Chapter 194: What Did You Just Say!?

Chapter 194: What Did You Just Say!?

Evander’s POV

After talking to Claire, my anger had settled—at least a little. Since she didn’t want to make a big issue out of it, I decided not to either. In the end, I simply took her hand and walked into the mansion.

The moment we stepped into the living room, my eyes landed on Caspian.

What the hell was he doing here? That was my first thought. But as I observed him, the way he was fidgeting, the way he kept glancing at Damian, and most importantly, the way he was trying to shift my attention away from the situation—it was obvious something was off with him.

And by the way, he kept nervously running his mouth; I could tell he was involved in this mess. He wasn’t just here to visit. No, Caspian was trying to escape the situation because he knew that if I found out he had a role in this, I wouldn’t let him off so easily.

But what I hadn’t expected... was the absolute nonsense he blurted out in sheer desperation.

"I am the person you have been looking for!" he suddenly declared as his voice was louder than necessary.

The entire room fell into a stunned silence.

I raised an eyebrow, watching as Caspian clenched his fists and squeezed his eyes shut like a man awaiting his execution, while I stood there in shock as I tried to make sense of what he was talking about.

"I... I was the one who you had been looking for, the man... the person related to your brother!" Caspian didn’t stop only there and continued with his nonsense.

Just what the hell was he up to? Did he want to die, or was he planning to make me go crazy with his nonsense? Did he not know how important his matter was to me? Or he simply thought that he could come up with just anything to cover up this issue?

"What? What did you just say?" I asked, my voice dangerously low, needing to confirm if I had really heard him right.

Caspian gulped but still nodded, standing his ground.

That was it.

My patience snapped.

Without thinking twice, I took a step forward, my anger surging uncontrollably. "Are you out of your mind, Caspian? Do you even understand what you are saying?!" I lashed out, my voice echoing through the room.

He flinched slightly but still kept his mouth shut, which only fueled my frustration even more.

"What just happened?" Sissy whispered, her voice barely audible.

"I... I don’t know!" Damian muttered, his eyes darting between Caspian and me, looking as if he was trying to make sense of the situation.

Then, as if a realization hit him, he leaned toward Sissy and whispered, "I guess Caspian might have messed up even bigger than us!"

Messed up bigger? Did they think this was just some small mistake that Caspian had made?

I clenched my fists, my patience running dangerously thin. "You both are still whispering?" My voice was cold, cutting through their quiet conversation like a sharp blade.

Sissy flinched, while Damian immediately shut his mouth.

I turned back to Caspian, my anger bubbling just beneath the surface. "You better start explaining yourself properly," I said, my tone leaving no room for escape. "Because right now, I don’t know if I should be furious or just laugh at my stupidity."

"Evan! What’s going on here?" Claire questioned as she walked forward and took my hand. "I don’t understand what Caspian did and who you were looking for."

"Claire, you stay out of this!" I said in a cold tone as I walked forth toward Caspian and took him by his collar. "Either you explain it to me, or I would take it out of your mouth on my own!"

"Evan! Calm down! You can’t attack Caspian like that!" Damian intervened, grabbing my arm in an attempt to pull me away. His voice held a hint of panic, but I didn’t care.

"Fuck off!" I snapped, shaking off his grip as I turned to glare at him. My patience had already worn thin, and the last thing I needed was someone trying to stop me.

Did he not realize what Caspian had just said?

Caspian was talking about my brother—my brother! And from what he just claimed, he was involved with him, possibly even his lover. The very thought made my blood boil.

How could he keep this from me? How could he stand there and act like this was nothing?

I turned my furious gaze back to Caspian, my jaw clenched tightly. "You... You dare to stand here and say this now? After all these years?" My voice was dangerously low, filled with rage and betrayal.

Caspian took a step back, looking like he wanted to escape, but there was no way I was letting him go without answers.

"You better start talking," I growled. "Because if you think I am going to let this go, you are dead wrong."

"I told you—let’s talk alone," Caspian gasped, struggling to catch his breath under my grip. His eyes darted around as if searching for an escape. "Either way, it came out wrong! It’s not like what I said. If you calm down, I will explain everything."

"Do you really think so?" I scoffed, finally letting go of him, but not without a rough shove that made him stumble back a few steps. "Have you completely lost your mind?"

Caspian coughed, straightening his clothes before meeting my glare. "No! I am not mad, and maybe what I said didn’t come out right, but I am not wrong either." His voice was firmer now as if he had finally decided to stand his ground.

"Then say it properly!" I snapped. "No more riddles, no more excuses. Tell me what the hell you mean, right now!"

He exhaled sharply, rubbing the back of his neck. "I just... I didn’t want to talk about it anymore." His voice dropped. "I just want to forget it all and..."
