Chapter 661: Good Things Come in Pairs
Chapter 661: Good Things Come in Pairs
"Not lightly injured, Ruth. You won’t be able to walk for the next couple of days and will need someone to take care of you!"Ruth’s eyes lit up, Johan Niles sure knew the right thing to say!
"Major, I don’t have any family or friends here. You take care of me!"
"I don’t have the time!"
Lucas Chambers rejected her without a second thought. He was under crazy pressure with his superiors pressing him; he couldn’t possibly take care of a little girl.
He got up to leave, and Ruth suddenly lunged forward to hug his leg, "Ouch, my foot hurts so much!"
"Aren’t there doctors? There’s no use finding me!"
"Doctors can’t take care of my daily life!"
Ruth clung to Lucas Chambers’ leg, refusing to let go, while desperately signaling to Johan Niles.
Johan Niles couldn’t be happier that Ruth was pestering Lucas and immediately chimed in, "Her foot is sprained. You’d better apply ice at home and don’t let her walk for the next few days. Carry her, it’ll be fine!"
Lucas Chambers, uncertain as to whether Ruth’s foot was actually injured and seeing no way around her relentless badgering, squatted down, "Just this once!"
Ruth promptly climbed on his back and praised him, "Major, you truly have a sense of responsibility!"
Lucas Chambers snorted, carrying her outside, "Why are you so heavy? How much do you eat every day?"
"I’m only ninety pounds!"
"Aren’t you going to school? Once your foot heals, go to school!"
"I’m not going to school. I can’t keep up with the pace here, and it’s utterly boring."
"Not going to school, are you planning to become a delinquent?"
"Who said that? I plan to become a special forces soldier someday!"
...
Johan Niles leaned against the wall, listening to the two talking as they walked away, grinning broadly.
Ruth should have made a move sooner!
At least got them out of his hair!
Hopefully, Ruth could step up her game, keep Lucas Chambers at her place overnight, so he wouldn’t have to share a bed with someone else tonight.
The phone chimed with a message from Connor saying his sister’s eyesight had returned.
He was overjoyed!
Good things do come in pairs!
Immediately, Connor sent another message saying Cora Ginger was sick and if she came to the hospital, could Johan do him a favor and check on her?
Johan Niles looked at the message and immediately called Connor up.
"Emmett Price, you don’t still like Cora Ginger, do you?"
"What are you thinking about? No, I don’t."
"If you like Cora Ginger, then you’re forbidden to like my sister. Only scumbags play both sides!"
"It’s all in the past; I just asked you to help because Cora Ginger’s dad and brother came to borrow money from me for her treatment today. If she comes to your place, charge her less. After all, friends should help each other when they can."
"Ha! What kind of friendship is that?! When she dumped you for a rich guy, she didn’t consider us friends!
Connor, helplessly, "Well isn’t that something your sister orchestrated."
"Just because she set it up doesn’t mean Ginger had to jump in! If my sister set up a trap with money to make you betray Young Master Hunter, would you jump?!"
There’s no doubt Connor wouldn’t jump.
He even broke up with Natalie Niles because he feared she would set him up.
Connor remained silent for a long time.
Johan Niles couldn’t help but nag, "And her family is still borrowing money from you? Didn’t you already give them 2 million? Spent it all? That’s just overspending, who can afford them?"
"This time I only gave ten thousand, and from the look on her brother’s face, he thought it was too little."
"Of course! They squandered my sister’s thirty million, and your ten thousand just seems like a drop in the bucket, they don’t value it!"
Thinking about it made Johan Niles’ liver ache. His sister was insane, throwing money around like it was nothing to achieve her goals!
