Apocalypse: Transmigrated General's Daughter Uses Space to Survive

Chapter 568: Rescue Mission

Chapter 568: Rescue Mission

Now, the perimeter wall around the sect had been completed and a stronger defensive array had been set up.

While eliminating zombies, the teams had rescued some more people including foreigners who had been trapped inside the city when the apocalypse started.

Moreover, the extreme cold weather and falling icicles had come to an end a few days prior and now, a new disaster had hit the world.

Each disaster seemed to be worse than the rest. At least with the last few disasters, people could still go out and collect supplies and kill zombies. However, things had become complicated because almost all the ground was covered by rats the size of dogs, both mutated domestic and wild animals, and even walking fish roamed the streets.

And what made everything worse was the fact that all these animals had turned carnivores and wanted to eat human flesh.

Inside City A, the only completely safe place was the sect since there were formations underground and the animals had been unable to crawl in through the underground tunnels left before or those they managed to dig up.

The other small bases in the city and even the only military base within City A was in trouble and kept sending word to ask for help from the sect.

Luckily, Ye Xuan was still a loyal soldier and went to help together with other soldiers occasionally.

The researchers had already tried everything to create a drug that can control or kill the animals but none succeeded.

The only thing that could at least make Chu Miao and her companions sigh was the fact that this disaster seemed to only involve animals that walked on the ground.

There weren’t flying creatures causing trouble, which gave them a chance to fly to different countries and kill zombies while rescuing people and bringing them back to the sect.

At first, the mission was different because flying planes without an active radar or a control tower was challenging.

However, as time went by, those going on missions got used to it and could now fly blindly without fear.

Until one day when a plane that was believed to have headed for Russia failed to return on its scheduled date.

All those who went on missions were given a schedule they must follow strictly to ensure safety.

If they came early or were late by a day or two, it was acceptable but if their delay went beyond three days, then it raised concerns that the team might have encountered a problem they couldn’t solve or they had perished.

Luckily, even though there wasn’t any sure way to track down the teams, Yang Leo’s engineering team had created a device that could pinpoint the general direction of the plane.

The closer the distance it was from the plane, the more accurate the location indicated.

When the plane that had gone for a rescue mission in Russia didn’t come back three days after its scheduled deadline, Chu Miao began setting up a rescue operation.

Because of her ability to teleport, she also joined the team.

"We don’t know what problem the team is facing. So, we need strong members for this mission. Even so, a smaller team will work better because it is less conspicuous and easy to hide our tracks as we investigate. So, I will take Ah Xuan with me. Pei Ming, Gu Fan, and Li Kian will come with me." Chu Miao instructed while sitting on the head seat inside the meeting room.

"Isn’t that team too small?" Commander Shen asked with concern when he heard that only the five of them were going.

"Yeah, we don’t know the situation there. It’s better to take a few more people, right?" Grandpa Li, who was also worried for his grandson, agreed.

"No, it’s precisely because we don’t know the situation there that we can’t take too many people. Don’t forget that everyone in this team, except for Li Kian are in the nascent soul stage. Even Li Kian is at the peak of the golden core. I don’t believe that there is any danger we cannot overcome. Don’t worry, if those people are still alive, we will definitely bring them back. If they are dead, we will wipe out every last zombie there before coming back to avenge them." Chu Miao swore as if swearing an oath.

The atmosphere in the meeting room turned solemn after Chu Miao finished speaking.

"Don’t risk your safety too much. But if you can cleanse another city even if it’s in another country, we won’t complain. That is getting closer to our goal of eliminating zombies in the world." Grandpa Chu encouraged them.

He knew his granddaughter well and knew that no matter who tried to convince her, she wouldn’t change her mind.

"Okay Grandpa. Thanks." Chu Miao smiled at her grandfather.

He was probably the one who understood her better after Ye Xuan.

Even though everyone trusted her strength, sending only five people to another country during the apocalypse still made many uneasy.

The world outside City A had long become a chaotic battlefield filled with zombies, mutated beasts, and unknown dangers. Traveling thousands of kilometers across continents was no small matter.

Commander Shen sighed but ultimately nodded.

"Alright. Since you’ve already decided, we won’t stop you. But you must stay in contact through the communication talisman every day."

Chu Miao nodded calmly.

"I will." She wasn’t annoyed by the old man’s nagging. She knew he just cared too much about her even though they weren’t related by blood.

Grandpa Li looked at his grandson Li Kian, who was standing quietly beside the wall.

This guy hadn’t shed the discipline of a soldier even now. He liked to stand as if in respect to his superiors when instructions were given or when going on a mission.

"Kian, remember that your cultivation is the lowest among them. Don’t try to act brave. Stay close to Sect Master Chu and Ye Xuan."

Li Kian straightened immediately and wasn’t offended by being called weak.

"Yes, grandpa."
