Enslaved To The Alphas

Chapter 310: The Curses

Chapter 310: The Curses

As the two forces collided, a loud explosion sounded in the large clearing. The force of it swept outward in every direction at once. The werewolves behind Emira were thrown off their feet, bodies rolling across the ground, some crashing into each other before going still.

Emira hit the ground hard. While Kael, Lance and Zen all were thrown into the werewolves behind them.

Emira rolled on the ground in pain. The explosion had not just thrown her backwards, even the symbols that had been appeared on her skin seemed to now be burning even more, moving over her arms like living things.

She rolled, trying instinctively to escape it. But there was nowhere to go. Emira looked around, trying to understand what was happening. However, she could see nothing around her other than the smoke. She opened her mouth to call out but no sound came.

Then, something happened. The first symbol that had appeared on her arm disappeared as abruptly as it had appeared. She could feel it disappearing as if suddenly the burning had been soothed.

Then, a symbol near her wrist flared suddenly, and she gasped, before that too disappeared. Slowly, she felt herself being released from unknown pressure, as if she the symbols had been part of something binding her and were not releasing her.

The Omega curse. Emira gasped at the whisper sounded in her ear. The werewolves, the black witches and the white witches had long been suppressed by the curses. And they were now being lifted.

She knew it the moment it left her. The heaviness she had always assumed was simply part of being what she was, was now gone. Her breath caught.

Then, just as she would have slumped in relief, the screaming started. She frowned as hundreds of voices erupted across the clearing at once, some in pain and few in relief. She turned her head to look. Even though she could not see anything, she knew it was the curse being lifted from the generations of werewolves.

Her eyes searched for her mates. She found them slowly getting up from the floor, their face masks of agony. She slumped. At least they were alright. If Aron’s attack had...

She stilled. Where was he? Slowly, she tried to get up and looked around, searching for the man who was responsible for everything.

But the smoke was too thick.

Dark mist rolled through the clearing in heavy waves, making it impossible to see more than a few feet ahead. Around her, the screams had still not stopped completely. Some wolves were crying openly now while others stared at their own hands in shock.

The smoke around the center of the clearing suddenly shifted. Emira’s breath caught.

At first, she could only see shadows moving within it. Thick dark energy twisting through the mist. Then the mist seemed to clear and a figure stepped forward. His eyes were red with hatred. But that was not what caught her attention. It was something else. He looked like Aron. And yet, nothing like him.

The leg she had destroyed was back. But it no longer looked human.

Dark smoke had formed the missing limb itself, hardening into something solid before cracking apart and reshaping repeatedly as he took each step. Veins of silver and golden light moved beneath his skin violently, as though the Goddess energy inside him was fighting against the darkness consuming him.

Then, his entire body trembled and he let out a loud laugh. It was eerie almost even more so amongst the loud cries that were still echoing from the werewolves.

"You ruined it..." he whispered. Dark energy exploded outward from him again. This time like a burst instead of the spheres that he was doing it.

Emira’s hand on the golden whip tightened. But before she could make a move, his head snapped upward suddenly.

Emira froze as his eyes were no longer fully black and a silver light flickered inside them.

For one terrifying moment, it looked as though two different powers were tearing him apart from within. Blood slowly slid down the side of his face as he stared directly at her. Hatred twisted across his expression, but beneath it there was something far worse now.

Desperation. He channeled everything he had into hurting her.

Aron took another step toward her.

His body no longer seemed stable. Darkness cracked across his skin constantly while silver and gold light flashed beneath it like trapped lightning. Every few seconds, his form seemed to distort unnaturally before forcing itself back together again.

"You took everything from me!" he roared.

The shadows behind him suddenly rose upward.

Emira’s eyes widened.

At first, she thought it was smoke. But then the darkness began taking shape. Large wings slowly spread outward behind him, stretching across the clearing. The creature looked almost soul-like, neither fully solid nor fully smoke, with hollow red eyes glowing from within the darkness itself.

Several wolves screamed in terror.

The creature let out a loud shriek before flying toward her.

Emira tightened her grip on the whip immediately.

The golden energy around it flared violently while silver light twisted through it. The moment the creature reached her, she swung the whip forward with all her strength.

The crack echoed across the clearing.

Golden light sliced straight through the creature’s chest. For one second, the entire thing froze midair. Then silver flames suddenly spread across it rapidly. The creature shrieked again. Its body twisted violently before beginning to burn apart piece by piece. Ash scattered through the air as the darkness dissolved completely.

Emira stumbled forward as she bowed down, her head touching the ground in front of her. Finally. It was all over. The clearing had now gone quiet.

She stayed where she was for a moment longer, forehead against the ground, chest heaving. Then she felt them. Three pairs of hands, familiar and steady, reaching her at the same time. No words. Just their presence settling around her in a wave of comfort as she let go to the final threads of consciousness.
