Chapter 72: The Revelation
Chapter 72: The Revelation
"W-what?" Lilian stuttered.
Although Orion’s appearance now resembled a dragon, to actually believe that he was one was too much for her. Dragons weren’t even supposed to exist on this continent.
"How...? And... and..." She tried to speak but lost her words once again.
"I know it’s hard to believe. But it’s the truth." Orion was still in his dragon transformation.
Lilian covered her face with both hands and let out a long sigh. "It’s just way too much to take in." She sat down, clearly exhausted.
"I know. Let’s head back for today. After some rest, we’ll talk properly." Orion said as he helped Lilian to her feet.
"How do we get back anyway?" Orion asked.
Lilian calmed herself momentarily. "To return, we need to use the stairs."
She looked at Orion’s expression and understood what he was thinking.
"The stairs only appear when a room is cleared. For example, if we clear the sixth floor, a stairway connecting the sixth and fifth floors will appear."
Orion finally understood and nodded.
"By the way, should we check out the portal before leaving?" Orion asked.
"Leave it. We’re not going to the sixth floor anyway." Lilian didn’t want to waste time; she wanted answers as soon as possible.
Orion deactivated his dragon transformation.
Lilian glanced at him from the side. "Tell me... is every mystery surrounding you connected to you being a dragon?"
Orion sighed. "I’m afraid not."
Lilian nodded. She knew the explanation wouldn’t be that simple.
When they returned to the fortress, Evelyn and Rachel were surprised by how quickly they were back.
"You guys came so soon?" Evelyn approached them. "How many floors did you clear? And where are Josephine and Revo?"
"I don’t know about Revo and Josephine since we formed two teams and headed our own way. But we cleared up to the fifth floor," Orion replied.
"What... already?" Evelyn was clearly impressed. What astonished her even more was that they managed such a feat with only the two of them.
’I need to keep an even closer eye on him,’ she thought, glancing at Orion. She had a feeling it was largely because of him that they managed it so quickly.
"Yes. Anyway, we’re exhausted. Is there something to eat and a place to rest?" Orion said as he sat down on the nearby couch.
Evelyn waved her hand, and three maids stepped forward. "Please take them to their rooms and prepare some food."
Orion and Lilian followed the maids.
"Could we get two rooms close to each other?" Orion requested.
"Of course," one of the maids said, suppressing a giggle. "And where should we bring your food, sir?"
"Bring it to her room." Orion pointed toward Lilian.
After escorting them, the maids left.
Orion quickly showered, changed, and headed to Lilian’s room. As soon as he reached her door, it opened before he could knock.
She had been waiting, unable to sit still, her thoughts racing with everything he had revealed.
"Come in," she said, sitting on the sofa and pointing to the seat beside her.
Orion sat down.
"So... let’s hear it. And don’t leave anything out," Lilian said, her curiosity overwhelming her shock.
Orion let out a deep breath and began explaining everything—his reincarnation, his system, his classes. He left out only Ember and the mission to rescue the demon queen, wanting her to process this much first.
After hearing it all, Lilian was stunned into silence. Her mouth hung open for several minutes.
"So... you’re really from another world," she finally whispered, her throat dry as she drank the water on the table.
"Yes," Orion replied softly.
"What was your world like?" she asked, unable to contain her curiosity.
Orion told her about Earth. With every word, Lilian grew more fascinated.
A world without magic, yet people created weapons capable of destroying the planet itself. Technology so advanced that people barely needed to step outside. It was unimaginable to her.
After some time, she steadied herself.
"So your system... it’s different from the power codex we have. Can you show me what it can do?"
Orion quickly made the system visible to Lilian and showed her his inventory, the shop, and everything else.
"Wow... my head hurts trying to process all this. Who could even create something like that and send you here? Even the goddess couldn’t."
After a few minutes of silence, Orion prepared to reveal the rest.
"There’s more you need to know, Lilian." He looked at her intently.
"There’s more?" she groaned. "Of course there is."
He told her about Ember, the red dragon, and how he had consumed her soul.
Lilian’s eyes widened. "There’s no way... right? First of all, you actually met the Red Dragon... and you even know her name?"
Lilian clutched her head. "Oh God... stop. Are you trying to kill me with all this information?" she cried. "The Red Dragon... and you have her soul inside you?" she screamed out the last part
After a moment, she forced herself to breathe slowly.
"Is there anything else? Or is that finally all?" she asked sarcastically.
"Actually... there’s more," Orion muttered.
She looked at him with teary eyes. "What now?"
"You know how the demon queen’s seal is about to break?" He paused. "I think I’m that person who will break it."
"What? No!" she shouted. "You’re joking, right? Right?"
Orion shook his head.
"Oh God... the headmistress was right. You are that person... what am I supposed to do now?" She finally broke down.
Orion pulled her into his arms.
"I know what you’re thinking—that I’m in cahoots with the demons. But there’s something you need to know." He explained how Scarlet, the demon queen, was Ember’s adoptive daughter and how she had been branded as a demon.
Lilian was shocked, but it helped her regain some composure.
"Are you telling the truth? Do you even realize what you’re saying? The demon queen—THE actual demon queen—is the daughter of the Red Dragon? How does that even make sense?" she began shouting, not caring if anyone overheard her.
"I can take you to Ember right now with my teleportation skill," Orion spoke, preparing to open the teleportation portal.
She stopped him. "Don’t. I love you, and I believe you. But the demon queen being the red dragon’s daughter..."
Orion’s expression turned serious. "Now that you know my goal... do you want to leave me?"
Before he could say more, Lilian slapped him hard.
Orion stared at her, stunned.
"Don’t ever say something so stupid," she said fiercely. "No matter what you are or what you become, you can’t get rid of me. Not ever."
Her aura flared possessively, making Orion instinctively step back.
But Lilian stepped forward, grabbed his collar, and pulled him into a deep kiss.
