Chapter 251: I Really Want To Kiss You
Chapter 251: I Really Want To Kiss You
Seeing how Christopher stood stunned watching her, Natalia walked past him and threw the bunch of weeds she’d plucked off her father’s grave with her hands aside. Coming to stand by the edge of the grave, Natalia squatted down to the floor, she reached forward lightly touching the stone carvings on the tombstone.
"Dad..." she muttered softly, tears spilling from her eyes, "I’m sorry I don’t get to come see you often, I’m sorry."
Natalia usually did all she could to drown herself in work lately, enough that she wouldn’t feel lonely, nor the absence of people important to her life.
Though she always showed a carefree side of her, in actuality it was just to cover up the pain and loneliness she felt inside, though it was filled by people like Celine who never failed to remind her she could be genuinely happy, internally she still hid that loneliness from the world.
She could feel her tears warm and flowing down her face, Natalia could say that her father was the only person in the world who truly cared about her in the past, and as for her mother, the woman cared less whatever happened to her, what other explanation could there be for her walking right out of her own daughter’s life without any explanation nor coming back to check on her.
As she continued to touch the cold stone of the grave, Natalia felt a shadow loom over her, he squatted beside her and wordlessly raised her knee placing a folded handkerchief under them on the floor so her knee wouldn’t be directly touching the floor but was on top of the handkerchief.
Not looking at her he fixed his gaze on the tombstone, "Hello there, Mr Gilbert." Christopher suddenly greeted, his voice deep and aloof yet warm, making Natalia look at him quizzically, but he didn’t turn his gaze towards her.
"I just wanted to let you know that your daughter has turned out to be the best version of herself she could ever be, she is strong, resilient, kind and extremely loyal to everyone around her, I’m sure you’re absolutely proud of her, but then she misses you, which is why she’s crying at the moment, and I’m sure her tears are something you wouldn’t want to see, I understand that, because her tears are hurting me too."
Natalia once again looked at him incredulously, surprise in her honey gold eyes still glistening with tears.
Christopher continued, "Her tears feel like a painful dagger tearing my heart, and so does her silent pain, and more than anything, I’d like to be the one who takes all her pain away, the one who takes away all her fears, if she’ll let me."
Christopher looked at her, holding her gaze, "I’d like to be the light that brightens up her life, just like she is mine, I’d like to be her shield, to hold her heart safely in my care, to offer her all the happiness in the world, just like she’s silently done for me. She is the reason I wake up with a smile every morning, the reason I anticipate seeing the next day just so I can see her face, for eight years nothing else has kept me going but the thought that I’d see her again, and when I found her I felt complete, she is everything to me, and the best thing that ever happened to me."
Natalia couldn’t describe the feeling in her heart as she heard his words, all she could say was that it felt warm, extremely warm and fluttery, but she was certain of one thing, it was the best feeling she’d ever had.
She stared into his dark eyes, but she was unable to look away, like a binding spell that held her still she was caught in them.
"Natalia I’d once asked you for nothing else but a single date, but now this is the one and only thing I’ll ever ask of you... Please let me love you Natalia."
She could feel her thundering heartbeat in her chest along with a sweet fluttering feeling in her chest.
"Let me embrace all the pain away, let me give you all the love I have to offer, let me do nothing but stay by your side to offer you joy, comfort, security, and all the happiness in the world, give me a chance to prove how much you mean to me."
His eyes were glistening, and she could hear the uncrippling sincerity in his voice.
They continued to stare at each other until Natalia suddenly broke her gaze away from him. She looked at her father’s tombstone for some time before she stood up on her feet, turning around she began to walk away.
Christopher’s eyes fell downcast, he could hear the shuffling sound of her footsteps moving farther away, and he couldn’t bear to turn around and watch her walking away from him, because just the fact that she was leaving clutched painfully at his heart.
However, all of a sudden the footsteps stopped, Christopher raised his head but he didn’t turn around thinking with dread that it might just be his wishful thinking and she hadn’t actually stopped, perhaps the pain of her actually walking away from him had made him imagine her actually stopping, but her voice soon travelled into his ears.
"Aren’t you coming? Why are you still kneeling there?" Her voice sounded with a teary tone, but Christopher finally stood up, turning around to face her, there were tear stains on her face, but she no longer looked hurt. "After hearing all that, I really want to kiss you, but I’ll definitely not do that in front of my father."
Pain had come so swiftly, but relief had also washed it all away as quickly, they both smiled and a sense of urgency surged within him.
Christopher crossed over to her with long strides, "I don’t think he’ll mind."
"Huh?" Stunned and caught off guard, Christopher pulled her against him, catching her lips passionately.
She felt the world swirl before her eyes, caught in the most toe-curling kiss she’d ever experienced.
It was true what they said, there was a certain person whose kiss would always feel like the first time, and when one finds that person, it undoubtedly is true love, and with Christopher, he always made her feel like it was the first time.
After some time they pulled away from the kiss, breaths heavy and foreheads resting against each other.
With a smile, Natalia caressed his face, she let the words she’d kept in her heart out unrestrained, "I love you Christopher Grayson, I love you!"
It was as if a boundless shower of joy had washed over him from above, he smiled widely.
"Ah!" Natalia shrieked as Christopher suddenly picked her up, spinning her around.
"I love you too Natalia Gilbert!!!" he yelled loudly, his voice echoing all around the mountains as if he wanted the whole world to bear witness to these words.
Natalia laughed, this time she could feel joy pure and true from the depths of her heart, and with him, it would never end.
