Chapter 335: By the name of the Great Emperor of Dark Hell, I grant you the forbidden!
"Mr. Alexander... if I heard you correctly just now, you’re saying... you want to unify the Horror World?" Penelope’s face turned pale, her eyes widened in disbelief as she asked.
"No shit. Why else would I travel all this way to the First Ghost Realm? Doesn’t the Third Ghost Realm have an inheritance of the Emperor’s Seal? I believe those Ghost Emperors would be more than willing to pass that inheritance on to me," Alexander said matter-of-factly.
Nobody doubted Alexander’s words, but what took them by surprise was the sheer scope of his ambition. Everyone’s gaze instinctively shifted to Untold.
Untold felt like crying. This was more than inviting a wolf into the house; this was like bringing a meat-grilling bandit into a sheepfold! Not only was the bandit planning to eat everything, but he was also looking to set up his own barbecue shop right there!
"Mr. Alexander, maybe you should reconsider! Not to mention the entire Horror World, just in our First Ghost Realm, there are no fewer than a trillion ghosts," Untold hastily interjected. One had to draw a line when using others as a scapegoat, after all. If things failed, he, the traitor, would be the first to bear the brunt.
"Indeed, Mr. Alexander! You’re extremely powerful, but you’re still just one man..." Even Penelope couldn’t help but chime in at this point.
However, realizing that Alexander had duplicates, she quickly corrected herself: "Well, you’re technically tens of thousands of people, but your forces are still too thin. Just in the First Ghost Realm alone, the number of Ghost Kings and above probably totals in the tens of millions. Even if you include Dark Hell, it’d be hard to control them all."
"I don’t need to fully control them," Alexander shook his head and responded, "All I need is to subdue them with overwhelming force."
"Absolute force?" Untold looked incredulously at Alexander’s duplicates and asked, "How many do you have?"
"One million," Alexander declared.
"Not enough," Untold shook his head.
"What about adding the two billion-strong army from Dark Hell?" Alexander inquired.
"Still not enough, far from it," Untold responded without a second thought. "With your one million, each wielding the Abandoned Emperor Stone, you could indeed sweep through the First Ghost Realm with the Dark Hell army, even potentially annexing a trillion ghosts.
But what’s the point? You can’t keep them subdued for long. The slightest hiccup could spark a revolt, and you and your Dark Hell army could be swallowed up. This is utterly pointless."
"Who says it’s pointless?" Alexander’s lips curled into a subtle smile. "What I want is to envelop the entire Horror World. To envelop and to conquer are entirely different matters.
Just like the waves of revolt that swept through Europe—such as the French Revolution or the English Civil War—without sufficient manpower for governance, even the most formidable tide would become meaningless. In the end, if it loses control, it threatens to engulf itself."
"What are you planning to do, exactly? I heard Kevin has united the entire Third Ghost Realm to go against Dark Hell. Is it to counter him?" As soon as Untold spoke, he shook his head, dismissing the notion.
"Impossible. A million Abandoned Emperor Stones would make Kevin wet his pants if you put them all on display! There’s no need to envelop the entire Horror World, let alone leave the Third Ghost Realm. You could easily sweep over most of it while Kevin is mobilizing his forces.
The entire Horror World has well over ten trillion ghosts. If it’s not for conquest, the only other reason that would warrant such actions is to deal with Mist..."
Untold’s words trailed off, and his already pale face turned as white as a snow-covered wall; his lips began to tremble. The others were in no better state. Even though Untold hadn’t finished his sentence, everyone knew what he was about to say.
The Mist World—it’s the nightmare of the entire Horror World.
"Do you know what you’re doing?"
Untold forgot his fear of Alexander for a moment, pointing at him in alarm and shouting, "Are you insane? Do you want to drag the entire Horror World down with you? We’re talking about the Mist World here! We’re nothing but lambs to the slaughter in the face of their forbidden power!"
No one contradicted Untold. Every Ghost Emperor present, save for Alexander and his duplicates, looked at Alexander as though he were a madman.
"If I dare to do this, it’s because I have confidence! If you want to know what that confidence is, take me to the teleportation array and you’ll find out," Alexander retorted.
"Fine! I’d like to see what kind of assurance you have," Untold agreed after a pause. A mixture of fear and curiosity swayed him.
After all, he’d seen a few guardians appear in Alexander’s room. Even if the most terrifying one, White Clothes, hadn’t shown up, perhaps...
Even the faintest possibility intrigued Untold and the other Ghost Emperors. The Mist World was an unshakable sword hanging over everyone’s heads, a shared obsession and nightmare for all the ghosts.
