Chapter 569: Going to Russia
Chapter 569: Going to Russia
Although Li Kian’s cultivation was only at the peak of Golden Core, his combat strength was not weak.
He had trained under Ye Xuan personally and had participated in countless zombie hunts in City A.
He had even joined that battle in City C.
However, he knew this mission was different. Russia was vast, cold, and filled with unknown dangers. Moreover, the ground was still covered in all those mutated animals.
If the rescue plane had really crashed or been attacked, the enemies they would face would definitely not be ordinary zombies.
They might even have to confront other survivors.
Chu Miao stood up.
"We can’t delay anymore. Those participating, go and prepare what you need. We will leave in one hour." She ordered and everyone left the meeting room immediately.
Outside the meeting room, the sun shone brightly over the sect.
Thanks to the massive protective array and the newly constructed city wall, the area around the sect had become one of the safest places left on Earth.
Children were practicing cultivation in the square.
Other survivors, especially ordinary people, were learning about weapons and practicing swordsmanship.
Others worked in the farm as they watered crops, weeded, or harvested vegetables.
Despite the apocalypse, life inside the sect continued with an almost peaceful rhythm.
Chu Miao looked around briefly before turning to Ye Xuan. Her expression worried.
"Do you think the team in Russia is still alive?"
Ye Xuan frowned slightly.
"It’s possible. If they had simply crashed, the signal device would still be stationary. But Yang Leo’s tracking device shows intermittent movement. Although it’s too far to track and the data might not be very accurate, I believe they are alive."
That was good news. Because it meant that the team was still alive and they weren’t injured to the point of being unable to move.
One hour later.
A sleek military transport plane sat on the runway outside the sect.
It was a makeshift runway that had been cleared using brute force.
Chu Miao would have preferred teleportation but because they were going too far, she didn’t want to drain her energy before arriving where they were going.
If they met enemies immediately after arrival, she didn’t want to be unable to fight due to lack of spiritual energy.
Pei Ming, Gu Fan, and Li Kian were already waiting beside the plane.
Pei Ming stretched lazily.
"Finally going on an international mission again."
Gu Fan rolled his eyes.
"This isn’t a vacation."
Pei Ming laughed.
"In the apocalypse, every trip is a vacation. You never know if you’ll come back."
Soon, Chu Miao and Ye Xuan arrived.
"Is everyone ready?" Chu Miao asked while looking at them.
"Yes, Sect Master," the three replied in unison.
Today, Gu Fan and Pei Ming didn’t call her sister-in-law like they usually did. They were more serious and looked the way they did before when preparing for a dangerous mission.
"Good. Let’s go."
The five boarded the plane.
Unlike before the apocalypse, flying now required skill rather than technology. Most navigation systems no longer worked, and pilots relied mostly on manual control and experience.
Fortunately, Pei Ming had gone on another trip recently and was familiar with flying blind.
As the engines roared to life, the aircraft slowly accelerated down the runway before lifting into the sky.
City A quickly shrank beneath them. From above, the scale of destruction was clear.
Abandoned highways, buildings collapsed due to the constant abuse from extreme weather conditions, and endless fields and streets crawling with mutated rats and other beasts.
Even after months of purging zombies, the Earth still looked like a ruined world.
Chu Miao sat quietly near the window.
Her divine sense spread outward, covering dozens of kilometers around the plane.
Ye Xuan leaned back in his seat.
"Russia is far. We’ll reach the approximate location in about seven hours."
Pei Ming’s voice came from the cockpit.
"Assuming we don’t run into trouble." He added while navigating the plane carefully.
He had the lives of three of his brothers and the princess of the Chu family in his hands.
He couldn’t take a risk.
But as if summoned by his words, Li Kian suddenly pointed outside.
"Guys, look."
Everyone turned toward the window. Far in the distance, a massive dark cloud was approaching rapidly.
However, the way it was moving made it obvious that it wasn’t a cloud, but a swarm of insects or birds.
Thousands... no, tens of thousands of even hundreds of thousands of flying insects.
As they got closer, the team confirmed that they were indeed insects, but they were all the size of a bird.
Their wings buzzed loudly with every flap, forming a terrifying black wave in the sky.
Gu Fan cursed.
"I thought there weren’t mutated flying creatures now. What’s going on here?"
Chu Miao frowned at the sight.
"It seems that flying creatures have entered the arena as well.
The swarm was approaching extremely fast. If they collided with the plane, the engines could easily be destroyed.
Pei Ming’s voice came through the intercom again.
"Brace yourselves! I’m going higher!"
He didn’t know if it would work but going at a lower altitude or colliding with those insects head on wasn’t an option.
The plane climbed sharply. With its nose almost facing vertically up.
However, the swarm followed its trajectory as if it was its main target.
Ye Xuan stood up immediately when he saw this.
"It looks like we’ll have to clear the sky ourselves." He said as he walked forward.
He opened the side hatch slightly, causing wind to roar into the cabin.
Chu Miao walked over and stood next to him.
"Well, don’t destroy the plane while you are at it."
Ye Xuan smirked.
"I know, darling."
He stepped onto the edge of the hatch, lightning already crackling around his body.
Fortunately, he was a cultivator and the amount of wind blowing in his body wasn’t enough to shake him.
Opposite them, the black swarm surged forward like a tidal wave.
Ye Xuan activated his superpower and thousands of electric arcs spread across the sky like a web.
