Entangled With My Rival CEO

Chapter 90

Chapter 90

Except for Clarissa's triplets, the entire Cena family had assembled at the morgue, creating an atmosphere of somberness and tense anticipation.

Harriet's eyes remained fixed upon the motionless figure of the young man lying before them, her gaze reflecting a blend of astonishment and residual resentment.

It was unfathomable to her that the person responsible for inflicting immeasurable suffering upon her family had, at last, departed this world.

As the weight of the moment settled upon her, Harriet couldn't help but feel an undeniable satisfaction washing over her.

The sight of him in this state brought forth a bittersweet sense of closure, offering respite from the unrelenting torment they had endured.

Yet, deep within her, she couldn't shake the feeling that death had granted him a mercy he didn't deserve.

She had yearned for him to confront the consequences of his actions, to truly comprehend the pain and suffering he had inflicted upon their lives.

However, she had no choice but to accept the reality before her.

"It's finally over," she murmured, her voice barely audible, carrying a heavy burden of relief.

Sophia, her eldest daughter, gently enveloped her in a comforting embrace, wordlessly expressing solidarity amidst the solemnity of the morgue.

"Yes... he's gone, Mom," Sophia whispered, her voice tinged with both relief and liberation. "We can finally find peace."

Harriet's grip on her daughter tightened as she nodded, turning her attention to Clark, the seasoned private investigator who had dedicated five long years to their case.

Standing near the leader of the SWAT team that orchestrated the criminal's capture, she offered him a gentle smile.

"Clark, I can't thank you enough for everything you've done for my family."

"Your unwavering dedication and commitment to bringing this man to justice have meant the world to us," she expressed, her voice filled with genuine appreciation.

Clark, his face etched with weariness and his eyes showing signs of exhaustion, returned Harriet's smile with a grateful nod.

"It has been an honor to assist you and your family, Mrs. Cena," he replied, his voice carrying a blend of fatigue and a sense of accomplishment.

"Rest assured, we will thoroughly investigate any potential accomplices of Red Saint."

"Now that he's no longer a threat, we'll make sure there are no loose ends," Clark assured her, his voice brimming with determination.

"Our pursuit for justice will continue until all avenues have been explored." He added.

Harriet nodded, a deep sense of gratitude filling her. "Thank you. I'll eagerly await any further updates you uncover,"

"I have complete trust in you and your team to bring this to a close," She added, her voice resonating with unwavering conviction.

She turned towards her family, a gentle smile gracing her lips.

"I suppose we can leave now," she said, and as the Cena family prepared to exit the morgue, their steps carried a cautious hesitancy, as if walking through a delicate terrain.

Each member bore their own share of visible and invisible wounds, yet they also carried within them a newfound resilience.

While the others took their turns leaving the morgue, Charles found himself unable to resist the urge to pause and gaze at the lifeless body. His face remained devoid of emotion until the sound of his mother's voice broke through his thoughts.

"Charles... come on, let's go," Sophia called out, her voice filled with a mix of concern and understanding.

She reached out and placed a gentle hand on his shoulder, offering a comforting presence.

Reluctantly, Charles tore his gaze away from the lifeless figure, its presence haunting his thoughts. Eventually, he joined the rest of the family as they departed from the somber place.

In the calmness of the night, Clarissa stood on her balcony, her hair swaying gently in the cool evening breeze.

The moonlight bathed her face, casting a soft, illuminating glow that mirrored the relief radiating from her eyes.

As she drew in a deep breath, the sound of approaching footsteps reached her ears, breaking the stillness of the moment.

Clarissa turned around, her gaze meeting Reynold's, his eyes revealing a hint of tenderness.

"Hey," he softly uttered, his voice laced with a blend of apprehension and vulnerability.

"I couldn't help but notice you standing here. Are you alright?"

Clarissa's heart skipped a beat at the unexpected presence of Reynold, her emotions caught between surprise and a glimmer of hope.

"Yeah... and you?... How are things... I mean, with Megan..." Her words trailed off, infused with genuine concern.

Reynold's expression softened, recognizing the unspoken question behind her words.

"I'm fine... I just feel a little foolish for not having known all along that she was working for Red Saint."

"And even now that she's dead, deep down, I find myself wishing she was still alive to face the consequences of her actions," Reynold admitted, his voice heavy with conflicting emotions.

Clarissa nodded understandingly, her eyes filled with empathy.

"I understand, but it's not your fault. You were vulnerable at the time, given the state of our marriage, and she took advantage of that."

"It's natural to feel betrayed and question your judgment, but you couldn't have known her true intentions."

Reynold let out a sigh, his gaze briefly dropping before meeting Clarissa's eyes again.

"I just hope I can find some closure and move forward from this dark chapter."

A small, melancholic smile formed on Clarissa's lips as she looked at him.

"You will. You deserve all the happiness and peace in the world," she reassured him, her voice carrying a hint that she had come to terms with their marriage coming to an end.

Reynold stared at her for a moment, a whirlwind of emotions playing across his face.

Finally, breaking the silence, he cautiously uttered, "Clarissa... I would like to move back in... can I?"

Her brows creased, and she replied simply, "...Why?"

Reynold remained silent for a few seconds, his gaze unwavering on her.

"...I've been thinking about everything... the kids, our family, and you."

"Despite the hurt and pain I still feel, I don't think I can go through with the divorce."

Clarissa's eyes widened in surprise, the weight of Reynold's words sinking in.

Searching his eyes for any hint of insincerity, she found only vulnerability and a flicker of hope.

"You... you want to give our marriage another chance?" Clarissa asked, her voice a mix of disbelief and cautious optimism.

Reynold nodded, his voice brimming with sincerity.

"I know it won't be easy, and we have a lot to work through, but I've had a lot of time to reflect."

"In spite of everything that happened between us, I..." He paused momentarily, gathering his thoughts. "I realized that I still love you, Clarissa."

Those long-awaited words reverberated in the air, causing Clarissa's heart to skip a beat.

Emotions swirled within her as she gazed at Reynold, and for a suspended moment, time seemed to stand still.

"So, what do you say?" Reynold broke the silence, his voice filled with anticipation, awaiting Clarissa's response, unable to bear the weight of the silence any longer.