They arrived at a massive square where the teleportation array was located. As the Ghost Emperors moved, the city’s residents, who had sensed something amiss, left their homes to see what was going on.
When they saw their city’s ruler walking down the street followed by a horde of identical individuals—and Alexander at the front, the newly appointed Lake City Ghost Emperor—everyone’s attention was riveted.
Ignoring Untold’s suggestion to disperse the crowd, they made their way directly to the teleportation array. A colossal white light enveloped the area, and the first wave, numbering in the millions, dressed in black armor and helmets, were teleported onto the square.
Chaos erupted in Lake City.
"Hell warriors, it’s the hell warriors!"
"The hell warriors are here, run!"
The area around the array instantly descended into chaos, as countless ghosts attempted to flee in terror.
"Silence!" Alexander roared, his voice rolling like thunder. The aura of the Inheritance Ghost Emperor immediately subdued the entire Lake City.
As the crowd hesitated, a million soldiers clad in dark armor, the elite Fierce Ghost Army, knelt on one knee. Led by about a dozen duplicates, they shouted in unison, "Hail the Great Emperor of Dark Hell!"
Clearly, Louis had transferred the position of Emperor of Dark Hell to Alexander. This scene stunned everyone present.
"He actually attacked the Hell Warriors? Those are Hell Warriors! How dare he! How dare he!" Untold’s face contorted in disbelief and horror.
Alexander, with his million duplicates, wields forbidden powers and can control the energy of the Abandoned Emperor Stone. It’s not surprising that he could kill Hell Warriors.
What was shocking was that he dared to act against Hell Warriors, killing them and taking their armor, and doing so on a mass scale—slaughtering a million of them.
"Is this what you’re relying on? It’s not enough! Far from enough!" The fear of the Mist World and the astonishment at Alexander’s audacity eventually merged into a hysterical scream.
"Of course I know it’s not enough, far from enough!" Alexander’s body surged with Ghost Energy as he slowly ascended into the air.
Squads of Dark Hell’s army were teleported in, kneeling to pay homage to their Great Emperor. Alexander simply floated above, awaiting the arrival of the entire Dark Hell army.
In the end, the number of Dark Hell’s ghost army had surpassed that of the Lake City’s residents.
Standing aloft, Alexander’s voice swept across the whole of Lake City: "Citizens of Dark Hell and Lake City, look up at your sky!"
His voice reverberated throughout the city, carrying a certain magical power, irresistible even to Ghost Emperors: "Look! The sky is filled with cracks, swords hanging in the air! The Mist World is like a cloud of darkness, looming over all our heads, devouring our land, friends, and lives!"
"Do you live in perpetual fear? Are you awakened from sleep by nightmares of Hell Warriors? Does it feel as if a mountain is pressing down on you, suffocating you, leaving you terrified every day?"
"Now, I offer you an opportunity! I will lead the great army of Dark Hell, sweeping across the Horror World, pointing my sword at the Mist World! Who among you dares to fight with me?"
"Fight!"
Below, two billion Dark Hell troops shouted in unison, their voices tearing the heavens apart.
The people of Lake City hesitated. Only a scattering followed, a reaction Alexander had anticipated. Unlike the Dark Hell army, they hadn’t been brainwashed by duplicates’ relentless goodwill campaigns.
For any soul outside of Dark Hell, whether a Ghost Emperor or an ordinary lost spirit, the Mist World was a deep-seated nightmare.
After all, it was the shadow of failures left by generations of heroes over thousands of years.
"I know, you are afraid, trembling in fear! The very word ’Mist’ sends shivers down your spine! It’s fine!"
Alexander’s calm voice, full of mysterious magnetic pull, made the spirits bow their heads in shame.
"I, Alexander! The Great Emperor of Dark Hell, the Lord of Lake City, am here today to give you confidence!"
His voice escalated sharply, thundering: "Dark Hell, Tony! Step forward!"
"Tony is here!"
A voice rang out as Tony levitated and landed before Alexander, kneeling in respect.
"Commanding you to lead an army of millions, to plunder a hundred ghost cities, you may depart now! By the name of the Great Emperor of Dark Hell, I grant you the forbidden!"
As he spoke, Alexander lightly waved his hand, and hundreds of white Ghost Pills floated before him, flying toward Tony.
Without any hesitation, Tony accepted the Ghost Pills and swallowed one. Instantly, strands of Ghost Energy swirled around him, and a faint white mist emanated from his body.
Forbidden power! It was indeed forbidden power!
