Dragon System: Red Dragon Legacy

Chapter 71: I AM A DRAGON

Chapter 71: I AM A DRAGON

Orion and Lilian reached the second floor and found themselves inside another massive chamber, though this time there were no monsters waiting for them.

They waited for Josephine and Revo for a while, and after a couple of minutes passed without any sign of them, they decided to move forward.

"What kind of monster do you think we’ll face on this floor?" Orion asked Lilian as they walked.

"I think we should expect something similar to the first floor. I read about this dungeon, and according to the book, strong monsters don’t appear until the fifth floor. And the monsters receive a major upgrade every five floors."

And she was right. When they reached the portal room, it was once again filled with goblins. The only difference was that there were far more of them than on the first floor.

"My turn," Orion said with a sadistic smile as he lunged toward the goblins.

This time, Lilian watched from the sidelines, and she couldn’t help but marvel at Orion’s skill.

As soon as he reached the goblins, a strange aura burst out of him. Although it wasn’t affecting her, she could clearly see the fear in the goblins’ eyes. What impressed her even more was how efficiently he used multiple weapons at once, switching between them seamlessly in the middle of combat. He had definitely improved his technique after his fight with Aguri, and that had been only a short time ago.

’He really is a freak.’

And just like that, Orion finished off all the goblins on the floor and made his way to the portal room.

When they reached the third floor, the monsters weren’t any stronger. There were no goblins anymore; instead, there were orcs, though the weaker type, and their numbers weren’t that high.

Now that they decided to fight together, it was even easier to clear this floor than the previous one.

"Oh well, that was really unsatisfactory," Orion muttered.

"Be careful what you wish for, Orion," Lilian warned. "We haven’t reached the fifth floor yet, and who knows what kind of monsters we’ll have to face there."

Orion nodded, and they went through the portal again, reaching the fourth floor. This time, the challenge was slightly higher, with a large quantity of goblins mixed together with orcs.

Lilian summoned her blue fire while Orion activated his dragon aura to keep the monsters in place, and together they cleared the floor with little effort.

"Alright... let’s fucking go," Orion said as they entered the portal room and stepped through.

As soon as they reached the fifth floor, they immediately noticed the difference.

A large number of goblins had already gathered in the room, and these weren’t the weaker goblins from the previous floors. This time, there were goblin brutes and shamans surrounding them.

"GRREKKK—!"

They shouted and immediately lunged forward.

Lilian slashed at them, her blade coated in blue aura as it burst forward and tore through the front line, the heads of the goblins in the first row splitting in half under the force of her attack. Orion didn’t wait either; he laughed as he charged straight through the opening she created and landed in the middle of the remaining swarm.

The shamans began throwing fireballs, water spheres, and every kind of spell they had at him. Orion dodged swiftly and activated his Dragon Charm again, releasing a wave of heat that forced the goblins near him to step back from the intensity.

Without hesitation, he swung his sword and cut three goblins’ heads off in a single slash.

While Orion fought in the center of the swarm, Lilian handled the front, forcing the goblins to split their attention. She kept summoning her blue fire and hurling it into the crowd.

One stray blast hit Orion and sent him flying along with several goblins that were close to him.

"Hey, watch out!" Orion shouted.

"Sorry!" Lilian replied, shifting her focus back to the goblins again.

Four goblins surrounded her from all sides. She drew her sword and spun it like a helicopter blade, and within seconds, all four goblins lost their heads as blood sprayed across her face and clothes.

Meanwhile, Orion was struggling slightly as he faced most of the shamans, forced to dodge their relentless spells. He leapt to avoid a fireball and landed in front of a goblin shaman, piercing his sword through its heart before immediately turning around to slash the two goblins approaching from behind.

Then—

"Aghhhh!"

A poison spell from one of the shamans struck him.

"Orion... are you okay?" Lilian asked after finishing off two more goblins and rushing closer to him.

"Don’t worry. Just keep the goblins away from me for a bit, and I’ll recover. I have the poison resistance skill."

Lilian sighed. "Of course you do," she said as she summoned lightning in her palm and electrocuted the approaching goblins.

After a couple of seconds, Orion started to feel better.

"Alright, let’s go. Only twenty of them left," he said as he charged forward again.

Lilian looked at him in shock.

’How the hell did he recover that quickly? Poison resistance or not...’

But she didn’t dwell on it and joined him in the attack.

After a few more minutes, they were finally done.

"Ahhh..." Orion sat down in exhaustion, and Lilian did the same.

"You think we’ll have to face monsters in the summoning room, too?" Orion asked.

"I think so... can you keep going?"

"I’ll manage. What about you? The amount of time you’ve used your blue magic must have drained you."

"Yes... But I’ll be able to go one more round."

Orion’s eyes widened.

’Just how much mana does she have?’

After resting briefly, they stood up and searched for the portal room, eventually finding it.

"Alright, are you ready?" Lilian asked as she opened the door.

The moment they looked inside, they saw at least thirty D-ranked orcs, each nearly ten feet tall, walking around the room and wielding either rusty swords or spiked clubs.

"Alright, let’s do it," Orion said as he immediately charged forward.

Lilian followed behind him.

The orcs noticed them and roared as they charged.

One of the orcs swung its club at Orion, but he ducked under it and pierced his sword into its stomach.

"Hrrrkk—" the orc spat blood before collapsing.

Almost immediately, another one charged at him. Without pulling his sword out of the first orc, Orion summoned his spear and spun around, driving it into the second orc’s skull.

Lilian, meanwhile, kept summoning blue fire in her palms and throwing it toward the orcs without pause.

"What are you doing? You’ll run out of mana!" Orion shouted as he blocked another attack and leapt upward, cutting an orc’s head clean off.

"I don’t care! We have to finish this as soon as possible. I can feel my stamina running out," she replied as she blasted two orcs in front of her.

Orion knew she was right. His own stamina was running low.

Without thinking further, he muttered, "Dragon Transformation."

His body became covered in shimmering scales, and he didn’t care if Lilian saw it anymore — he had planned to tell her soon anyway.

Lilian’s eyes widened.

The orcs froze for a moment.

"What the fuck..." she muttered.

Orion charged at the monsters as his claws extended from his hands.

One of the orcs swung its club at him, but Orion deflected it with his scaled arm and pierced his claw into its gut.

"Lilian, step back to the door," he shouted.

"Why—"

"Just do as I say."

Lilian obeyed.

Orion teleported to the other side of the room as the remaining fifteen orcs rushed toward him all at once.

"Star Fire," he shouted as red flames ignited around his arms.

He hurled the blazing energy toward the orcs.

Boom.

The room exploded in red light, and when the smoke cleared, not a single orc remained.

Lilian stared at Orion in disbelief as he walked toward her.

"W-who even are you?" she muttered, clearly shaken.

"Listen, Lilian," he said seriously.

"I AM A DRAGON"
