Chapter 660: Helping to Entangle Major Chambers
Chapter 660: Helping to Entangle Major Chambers
Valley Hospital.Johan Niles had already tended to Lucas Chambers’ abrasion.
Major Chambers was in a bad mood today, his face sullen, lacking a bit of brightness and filled with an air of ruthlessness—seeming a bit like a special forces elite.
When he was in a bad mood, Johan Niles’ mood was exceptionally good, asking knowingly, "Still haven’t caught the person?"
"Got away."
"No worries, keep trying tomorrow and you’ll catch him. When you catch him, ask him where my sister is. Connor said my sister was bombed by him?"
Lucas gave him a glance, "Your sister got bombed and you don’t seem sad at all, do you know something inside?"
"How could I know anything inside? Didn’t you say my sister isn’t dead? Otherwise, you wouldn’t have come to A City to find her."
As they were talking, the door to Johan Niles’ office was pushed open, and a girl walked in.
Her shoulder-length black hair, wearing a modest short-sleeved cotton T-shirt, athletic pants, black and white canvas shoes, carrying an Adidas backpack, she softly said: "I twisted my ankle, can Dr. Niles take a look?"
Johan Niles was stunned for a moment before he asked in shock, "Are you Ruth?"
Ruth nodded listlessly, "Do I look ugly dressed like this?"
"Not at all, you look much better like this than before!"
Lucas was a bit irritable: "From now on, dress like this! If you dare wear those revealing clothes again, I’ll take you back to the unit!"
This is what a good girl should look like, she used to dress like a hooligan!
Ruth glanced at him, wanting to protest, but shrank her neck at his sharp gaze and grudgingly complied, "Okay."
Lucas walked over, squatted beside her, and rolled up her pant leg: "Which foot is hurt? How did it happen? Were you hopping around as you walked again? How many times have I told you to be quieter and steadier, you learned a bunch of tricks from Sister Natalie, but not even a bit of her steadiness?!"
Ruth’s eyes turned red, she pouted and started crying: "So you just like Sister Natalie, you don’t like me at all, you came to A City busy looking for her, you never thought about me!"
Johan Niles looked like he’d been struck by lightning, eyes wide as he stared at Lucas: "You like my sister?"
"Don’t listen to her nonsense, that’s not true!"
Lucas’ face was dark. How could he possibly like Natalie Niles? This was pure gossip, but he had never thought about Ruth—to be honest, if this little girl hadn’t shown up, he wouldn’t have remembered her.
His superiors had once assigned Ruth to him for care; he was Ruth’s legal guardian.
But he performed very poorly, this little girl had been growing wildly alongside Natalie, who was already quite mischievous, and now she had grown to have even more tricks!
He pinched Ruth’s ankle, his face still gloomy: "Where is your foot hurt? It’s perfectly fine!"
Ruth’s little face was dotted with glistening tears, her tone stubborn: "You’re not a doctor, I don’t want you to look! I want Dr. Niles to look!"
Johan Niles brought over a chair for her to sit, donned medical gloves, and slowly pressed her ankle: "Does it hurt here?"
Ruth screamed: "It hurts!"
"How about here?"
"Even more!"
"And here?"
"Especially painful!"
Johan Niles understood, this girl wasn’t hurt at all!
What was she up to?
Trying to cling to him?
Doesn’t seem like it, if she wanted to cling she’d have come to the hospital earlier, not waited until today.
If not to cling to him, then she wanted to cling to Lucas.
Johan Niles immediately felt pleased, finally, someone to shield him from Lucas!
