Ah Jiu saw her burping occasionally and said, "No matter how good the food is, one should only eat until 70% full. But you seem like you’re trying to get your money’s worth."

Wufu giggled sheepishly: "Isn’t it to avoid waste?" She wouldn’t admit to being a glutton.

Ah Jiu shook his head in exasperation.

Leaving the monastery, following the wooden signs painted for guidance, they walked up the secluded path. The scenery along the way was also beautiful, wildflowers in full bloom, looking into the distance, the leaves on the distant cliffs were yellow, red, and interspersed with some green, occasionally revealing steep rocks, creating the best scenery of late autumn.

They passed two or three small pavilions for resting, and there were some scholars painting or composing poetry against the scenery.

"The scenery here is picturesque. Ah Jiu, why don’t you compose a couple of verses?" Wufu said with a smile.

Ah Jiu teased, "How could I compare to Master Songguan’s little disciple whose poem ’All Red’ is going to spread throughout Nanyue? I’d rather not make a fool of myself!"

Wufu staggered, almost falling to the ground, and said: "You know my skills, don’t you? I’m fine with fighting, but poetry is not my forte. That was a masterpiece by a famous general!"

Ah Jiu gave her a sideways glance.

"It’s obvious, isn’t it? With my age, how could I have been on the battlefield? Having never been there, how could I compose such a majestic poem?"

Ah Jiu said, "I haven’t heard of this poem."

Wufu chuckled.

Ah Jiu saw she didn’t continue and didn’t ask. One day, she would reveal all her secrets.

Turning the secluded path, they saw a red view, like blood, mixed with some golden yellow.

The Maple Forest was here!

The Maple Forest at Xiangguo Temple spans ten miles. At the highest point of the forest’s end, there’s a Maple Viewing Pavilion. It is said that from there, one can see a vast area of maple forest and the majestic temple. The famous painting Immortal Liu Yanzhi’s famous work ’Maple Woods and Temple’ was inspired here.

"We aren’t in a hurry, shall we slowly walk up to the Maple Viewing Pavilion?"

Wufu nodded, the sight of the red made her frown: "But these maple leaves are too red, I don’t quite like it."

"Why so?"

"Don’t you find this red like blood? This color is not auspicious." She pointed to the temple below: "And with this temple here, it’s quite contradictory! Blood is a taboo for temples."

Ah Jiu chuckled: "You don’t even worship Bodhisattva, yet you believe in this auspiciousness talk? Coming to Xiangguo Temple, you haven’t worshipped a single Bodhisattva or Buddha statue."

"That’s why sometimes people are conflicted advanced animals!" Wufu didn’t blush at all.

Ah Jiu was once again amazed by her thick skin and said, "Your thick skin leaves me in complete admiration!"

Wufu blinked her eyes, claiming innocence: I haven’t, I’m very innocent!

Turning a small path, they met face to face with an incoming person. Seeing clearly the person arriving, Wufu’s gaze froze, and she looked up at the sky.

She hadn’t checked the almanac before leaving today!
