calm but the 10 people were eye-catching.
Their auras made many fall back and their colors were bright. Far too bright for human eyes. The one thing that made all move out of the way were their eyes.
Each and every single one of them had reptilian eyes!
They did not bother to wait in lines and no one dared stop them. The guards thought to maybe ask who they were but they were only Sky Realms.
Whatever Immortals wanted to do, it was not their business to stop them!
"Tck, humans are so pathetic!" A tall and broad shouldered man spoke. His bright blonde hair matched his robes. His eyes were pale gold as he sneered at the chaos around them.
"It is not their fault. All of our memories came back but not enough time has passed to integrate them. If not for our mission, I would be consolidating my foundation instead." A slime woman with dark red robes and auburn hair spoke.
They never stopped moving but they mostly disdained the uncontrolled state of affairs around them.
"We should have flown!" A sprightly young man quipped as his exposed arms flexed his muscles. He had a mischievous glint to his pale brown eyes but was hit on the head by the woman.
"Do not disrespect the True Lord when we meet him. He has done a great thing. The Heavens helped him too so he likely paid a substantial price to free us all." The young man rubbed his head where was hit and nodded.
"Enough, the Gate is ahead of us. We will go directly to Crescent City and greet the True Lord before bringing him back to the ancestors." A razor thin man spoke with black hair and robes. The others bowed as they had to get in line that time.
The dragons were finally going to unite with their True Lord!.
