Dumped A Scumbag At The Altar For A One Night Stand With A Billionaire

Chapter 250: My Wife

Chapter 250: My Wife

"From what you just said, I don’t think you have to do too much to win her heart, because she’s already in love with you."

Surprise and disbelief surfaced in Christopher’s dark eyes.

Natalia... was in love with him?

"What are you talking about?" Christopher asked, thinking Kaleb probably didn’t know what he was talking about.

"Well, you just said she hated you for something you did before, right? Do you know that love and hate both go hand in hand? There can never be hate without love. For her to despise you for hurting her, she must have loved you and had been disappointed, which is why she probably hates you now. But then again, a hate born from love can never truly be hate. She doesn’t hate you, she just loved you enough that it hurt."

Christopher looked deeply thoughtful about what Kaleb had just said.

Could she really... be in love with him?

He recalled the flash of the pained look he’d caught in her eyes the night before when he’d been about to leave Tristan and Celine’s home, and the disappointed look in her eyes when she’d woken up that morning after having too much to drink and recalled their past.

Something suddenly flashed in his dark eyes, and Christopher immediately sprang up from his seat. He hurried out of the mansion.

"Boss, where are you going?" Ivan exclaimed, but Christopher had already rushed off.

Kaleb sighed, "Tsk, I haven’t even gotten to the best part yet, and he already ran off. At this rate, I’m sure everyone’s going to get married before me." He sighed, supporting his chin with his hand before an idea seemed to suddenly strike him. His eyes lit up and he looked over at Tristan.

"President...ahem, I’m planning to propose soon, I might need some tips from..."

"I have a meeting with Mr. Lincoln later today but I can’t make it, have a date with my wife. Attend the meeting on my behalf and I’ll give you a few days off to prepare for your proposal."

Kaleb wanted to complain about the additional work, but those days off were very enticing. "Yes, boss."

He got up to leave and then stopped again, "Do I still get those tips..."

Tristan gave him a blank stare, "I don’t give love advice because I don’t know other women, I only know my wife."

Kaleb wanted to pull his hair out. He would hang himself to death if he heard another "my wife" from this man. He said those words every excuse he gets, every single day...

"My wife likes dark chocolate, get her a bar of the most expensive ones..."

"I want a bouquet of fresh roses for my wife, she’s working right now, send it to the set..."

"My wife is very clingy, she likes to cuddle all night. If I don’t go home early she won’t sleep, you handle the rest of the work..."

"My wife..."

"My wife..."

"My wife..."

Argh! It was driving Kaleb absolutely mad! This was what filled every single day of his life lately, he couldn’t get a moment’s rest.

’Boss, you aren’t the only married man in the world you know? Damn, he was making him feel single.’

Tristan glanced over to the place where Christopher had just disappeared, his lips holding a small smile.

’Go get her, cousin!’

---

Christopher drove off in his car, arriving at the street of her apartment. He parked right in front of her house. Standing on the porch, he knocked desperately on the door.

"Natalia! Natalia, open the door, I have a lot of things to say to you!" Christopher called as he knocked on the door.

However, even after some time of knocking, no reply came from the other side. He continued to knock until he felt a sharp pain in his knuckles, but he wasn’t about to give up on her yet.

Christopher sighed and headed over to the potted plants at the side of her porch. Raising one of the pots there, he found a bunch of keys.

He’d known her habit of hiding her keys under the potted plants ever since the night of their date, when she’d picked her keys from there. That was how he’d been able to open her apartment on the night she’d been drunk and had brought her home.

Christopher opened the door and headed in.

"Natalia! Natalia!" He called, looking all around the silent and empty apartment. He checked her kitchen and then went up the stairs; she still wasn’t in her bedroom.

Rushing down the stairs, Christopher looked around, frustrated. "Where are you, Natalia?" He muttered to himself before rushing out of her apartment.

He pulled out his phone from his pocket, trying to call her, but he got an automatic message that her number was unavailable. Frustrated, he tried dialing it once more, but he got the same response. He continued to get the same message even after trying to call her a number of times. Since her number wasn’t going through, Christopher put his phone back in his pocket and decided to go look for her.

He locked her apartment, then got in his car and drove off.

He arrived at the tall building of the company she worked at, heading inside without hesitation.

Getting to the front desk, Christopher asked, "Hello, may I ask if Miss Natalia Gilbert came to work today?"

The receptionist made a call to ask Natalia’s assistant and replied to Christopher afterwards, "I’m sorry, sir, but her assistant said she didn’t show up at the office this morning. She’d been trying to call her multiple times, but she isn’t picking up."

Christopher nodded and rushed out of the building, a desperate feeling filling his heart.

He fished out his phone, trying to call her once again, but he got the same response; her number still wasn’t going through.

He once again got into his car and drove off speedily.

Where could she possibly be? Christopher wondered as he drove.

An idea came into his mind, and he quickly picked up his phone, dialing a number.

The phone was picked up after a few rings.

"Hello."

"Hey, Celine, is Natalia with you by any chance? She’s not in her apartment and she’s not at work either."

Celine sounded surprised. "No, she isn’t here. Are you sure she isn’t at work? She loves her work too much to just refuse to go for any reason."

"I know, that’s why I’m getting worried. They said she didn’t show up at work. I’ve been trying to look for her, but I have no idea where she could possibly be."

Celine started to feel incredibly worried. She thought for a while, wondering where Natalia would be at the moment before an idea flashed into her mind. "Hey, I think I know where she’ll be right now."

Recalling how Natalia had been upset the day before, Celine instantly had a hunch about where she’d be at the moment.

Christopher listened intently as Celine gave a description of a certain location to him where he could possibly find Natalia.

"Alright." Christopher agreed, taking a turn at an upcoming U-turn on the road to head to where Celine had described.

His car drove up a hill side road to a certain part of the city that looked deserted.

Parking his car at the side, Christopher got down, heading into the cemetery Celine had described at the far end of the city.

Walking into the graveyard, Christopher counted the gravestones up to the number Celine had told him was Natalia’s father’s.

Celine had thought that Natalia would certainly come here since she had recalled her family and had been quite upset the day before.

Coming up to the certain gravestone, Christopher stopped, reading the name engraved on it.

’Anthony Gilbert.’

"What are you doing here?" He suddenly heard a familiar voice ask from behind him.

He quickly spun around to find Natalia holding a bunch of weeds, standing behind him. Relief washed into his heart seeing her standing there, unharmed.
