Chapter 392 - 344 I Can’t Handle This Matter (One More)
"Isn’t that your family’s old seventh?" Ai Ni Teng pushed the door open a crack and peeked outside. "He’s running pretty fast!""It’s not the old seventh. He came with me, but he didn’t come upstairs." Jimo Shanshan rubbed her forehead. "I just remembered, that might be Little Uncle!"
"Little Uncle is back?" Little Raindrop asked suspiciously.
"It should be him! I haven’t seen him before, but I’ve seen his picture—he looks like Grandma." Jimo Shanshan looked at the group and spoke slowly, "There was a whole row standing outside just now, and their faces looked like cucumbers, practically green! What on earth did you all say?"
"Oh no, we’re doomed!" Connie pouted her lips.
"What’s there to be afraid of? Worst-case scenario, we’ll just deal with them head-on!" Yi Luowa said with a sly smile. "Isn’t your family ruled by you anyway?"
"How will we deal with them?" Qiqi asked mischievously, grinning.
As soon as she finished speaking, Little Raindrop burst into laughter first. "Just deal with them however you want!"
Hahaha...
The room erupted into laughter, all of them giggling uncontrollably.
Little Raindrop wiped the tears from her eyes, "We better stop this nonsense, or we’ll laugh ourselves into wrinkles."
"Let’s go down and take a look," Qiqi said as she stood up.
Rubbing their stiffened-from-laughter faces, the group lined up and exited the room.
Yi Luowa secretly sighed. This family was so adept at keeping appearances—behind closed doors, they were absolutely bonkers, but the moment they stepped out, they transformed into classy, elegant ladies.
As they reached the staircase, Jimo Shanshan ran back up. "There are guests at home. Aunt told me to call you all."
"Who’s here?" Little Raindrop asked with a smile.
"Someone who came with Grandma. Said to be Little Uncle’s comrade-in-arms—it’s a woman!" Jimo Shanshan smirked mysteriously.
"A woman?"
Everyone craned their necks to look downstairs.
The living room was packed with people, but one guest stood out. She was wearing a blue military uniform, sitting straight as a rod on the sofa. Faced with so many people, she showed not the slightest trace of nervousness.
"And she’s a senior colonel!" Yi Luowa exclaimed enviously, her eyes fixed on her epaulet.
"She’s also a pilot," Jimo Shanshan laughed. "Pretty decent-looking too. Little Uncle does have good taste."
"I thought he’d take his time, but it turns out he moves pretty fast." Little Raindrop looped her arm through Qiqi’s and said, "Be on your best behavior, everyone, so you don’t scare her off."
"You’re the craziest one here, and you’re telling us to behave!" Qiqi laughed, swatting Little Raindrop’s hand playfully. Both of them led the way downstairs.
Yi Luowa and the others followed closely behind.
Tong Yehua saw them coming downstairs. Even though the other guests were fine, his face flushed red—mainly because he overheard things he shouldn’t have. He didn’t dare make eye contact with these particular relatives.
"Little Uncle, aren’t you going to introduce us?" Little Raindrop suppressed a laugh, looking at the slightly uncomfortable Tong Yehua.
"Oh—this is my comrade, Xin Ru Liu." Tong Yehua turned to Xin Ru Liu, who had already stood up.
Xin Ru Liu smiled and saluted Little Raindrop. "Your Highness Raindrop, hello!"
"We’re family; no need to be so formal," Little Raindrop said with a smile while introducing Qiqi and the others to Xin Ru Liu.
Xin Ru Liu was quite talkative and quickly warmed up to everyone.
After chatting for a while, noticing it was getting late, Tong Yehua’s family along with the old seventh and Jimo Shanshan said their goodbyes and returned to the apartment next door.
Once they left, everyone else also retired to their rooms.
As soon as Yi Luowa stepped into her room, Tong Airui pinned her against the door.
Yi Luowa smirked, "What are you up to now?"
"Remove the ’up to’ part!" Tong Airui narrowed his eyes slightly, "Watch how I straighten you out today! All those dirty jokes about our family secrets—you’ve got rather loose lips."
Yi Luowa giggled uncontrollably. "I didn’t say anything bad!"
"Didn’t say anything bad? I heard it all."
"If I don’t give you a little lesson today, you’ll keep running your mouth in the future." Tong Airui lightly bit her ear in a playful punishment.
To avoid further "punishment," Yi Luowa quickly changed the subject. "Honey, I’ve always been curious. In the military, you can tell rank by the epaulet—how do you rank people in the Shen Ying unit?"
"Have you not noticed all this time?"
"...I think your epaulets have different totems."
Tong Airui smiled, ruffling her hair. "Right. Shen Ying’s epaulets have eagle totems. The more colors on the totem, the higher the rank."
