As long as you have the courage, fierce ghosts go on maternity leave.

Chapter 180: My God, Tommy DeVito is their belief!

Chapter 180: My God, Tommy DeVito is their belief!

Cain and his companions hastily pursued, eventually catching up to the ghosts summoning the chosen ones.

However, they were not brought to the residence of the Fierce Ghost Association but rather to a nearby abandoned building.

It was a dimly lit house filled with many chosen ones lined up in a queue.

At the front, a white, bone-made square table was positioned, behind which sat a Fierce Ghost, looking stern. On the table, a large white leg bone supported a gigantic eyeball, emitting a ghostly green light, illuminating the entire room.

The previous enthusiasm of the wicked ghosts had seemed so intense that it was almost eerie. Contrarily, the present somber scene felt more like a return to the normal ambiance of the horror world.

This change made everyone’s hearts beat faster.

Could the earlier warmth have been a facade, hiding some underlying plot? The chosen ones were very cautious and somewhat afraid to step forward.

The Fierce Ghost sitting behind the bone table, with its green face and long tusks, looked quite ferocious, its blood-red pupils emitting a terrifying aura.

This wasn’t an attempt to intimidate the chosen ones; it was simply how he appeared naturally.

One should never underestimate someone because of their appearance. To be seated here, receiving the chosen ones, surely indicated a certain status and experience within the Fierce Ghost Association.

In his past life, this ghost was a white-collar worker named Watt, with a distinguished demeanor and a love for football.

Yes, the Fierce Ghost Association had recently recruited a batch of ghosts filled with resentment, all extraordinarily gifted, and Watt was one of them.

He had died of frustration while watching a football match; how could his face not be fierce?

"What are you staring at? Hurry up and get in line!" Watt noticed that the chosen ones were frightened by him and quickly urged them on with a smile.

However, as he smiled, his face became even more menacing, and the ghostly aura spread around the room, making the air seem to spark. The chosen ones became even more uneasy.

"What should we do?" At this critical moment, all eyes turned to Cain.

Cain was panicking too!

He hadn’t expected to be brought here without catching up to the leader he had in mind. However, thanks to his strong intuition, he didn’t feel any great danger. Biting his lip, he whispered:

"We have no place to hide, as the streets outside are filled with wicked ghosts. Our identities have already been exposed; we might as well give it a try! With that legendary figure in the Fierce Ghost Association, there shouldn’t be any danger. If worst comes to worst, we’ll fight these evil ghosts!"

"Cain, is that legendary figure you mentioned really that powerful? Even if he’s strong, he’s still just a human chosen one. Can he really become a high-ranking member of the Fierce Ghost Association?" asked one chosen one, somewhat disbelieving.

After all, the chosen ones often referred to themselves as players, though of the played kind. In the world of horror, their status was even lower than that of slaves in ancient Rome.

"That’s quite impressive!"

Cain couldn’t help but recall his previous experience at the Undead internet cafe, with the terrifying ghost computer, that completely surrendered just because of a glance from Alexander. Thus, he immediately gained more confidence and stepped forward.

"Name!" Watt saw Cain approaching and asked with a friendly smile.

But to Cain’s eyes, that horrifying ghastly face seemed more like a sinister grin before a meal.

"My name is Cain." A bit more nervous now, Cain replied carefully.

"Your resume, tell me about it!" Watt asked again.

"Resume?" The word was unexpected in the horror world, and Cain was somewhat taken aback.

"You were never employed in your world? You don’t even know what a resume is?"

Watt seemed to look down on Cain a bit but patiently explained, "Age, attributes, how many instances you’ve been through, what abilities you have! You’re here to join the Fierce Ghost Association, right? How can we assign a position without knowing your attributes?"

He looked like a hiring manager; anyone unaware of the context might think this was an interview for a corporate job.

This momentarily stunned Cain, but he honestly replied, "I have average attributes of 60 points, ghost energy 170, and a ghost technique: Ghost Slash. It adds a ghostly tear, causing rending damage to ghosts. I’ve gone through 12 instances."

"Not bad! You’ve reached the level of an evil ghost; that’s impressive! Any other abilities?" Watt nodded satisfactorily.

Cain was hesitant, unsure whether to reveal his innate talent. After a moment’s thought, he asked, "Can I ask a question? What’s Tommy DeVito’s status in your Fierce Ghost Association?"

From his previous experience with Alexander in the same instance, Cain knew that while Alexander hadn’t directly helped all the Chosen one, he had assisted him in obtaining a high rating, indirectly saving many of the Chosen.

Cain reasoned that if Alexander held a high position in the Fierce Ghost Association, it might explain the ghosts’ attitude toward the Chosen one.

However, when he found out Alexander’s actual status, he was taken aback.

Upon hearing Cain’s question, the room’s ghosts and Watt all became serious and almost simultaneously spoke with reverence, "Tommy DeVito? He is our belief!"

My God, Tommy DeVito is their belief!

That’s right, pleasing him could keep him alive! At least in front of these ghosts, Alexander was still a very powerful figure!

Cain breathed a sigh of relief and said, "I also have a talent that allows me to sense danger. My combat ability is not strong; I survived so many instances thanks to this talent."

"That’s a great talent! Tommy DeVito was right; Chosen one have great potential!" Watt was very pleased, hurriedly writing something on a piece of paper, then stamped it with a bone seal and handed it to Cain, saying,

"This is your appointment letter; from now on, you are the Deputy Commander of the Third Division! The members outside will take you there, work well with the ten thousand members of the Third Division, Tommy DeVito will not let you down!"

He’s an official now?

Cain was somewhat dumbfounded as he accepted the appointment letter.

This is a large-scale instance! Not only was he not eaten as food by the evil ghosts, but he also became the Deputy Commander, in charge of ten thousand members of the Fierce Ghost Association?

Ten thousand evil ghosts! When had a Chosen ever had such a glorious experience? Even if he couldn’t match Tommy DeVito, he’d surely rank in the top three on the Chosen’s contribution board this time!

With his successful appointment, a prompt sounded in his ear about joining the Fierce Ghost Association’s ranks, and the opening of the contribution ranking.

Cain was thrilled! Having been a Chosen one for so long, experiencing life and death through more than a dozen instances, he had finally made something of himself.

Thinking about standing at the top of the ranking with his hero, Cain was so excited that he was trembling all over.

He quickly opened the contribution ranking. In his mind, the instance had just begun, and aside from Tommy DeVito, who could possibly surpass him now that he had acquired the position of Deputy Commander? He must surely rank among the top!

However, the next moment, a series of ranks appeared before his eyes, and Cain was instantly dumbfounded: "I didn’t even make the top twenty! The instance has just started, so how do so many people have over ten thousand contribution points? This can’t be cheating... Wait, General Henry? Chief Instructor? Chief War Strategist?"

The real world had already held a memorial service, and now he had become the Chief Strategist of the Fierce Ghost Association?
