Chapter 133: The Seal of the Heresy Inquisition
Chapter 133: The Seal of the Heresy Inquisition
Xiaobi had already become a demon. In that instant, her human body had actually disintegrated, and the process of demonization had transformed her into something far more abstract.
Therefore, at the exact moment she pierced Morkania's body, Xiaobi's true form had already hidden itself deep within him.
As for that body resembling a little girl, it was nothing more than another flesh model she had fabricated.
Despite her young age, Xiaobi was far from lacking in cunning.
"You can't kill me!" Xiaobi shrieked. "I've already replaced multiple organs in Big Brother Morkania's body. Without my ability controlling them, those organs will go on a rampage, and he will absolutely die!"
Isabella paused. She extended a sliver of her mental power to investigate and discovered that the situation was exactly as Xiaobi claimed.
Xiaobi's demonic ability was that of a Limb Demon.
More accurately, she was a Flesh Demon, born from the lust and greed people harbored for her flesh.
Her demonic power allowed her to manufacture massive quantities of flesh models. While the majority of these models were crude, some could be crafted with unparalleled precision.
Examples included the little girl's body she used as a disguise, as well as the organs currently residing inside Morkania's body.Over this period of time, those organs had completely intertwined with Morkania's vitality.
As a result, Isabella's evil-dispelling arts could force Xiaobi's hidden body out, but they could not banish these "organs".
Seeing Isabella halt her advance, Xiaobi breathed a slight sigh of relief. However, that relief vanished when she watched the priestess silently draw a dagger, seemingly prepared to hollow out Morkania's body at any moment and then attempt to save him using healing divine arts.
Xiaobi's heart leaped into her throat once more.
"You can't do this! How dare you even think of doing this?!" Xiaobi had never encountered someone like Isabella before.
The woman's mind seemed entirely immune to hesitation caused by external pressures. Beneath that unwavering conviction lay an unparalleled level of execution.
Even now, if Isabella's own arm were to become infected and required immediate amputation, she would strike without a second of hesitation the moment she confirmed the necessity of the act.
This resolute, decisive will, radiating a powerful aura of justice, was a force strong enough to burn Xiaobi!
"Speak. Tell me what I want to know," Isabella commanded. In truth, she was not entirely certain she could save a man after hollowing out his internal organs on such a massive scale, especially with the high likelihood of Xiaobi interfering.
However, sitting idly by and allowing herself to be threatened by an aberrated demon was absolutely against her nature.
She had to remain overwhelmingly dominant throughout this ordeal to seize the initiative.
By doing so, she might be able to extract sufficient intelligence from Xiaobi while safely rescuing Morkania.
"I can't say. The Construct Protocol restricts my abilities regarding that," Xiaobi said, shaking her head. "I can only tell you in a preaching manner that what I am equipped with is the Rampage Augment II."
"You need to sign a preliminary Construct Protocol before I can lead you to the branch they established."
Isabella followed up with several more questions, but Xiaobi was unable to divulge anything else.
When it came to information security, the Construct Protocol was flawlessly thorough.
Given the results of her interrogation, Isabella instinctively concluded that Xiaobi's demonized power stemmed directly from the Construct Protocol.
As the questioning concluded, Isabella felt a slight headache coming on. She needed to figure out how to deal with Xiaobi and Morkania.
"It seems my advice has caused you a bit of trouble." Right at that moment, Nemus's voice rang out. A hint of joy colored Isabella's face; backup had finally arrived.
"This is the current situation. Do you have any solutions?" Isabella provided a brief summary of the events and asked for Nemus's input. As a newcomer, she genuinely had no good ideas.
"Perhaps you could seek help from the Judgment Squad," Nemus suggested after a moment of thoughtful silence.
"In the past, the Judgment Squad possessed a very special type of individual."
Nemus paused his explanation there, and realization dawned on Isabella.
The Judiciary Department was a specialized division within the Church. Their primary enemies were not outsiders, but rather corrupted personnel within the Church itself, as well as anyone who opposed the Church.
Historically, a branch known as the "Heresy Inquisition" had emerged within the Judiciary Department. The members of this branch would appropriate the powers of heretics for their own use while passing judgment upon them.
The Village Guardian system—specifically the version that accommodated demonic bloodlines—originated from the Heresy Inquisition.
Aside from demonic bloodlines, the Heresy Inquisition had also developed the Sealing Arcana, a technique to seal an entire demon within a person's body, forcing the creature to provide its host with power.
Of course, the Judgment Hall had long since abandoned such systems.
"There is a high probability that the relevant knowledge is still preserved within the Judgment Hall," Nemus said with a smile. "The Judgment Hall has a private Archive Room, guarded by an old fossil."
"Even I have no way of entering it."
"Therefore, you are the only one who can figure out a way to handle this," Nemus declared.
Ever since his research on the Soul Component failed half a year ago, Nemus had been desperate to acquire the Sealing Arcana. After an exhaustive search, he found that the Judgment Hall was the only place currently holding the relevant information.
Unfortunately, even though Nemus had earned the goodwill of many Judgment Squad members, he still could not gain access to that Archive Room to retrieve the documents on the Sealing Arcana.
After all, the Judgment Hall was highly autonomous. More often than not, it was impossible for outsiders to intervene.
"I... will give it a try," Isabella replied. She picked up Morkania, took a deep breath, and carried him toward the Cathedral.
Nemus followed close behind. Other patrolling Holy Knights swiftly arrived to handle the aftermath of the scene.
Some matters depended heavily on compatibility and timing.
Nemus had excellent compatibility with Purr, Krew, and even the White Fox. Their shared traits allowed Nemus to bring them under his wing in a very short amount of time.
However, he had zero compatibility with that stubborn old mule from the Judgment Squad.
Although the old man couldn't see anything inherently wrong with Nemus, he clung obsessively to the rules and absolutely refused to let him near the Sealing Arcana.
Isabella, however, was different. Someone like her—steadfast in justice and possessing a radiant heart, yet far from being rigidly dogmatic—was a natural counter to such pedantic old monsters.
Through Isabella, he might finally catch a glimpse of the Sealing Arcana's mysteries and further perfect his Soul Component.
As things stood, Nemus had already developed the Type I Soul Component. It was currently undergoing preliminary installation within his own soul, assisting him in the purification of Faith Power.
But the efficiency was still somewhat lacking.
Therefore, he needed to roll out the Type II Soul Component as soon as possible.
'After all, the accumulated Faith Power has piled up quite a bit. Once it is all completely purified, I might actually be able to achieve a true completion of my Divinity,' Nemus thought to himself.