Yi Luowa nodded and switched topics again. "Honey, everyone seems to like Xin Ru Liu. Do you think Little Uncle’s marriage will be settled soon too?"
Tong Airui’s hand paused momentarily. "I’m telling you this, but don’t share it. Not even with Mom."
Yi Luowa perked up instantly, "What is it?"
"Actually, Little Uncle and Xin Ru Liu are just regular comrades. Xin Ru Liu is here as a cover for him."
"Huh?"
"Remember, after the old seventh’s wedding, weren’t Great-grandpa and Great-grandma planning to move to Xiawu? But Great-grandma didn’t want to leave Little Uncle behind, so now she doesn’t want to go. Little Uncle came up with this plan because he barely comes home a few times a year, and he doesn’t feel comfortable leaving Great-grandpa and Great-grandma here alone."
"Oh, so Little Uncle and Xin Ru Liu are just a facade. What a pity," Yi Luowa murmured as she slumped back into Tong Airui’s arms, looking disappointed.
"Only Little Uncle told me about this; don’t let a word of it slip."
"Mmm. I know what can and can’t be said."
The next morning, Tong Airui left early for the airport.
When he left, Yi Luowa was still asleep. When he came back, she was still in bed.
Yi Weiyang, clearly displeased, muttered, "It’s already ten, and she’s still sleeping. This child is getting more and more undisciplined!"
Tong Yao chuckled, "Let her sleep. There are two others who haven’t gotten up yet. They probably stayed up late last night."
Little Raindrop and Qiqi exchanged knowing glances.
Tong Airui found it curious—last night, Little Raindrop and Qiqi were the rowdiest, yet his elder brother and brother-in-law didn’t seem to scold them at all.
What he didn’t know was that Lance and Monica weren’t overlooking it—they were just waiting for the relatives to leave so they could settle the scores later.
...
The wedding of Mike Zekai and Jimo Shanshan was a purely Chinese ceremony. Both wore bright red wedding outfits, radiating festivity from every angle.
At the wedding, the bride’s family cried buckets, while the groom’s side couldn’t stop grinning.
Yi Luowa deeply understood—marrying off a daughter was like cutting a piece of flesh from her parents. If you looked at it that way, having sons was definitely less painful—at least you didn’t have to cry.
Three days after the wedding, Mike Zekai followed Long Che and them back to Xiawu. That couple were workaholics—didn’t even take a honeymoon. After just one day of rest, they returned to work.
Mike Zekai managed the local hospital, but whenever there was a major surgery in China, he’d fly back to oversee it.
Jimo Shanshan returned to China two or three times a month to visit family and check on the hospital. After all, the hospital in China was under her name now—she couldn’t ignore it.
Yi Luowa had been part of the family for a year now, but the house had never been this lively before.
Great-grandpa, Great-grandma, Great-uncle, Great-aunt, Lance’s family of four, Little Raindrop’s family of four, Teng Ai Ni and You Jia, Mike Zekai and Jimo Shanshan, plus Ni Lu—laughter had been echoing through the house for days on end.
Of course, having so many people also brought its share of troubles. Take Long Che and Teng Tianxiang, for instance—they never got along. Thankfully, Tong Yao had once erupted in anger back in China, so Long Che didn’t dare openly clash with his father-in-law. Instead, he resorted to subtler methods.
Teng Tianxiang, in his golden years, was left with two hobbies: one, constantly sticking close to Teng Ai Ni—once she got married, he moved with her to S Country. Two, playing chess. Although the old man’s chess etiquette left much to be desired, he was wildly passionate about it.
With a Go master in the house, how could he resist? Since arriving, he’d latch onto Yi Luowa whenever she was home—there’d be no less than ten matches before he’d let her go.
If Long Che wasn’t around, Yi Luowa would deliberately let him win. The old man would barely scrape out a victory each time. But if Long Che was present, she didn’t dare let him win—he had previously told her that whenever playing Go with Great-grandpa, she absolutely had to win. Winning even came with rewards.
Today, Long Che had the day off and was sitting in the living room watching the elder and younger duel over the chessboard. Afraid of upsetting Long Che, Yi Luowa bit the bullet and won ten games in a row. Long Che was thrilled, but Teng Tianxiang’s face grew darker and darker.
Seeing the precarious situation, Little Raindrop hurried upstairs to fetch Tong Airui. "Tong Fourth, your wife just won ten games in a row against Great-grandpa. At this rate, Great-grandpa’s going to get upset to the point of falling sick! Aren’t you going to do something about it?"
Without even lifting his eyelids, Tong Airui replied, "If his skills aren’t up to par and he still insists on playing with my wife, that’s not something I can help with."
Little Raindrop, resigned, went back downstairs, only to return shortly after. "Fourth Brother, Dad and Great-grandpa are arguing now—you better come down and take a look!"
