Chapter 132: The Hide-and-Seek Game is Over
Chapter 132: The Hide-and-Seek Game is Over
"Everyone in this world has their own misfortunes. My mission isn't to save everyone from their misery, but to do my best while lending a helping hand to the tragedies I can actually see and have the power to stop!" Isabella declared with absolute clarity, her gaze completely unwavering.
One should only bear burdens matched to their capabilities.
If she were a god, perhaps she would heal the world and save Mankind.
But she was merely a Priest who was still a step away from becoming an Iron Rank.
Under these circumstances, there was no need for her to agonize over things beyond her reach.
"Many tragedies are actually caused by people lacking the necessary power, yet still insisting on taking on more burdens than they can handle."
"I am here right now, seeing the issues within you, and I despise the lustful, Wild Beast-like behavior of these people, but that does not mean I will let you off the hook."
Isabella refused to be bound by such immature moral blackmail. She possessed her own Cognition of Justice.
Therefore, by coming here, she could save the girl, but she could also become an enemy to Xiaobi, ready to shatter the power she had obtained from the Demon.
Xiaobi glared at Isabella, her small face twisted with ferocious hatred. She didn't need to understand any of Isabella's words. She only knew that the power she had gained was no longer complete, making it incredibly difficult to vent the burning resentment in her heart.
This twisted emotion stimulated the Berserk Accessory II implanted in her body.
Her Mental Power achieved Resonance with the accessory. In the next moment, her ferocious Mental Power went completely berserk, rapidly fusing with the pink, fleshy limbs around her.
As the Mental Power flooded in, the limbs—which initially only resembled arms—began to sprout other body parts.
Thighs, a torso, a neck... everything except a head.
Soon, completely formed mannequins appeared before them.
These human figures were incredibly crude, yet they all bore the tender, pink complexion of spring flower buds.
Following the appearance of these bodies, the people who had previously been incapacitated by Isabella's Deterred State spell slowly started to scramble back to their feet.
With bloodshot eyes, they lunged at the mannequins. In that moment, their Desire seemed to shatter through some kind of psychological limiter.
Everything underwent a twisted Change at this moment.
Like Wild Beasts in heat, these people clung to the mannequins, frantically venting their lust.
Their bodies rapidly flushed with an unhealthy shade of red.
Divine Art: Dispel Evil!
Sensing that things were going horribly wrong, Isabella immediately cast a new Divine Art.
The fluctuations of the Divine Art radiated outward, crashing into the bodies of the afflicted.
However, the results were far from ideal.
Only a small handful of people regained their senses from the dispelling wave, promptly screaming in horror as they fled the area.
The majority, after being touched by the Divine Art's fluctuations, merely saw their symptoms momentarily ease before plunging right back into their Desire-driven frenzy.
"This is troublesome. Their Desire is too deeply intertwined with her charming abilities," Isabella muttered with a frown. She controlled her Holy Fire, incinerating the mannequins that hadn't yet been claimed by the mob.
But for those mannequins that still had people clinging to them, she didn't dare strike so recklessly.
She could only refocus her concentration, rapidly chain-casting to layer an even more powerful Divine Art: Dispel Evil.
Every single one of these people was currently charmed, yet the very power charming them stemmed directly from their own Desire.
As a result, the compatibility was simply far too perfect.
Amidst this chaos, the first casualty appeared.
He was gripping a mannequin, violently thrusting his body against it. His inherently frail physique now displayed a peculiar, feverish flush.
Then, matching his frenzied movements, he abruptly began to spray blood. It wasn't just his mouth—blood poured from his nose, ears, eyes... every orifice was bleeding profusely.
In merely a matter of seconds, the unnatural flush drained from his skin, leaving him as nothing more than a pale, lifeless corpse.
All of the copious amounts of blood were greedily absorbed by the mannequin in that instant.
Isabella immediately furrowed her brows, racking her brain for a new approach.
Up until now, Xiaobi's abilities hadn't actually been all that formidable.
It took her a dozen seconds or so just to kill an Ordinary Person. If it were Isabella, provided she hardened her heart, a single burst of Holy Fire would be enough to incinerate everyone around her in an instant.
What made things so difficult for Isabella right now were these "hostages."
Even though they were steeped in Desire, and even though some of their actions were unspeakably vile, that did not mean they deserved to die.
The Evil thoughts that most people conjured up throughout their lifetimes were Innumerable, yet those actually put into action were exceedingly rare.
But the moment external forces intervened—such as being thrust into a special environment, or gaining sudden authority—the probability of acting on those Evil impulses would skyrocket.
From the looks of it, a massive portion of the blame for bringing all this to fruition lay with Xiaobi's Mental Power charm.
As Isabella unleashed Dispel Evil once more, a few of the flush-faced individuals finally snapped out of their daze. Screaming in terror, they scrambled away from the scene.
But during that brief window, five mannequins had already gorged themselves on human blood.
The tender pink hue had completely faded from these five figures. Now, they were stained a deep, visceral crimson, pulsating with a texture disturbingly similar to actual human muscle tissue.
"Kill her! She won't help me! She's a bad person!" Xiaobi shrieked at the top of her lungs. At her command, the blood-soaked mannequins broke into a sprint, charging straight at Isabella.
"Phew... I've held back long enough... Holy Fire, incinerate it all!" Beneath her soft chanting roared a tyrannical burst of Holy Fire.
The terrifying blaze rapidly engulfed the surroundings. Pure white, dancing tongues of flame coiled around everything impure, swiftly obliterating it all.
In that exact moment, the several mannequins seemed to overlap and merge together.
As the Holy Fire scorched through the outer three layers of mannequins, the remaining figures hidden within burst through the flaming barricade.
A bloody hand clawed viciously toward Isabella's head. Judging by how this thing had effortlessly pierced through Morkania's body earlier, it still packed a considerable Attribute Value.
"Clang!"
A Magic Array materialized in front of Isabella. Using a unique method, she had etched a Divine Art into her personal accessory, and the name of this Divine Art was—
Divine Intervention!
The surging flames utterly decimated the mannequins.
Isabella stepped out from the inferno, her gaze locking onto Xiaobi, who was now desperately fleeing into the distance.
Her eyes then shifted to Morkania, who lay collapsed on the ground nearby.
Crouching slightly beside him, Isabella narrowed her eyes and cast a Divine Art.
Divine Art: Expel Evil.
The very next moment, Morkania's body convulsed violently.
Following that, a fleshy pink lump forcefully ejected itself from his body.
It was a palm-sized Xiao Ren.
Meanwhile, the fleeing Xiaobi ground to a halt. She turned around, staring at Isabella in absolute terror.
"The hide-and-seek game is over."
