Chapter 406 - 356: Now I Can Pursue You Openly and Honourably (First Update)
Yi Luowa wasn’t sleeping, so Tong Airui couldn’t sleep either. He wanted to stay with Yi Luowa, but before he could sit for long, Yi Luowa chased him out.As soon as Tong Airui left, Yi Luowa hugged Huo Li and started crying.
Huo Li knew exactly why she was crying, but she didn’t bring it up or say anything. She just silently kept her company as her tears fell.
After crying her heart out, Yi Luowa wiped away her tears and returned to her usual self. "Crying feels so much better. You’re not allowed to tell anyone about why I cried today. If you say a word about it, I’ll cut ties with you!"
"I don’t even know what you’re crying about, so who am I supposed to tell?" Huo Li shot her a disdainful look. "You should’ve gone into acting. Those tears come fast and disappear even faster."
"One day I’ll get my third brother to find someone to write us a script, and we can all give it a shot." Yi Luowa rubbed her face. "Does it look like I’ve been crying?"
Huo Li smirked, "Even a blind person could tell."
Yi Luowa waved her fist at Huo Li. "A blind person can’t see light, let alone notice me crying! Quit talking nonsense; I’m not dealing with you anymore. I’m going to wash my face, and you should too. Your face is covered in mascara."
Huo Li grabbed her arm. "Piggy, you’ve done your crying. Don’t think about these pointless things anymore."
Yi Luowa pouted, "Aren’t you the one who said you didn’t know why I was crying?"
Huo Li chuckled, "With one look in your eyes, I can tell exactly what you’re up to! Let it go. Some things aren’t meant to be forced."
"You idiot! Go wash your face!" Yi Luowa laughed, pulling her up.
The two of them went into the bathroom. While washing her face, Huo Li said, "Piggy, tell me—doesn’t it feel weird that the senior suddenly became the Prince of Beidi?"
"You’ll get used to it eventually. Every family has its struggles. If it weren’t for being backed into a corner, who’d willingly hide their background?" Yi Luowa pressed a cold, wet towel to her face, her voice muffled. "Joyina doesn’t want her birthday to be a big event—just us few. Have you thought about what gift to get her?"
"Not yet. She doesn’t lack anything."
"She loves desserts. How about we team up and gift her a dessert shop?"
"That’s a pretty good idea. Since we can’t sleep anyway, let’s go online in a bit and check things out."
"I spotted one a few days ago, and Tong Airui already bought it for me. When the time comes, we’ll just tell Joyina it’s from both of us."
Huo Li glanced at her. "Then don’t include me in that. You and Tong Airui can gift it to her. It makes it look like I can’t afford to buy her a present."
"I know you’re loaded. I just wanted to save you some hassle."
"Saving trouble is easy. I’ll pick out a Porsche for her, gift it, and be done. But that doesn’t feel very thoughtful." Huo Li frowned and thought for a moment. "It’s not impossible. I’ll get her a car and then have its interior customized with a unique design. That’ll do."
"Isn’t teaming up to gift her a dessert shop more thoughtful?" Yi Luowa moved the towel off her face and glared at her.
"Should I give you money instead?"
"Do we need to be that meticulous about splitting things up?"
"Forget it. I’ll stick to gifting her a car. No way am I getting tangled up in all this!" Huo Li looked at herself in the mirror and patted her face. "Look at this face, so smooth, I’m falling for myself!"
Yi Luowa gave her a look of disdain. "Stop adoring yourself! There’s less than two hours before my second uncle gets back. Should we lie down for a bit?"
"You go to your own room to lie down. Otherwise, next time I come over, your Tong Airui won’t even let me in the house." Huo Li said, nudging her toward the door.
Yi Luowa smiled, "What are you scared of him for?"
"Sweetheart, I brought supper for you and Huo Li. Help me open the door." The two were playfully shoving each other when Tong Airui’s voice came from outside the door.
Huo Li laughed, "See? You won’t head back, and now he won’t sleep either. Here he comes with an excuse to check on you."
Outside, Tong Airui stood with a tray, tilting his ear to listen to the sounds within.
Yi Luowa ran to the door with a smile and gently pushed it open.
Tong Airui stepped inside carrying the tray. "You two must be hungry, right?"
Huo Li smirked, "We’re not as hungry as you are!"
Yi Luowa playfully pushed Huo Li, "Then we’ll eat, and you can just watch!"
Tong Airui chuckled, "Let’s eat together. Afterward, you two can rest for a while. When Second Uncle gets back, I’ll call you."
Huo Li and Yi Luowa exchanged glances and smiled. They nibbled on some snacks, and Yi Luowa followed Tong Airui back to her room.
While Yi Luowa lay down for a bit, Huo Li sat on the balcony waiting for Yi Weiyang to return.
When Yi Weiyang entered the doorway, the entire family rushed to gather around him. After confirming that he was truly alright, everyone went back to their rooms.
