Chapter 115
Chapter 115
Camilla stood on the balcony, the city's sparkling night skyline spread out before her like a sea of stars.
Her eyes were brimming with tears, their shimmer mirroring the city lights.
"So he's dead?" Her voice trembled, her words breaking through the stillness of the night with a hint of anger beneath the sadness.
"Yes..." Alexander's voice came from behind her.
He had been discharged from the hospital two nights ago, and although he had dreaded this conversation, he knew it was time to confront the past and reveal the painful truths that had led to their divorce especially since she was finally giving him a chance to explain.
He moved closer to Camilla, his hair tousled by the cold breeze of the night.
After a moment of hesitation, he began, "Camilla, I need you to know that I never wanted things to turn out this way. Red Saint...he was a lunatic, and all I wanted was to keep you safe."
Camilla finally turned to face him, her face etched with pain and anger, tears streaming down her cheeks. "He killed our child...and it took you a whole year to tell me this?"
"A whole year of pain and confusion. How could you Alexander?.... I thought I was to blame...I had to go for several sessions of therapy just to feel like my old self again!"
Alexander swallowed hard, his own eyes glistening with unshed tears. "I thought I was doing the right thing, Camilla."
"I wanted to tell you but then I remember two years ago when Violet announced she was having a baby soon, suddenly she disappeared for about a week..."
"We searched every possible place for her, but she was nowhere to be found. When she was finally released, she was covered in bruises, looked half-dead, and terribly starved."
"The doctors said she had lost the baby, and there was a chance she might never be able to have children again."
"She was devastated for a while, but Violet was always a fighter, especially when it came to her losing her unborn child."
"She started investigating on her own, determined to capture Red Saint and make him pay. She was making real progress..."
"But then she disappeared again, and for weeks, we thought he had finally killed her. We were just hoping to find her body to give her a proper farewell."
"That's when I got a call from my Grandma one night, telling me they found her."
"Camilla, her system was filled with hard drugs. Red Saint had pumped her full of them, and she still struggles with addiction to this day."
Alexander's voice trembled with emotion as he shared these painful memories. Tears welled up in his eyes, and he paused, taking a moment to regain his composure.
Alexander's voice quivered with emotion as he continued, "And don't even ask about Charles."
"What did Red Saint do to Charles?" Camilla asked through her own tears.
Alexander hesitated, unable to find the words to describe the horrors Charles had endured.
Finally, he spoke, his voice filled with anguish. "You don't want to know what he made Charles do. Charles ended up in a psychiatric hospital for months and then had to go through rehab."
He shook his head, wiping away his tears. "I was devastated about losing our child, Camilla.
Maybe even more than you because I blamed myself. I blamed myself for marrying you and getting you into this mess. When I did, I wasn't able to protect you or our unborn child."
He continued, his voice heavy with guilt and sorrow, "So when you started asking questions, digging into what happened on the night of your birthday, I got worried."
"I knew I had to do something to make you stop before you got hurt because my heart couldn't bear it if anything happened to you again."
"I thought if I kept you in the dark and pushed you far away from me, it would keep you safe," Alexander admitted, his voice heavy with remorse.
"But maybe I was wrong. Maybe I could have found a better way. I'm so sorry for all the hurt, trauma, and everything you've gone through because of me."
Camilla listened to his words, her anger dissipating into a profound sadness. Tears streamed down her face as she realized the immense guilt and suffering they both had endured.
She had felt abandoned and betrayed, but now, faced with the truth, she understood the agony he had carried.
"I'm sorry for being so insensitive," she said, her voice trembling. "I thought you abandoned me because you believed it was my fault we lost the baby."
Alexander rushed to her side, holding her gently by the face, tilting her head up to meet his gaze.
"Never," he declared firmly.
"What happened was never your fault. It was my fault. I should have protected you from that monster. I'm so sorry." His voice quivered as he wiped away her tears with his thumbs, and they shared a tender moment.
Camilla's heart ached as she looked into Alexander's eyes, seeing the deep regret and pain within them.
She shook her head, speaking softly, "No, it was Red Saint... and God, I wish he hadn't died so easily... I wish..." She wanted to say more, but Alexander placed a finger on her lips, urging her to stop.
"Don't say it," he insisted. "He's gone now, forever from our lives." He gazed at her intensely for a moment before Camilla wrapped her arms around him, seeking solace in his embrace.
As she gradually calmed down and lifted her head to look at him, Alexander smiled.
He had her back, even if it had taken time and wasn't easy, it brought a glimmer of happiness.
He leaned in, their lips meeting in a soft kiss that grew more passionate as they reconnected, finding solace in each other's embrace.
Their passionate kiss deepened, and their bodies pressed closer together.
Alexander's fingers tangled in Camilla's silky blonde hair as she placed her hand on his shoulder, pulling him even nearer.
The tension seemed to drain from his shoulders as their lips moved together lovingly.
Their hands began to explore each other's bodies in ways that sent shivers down their spines.
As their desire escalated, Alexander's hands ventured beneath Camilla's shirt, caressing her breasts still encased in her bra. He pressed closer to her, the intensity of their connection growing.
But Camilla, aware of Alexander's recent discharge from the hospital and the toll the fire incident had taken on him, couldn't ignore her concern.
She reluctantly broke their kiss, leaving them both breathless. Her voice, husky with desire, conveyed her worry for his health, even as her body longed for his touch.
"Alexander... Maybe we should do this later. You've just been discharged," she said, her words filled with desire and concern.
Alexander gazed at her, his eyes burning with both desire and affection. Then, in a sudden move, he lifted her effortlessly into his arms, her legs wrapping around his hips.
"There's no later...." His breathy voice sounded slightly raspy as he placed soft kisses along her jawline while heading toward her bedroom.
"There's only now...." He added with an amused smirk, fully eager to continue their passionate encounter.
His hand reached back to grasp her thigh, pulling her higher against his torso as he carried her into the apartment.
