Chapter 179: That feeling,Familiar feeling!
"These evil ghosts, they don’t seem to harbor any ill will! They haven’t even called us bugs or anything like that!" muttered a Chosen One standing behind Cain.
Cain was slightly taken aback, but soon sneered, "Impossible! In the instance, these evil ghosts see us as delicacies; there can’t be a lack of malice! I’ve been through more than ten instances; I’m a seasoned Chosen One. There’s no way my judgment is wrong."
"What about them now?" asked the Chosen One, his face full of confusion, staring at the group of evil ghosts standing in the distance with a look of anticipation, "There are several of them at the Ferocious ghost level. We’re no match for them, so why haven’t they attacked? Instead, they look rather expectant!"
"Didn’t you hear their question just now? Clearly, the instance has concealed our identity, and they can’t confirm that we are the Chosen Ones!"
Cain hesitated for a moment but soon affirmed his judgment, declaring, "Next, everyone must follow my lead. Do not reveal your identity, or you will surely die!"
Having said this, he saw the Chosen Ones beside him nod solemnly.
Carefully, he turned to pass his instructions to the others, and then faced the evil ghosts before him.
Inside, he felt a surge of excitement.
He had always relied on his incredible ability to sense danger, surviving many perils. This time, he would become a hero, leading these many Chosen Ones through this dangerous instance.
Their identities must remain hidden, and he would have to rely on his wisdom and ability to perfectly deceive the evil ghosts before him.
With this in mind, Cain became spirited, and a confident smile appeared on his face as he stepped forward, "My friend, we’re not Chosen Ones. We have admired your power for a long time and intend to join you. Please refer us!"
"Not Chosen Ones, eh?" The leading ghost seemed somewhat disappointed, eyeing Cain and shaking his head, "Our Fierce Ghost Association doesn’t accept just anyone. We’re professionally trained. Since you’re not Chosen Ones, you’d better go find somewhere to hide!"
With that, the lead ghost waved his hand, and the demons turned to leave.
"Cain, they really left!"
"Fantastic, Lucky Devil! You actually deceived those demons!"
"Thank you, Lucky Devil! Otherwise, we would have become food for those evil ghosts!"
...
Seeing the evil ghosts leave, everyone was overjoyed, and they gathered around Cain.
"Basic tactics! These are basic tactics!"
Being praised, Cain felt a bit smug and began, "The ghosts of the Thrilling World are mostly entities filled with resentment, except for a few. They’re no match for our intellect! But always remember, in such instances where you must hide your identity from the start, never reveal that you’re a Chosen One."
Just then, they heard distant cries and shouts, with the faint sound of the word "Chosen Ones."
"It seems someone has revealed their identity!" Cain sighed, saying, "There’s no doubt they’ll end up as food for those evil ghosts."
For a moment, the mood was somber. The thought of comrades becoming a pre-battle feast for the Fierce Ghost Association was chilling.
"Should we go and see? Maybe someone was lucky enough to escape," someone suggested.
Everyone was somewhat tempted, considering that they had originally entered with the intention of meeting their end. Now that they could preserve their lives, it was already a stroke of great fortune.
But if any comrades were lucky enough to escape, having Cain by their side would likely increase their survival rate.
"I don’t feel any danger, and we’re far enough away that there shouldn’t be any problems," Cain hesitated for a moment, then nodded in agreement.
The group headed toward the direction from which the noise was coming.
Initially, in their imaginations, it must have been a hellish scene there.
Chosen ones, undoubtedly butchered and consumed by countless evil ghosts. Even if they weren’t killed on the spot for meat, they would surely be tied up like livestock and taken away.
However, the scene that met their eyes left them all stunned.
They saw about a dozen chosen ones, looking bewildered, surrounded by a group of evil ghosts. Instead of fearsome fangs, they were greeted with warm smiles.
"Friend, have a smoke! This is a top-notch cigarette, not the highest grade, but part of my collection!" one said.
"Bro, are you thirsty? Want some water? This is my treasured ghost soda, something Tommy DeVito gave me! I wouldn’t share it if you weren’t chosen ones! Make sure to join us later if you pick a team!" another chimed in.
The faint conversations that reached the group left all the chosen ones dumbfounded.
Where were the promised livestock? Weren’t they supposed to be devoured? Why did it look like they were being warmly entertained?
"Cain, something feels off!" one chosen one managed to say, a puzzled expression on his face.
"It’s a plot! This has to be a plot! Once they enter the fierce ghost association, they’ll definitely be used as gourmet food to motivate the troops! I’ve participated in more than ten instances; I won’t misjudge this!" Cain asserted firmly.
"Tommy DeVito!"
Just then, a figure on a silver motorcycle zoomed past, and the evil ghosts respectfully bowed.
"How’s the gathering of the chosen ones going?" the figure on the motorcycle asked.
"Most of the chosen ones in the vicinity have been gathered; there shouldn’t be many left!" the leading ghost replied.
"Good!" the figure on the motorcycle nodded, "Arrange them quickly, then prepare for battle!"
"See, it is a plot!" On Cain’s side, a chosen one exclaimed after witnessing the scene. "Look at this; it’s clearly their higher-up! Maybe these chosen ones have been summoned to be offered to him! Cain, thanks to you!"
However, Cain didn’t respond, and as the chosen one turned to look, he saw Cain staring intently at the departing figure, muttering, "That feeling! Familiar feeling! Maybe there’s no plot at all!"
"Cain, what’s wrong?" the others asked, puzzled.
"Do you want to get out of here alive?" Cain suddenly turned and asked.
"Of course!" they all answered in unison.
"Then follow me!" Cain said, striding in the direction where the silver motorcycle had disappeared.
"Cain, what are you doing?" they exclaimed in shock. Outside were a bunch of evil ghosts!
"Enough talk!" Cain shouted without looking back. "If you want to live, come with me to ingratiate ourselves with him!"