Huo Li and Yi Luowa followed Yi Weiyang into the bedroom. Yi Luowa’s eyes reddened, and big teardrops fell.
Huo Li stood by quietly, only to start crying too.
Yi Weiyang let out a sigh. "Stop crying, both of you. I promise I won’t do anything foolish like this anymore."
"You’re really something else. Can’t you discuss things with us first next time?" Huo Li walked over, her hands deftly undoing his buttons. "Luowa found out you got hurt because of her and cried all afternoon..."
"Luowa." Yi Weiyang reached a hand out toward Yi Luowa.
Yi Luowa stepped back, "I’m not going over to you!"
"This child!" Yi Weiyang smiled helplessly and withdrew his hand.
"You’re sick of me, aren’t you? Just want to be rid of this burden sooner, or you wouldn’t be secretly searching for my biological parents behind my back. I told Tong Airui today: no one is allowed to look for my birth parents! For this lifetime, I’m sticking with you!"
Yi Luowa huffed and stomped out of the room, only to see Tong Airui standing outside waiting for her. She pushed open the door and marched back into Yi Weiyang’s room. "Tomorrow, write me a self-reflection—wait, no, not a reflection; a pledge! You need to promise me you’ll never sneak off again."
"...Alright, I’ll write a pledge." Yi Weiyang wore a smile, looking at Yi Luowa.
Yi Luowa snorted before storming out.
Tong Airui reached up and tousled her hair. "Can’t you talk to Second Uncle nicely?"
"Talking nicely doesn’t work—he’d forget! This time, I’m not talking to him for an entire month." Yi Luowa deliberately raised her voice.
Yi Weiyang looked at Huo Li and let out a bitter laugh, "I’ve offended my little ancestor now."
Huo Li shot him a playful glare. "Luowa won’t talk to you for a month? Make that two months for me..."
"Don’t join the trouble. Tomorrow, help me smooth things over with Luowa. If she ignores me for a whole month, I’ll die of frustration."
"No way! You need to be punished. Otherwise, who knows when you’ll sneak off again?"
"I won’t make the same mistake twice. If it weren’t for Airui this time, I don’t even know what could’ve happened." Yi Weiyang slipped off his shirt while cooperating with Huo Li, who was undoing his waistband. When he saw her trying to help, he quickly stopped her hand. "I’ll take care of this myself. You should rest early."
Huo Li’s gaze darkened slightly. "Yi Weiyang, I want to take a few days off."
"Why? Not feeling well?" Yi Weiyang looked at Huo Li with concern.
Huo Li shook her head with a smile. "Luowa has some free time these days, and I want her to come shopping with me for wedding items."
"Wedding?" Yi Weiyang’s expression turned puzzled. Hadn’t she said the other day she wasn’t in a rush?
Huo Li tilted her chin toward him. "I said I wasn’t in a rush because I was waiting for Luowa. I can’t just show up for the wedding empty-handed—no way I’m going in without a proper dowry!"
A grin spread across Yi Weiyang’s face. "There’s no need for you and Luowa to take care of this; I’ll arrange someone to handle it."
"You only get married once. I have to be a part of this."
"Then you and Luowa go pick out wedding dresses." Yi Weiyang’s smile grew even wider.
Seeing his smile lifted Huo Li’s mood. "Luowa’s already had Ai Ni design several dresses for me."
"Luowa’s temperament is even more impatient than mine..." Yi Weiyang caught himself mid-sentence and suddenly quieted.
Huo Li smirked. "You impatient? I haven’t seen that at all! I’m basically throwing myself at you, and you’re still pushing me away."
"I’m just being responsible. Until you’ve made up your mind completely, I wouldn’t do anything inappropriate with you!"
Huo Li raised an eyebrow slightly—Yi Luowa guessed right!
"What if I ’throw myself’ at you again tonight? How about that?" Huo Li asked, tilting her head.
Yi Weiyang grinned, "I’d still send you away!"
Huo Li let out an annoyed humph.
"Go back to sleep. This is someone else’s house; it wouldn’t be good to let others see us."
Huo Li pouted. "I’ll help you get your prosthetic off, then I’ll leave."
Huo Li helped Yi Weiyang settle into bed before heading back to her own room.
The next day, Yi Weiyang was forced to write a pledge in front of everyone under Yi Luowa’s watchful eye, finally putting the incident behind them.
On August 2nd, Just held Joyina’s coming-of-age celebration at the Audridge Tower.
The crowd size wasn’t big, but the atmosphere was bustling.
Looking at the eighteen candles on the cake, Joyina smiled. With her hands clasped together, she earnestly made a wish. Then, smiling brightly, she looked at Mi Chenshuo.
"Mi Chenshuo, I’m eighteen now, which means I’m an adult. Haha... I can finally openly pursue you."
As soon as Joyina finished speaking, everyone present stared at her in shock. No one had expected her to say something like this at such an occasion.
