After Betrayal: Lightning Marriage to Mr. Enigmatic

Chapter 662: The Phantom of the Night

Chapter 662: The Phantom of the Night

Johan Niles scolded his sister, then scolded Cora Ginger, and still not venting enough, he scolded Connor as well. But despite his scolding, he still instructed the nurses at the front desk to watch for a patient named Cora Ginger. If she came to see him, they were to bring her directly to his office without charging her a penny.

However, he waited and waited until evening, but still didn’t see Cora Ginger come.

Could she have gone to another hospital?

That shouldn’t be the case!

Given her family’s love for taking advantage and money, she should come to him, a familiar face, for treatment—it’s both convenient and cost-effective. There’s no reason to go to another hospital!

Johan Niles grumbled as he took off his white coat after work, still unaware that Cora Ginger was perfectly healthy, and of course, wouldn’t be coming to the hospital.

In a farmhouse on the outskirts of town with a small yard, smoke curled upwards, and the aroma of food filled the entire courtyard, accompanied by laughter—a truly happy family reunion.

Outside the yard there were no streetlights, pitch-black beyond the walls, yet bright within, and on the walls... sat a cold figure.

This figure was dressed in black, blending into the dark night, as those inside feasted on meat and wine, unaware of her presence.

"Brother, where did you get the money to buy so much delicious food? I’ve seen lobsters this big only at the Royalton Club; they’re very expensive!"

"I’ve had good luck lately, won a bit of money, and bought some sea cucumbers and abalone to nourish our parents!"

"You gambled again? Didn’t you say you’d never go again?"

Cora Ginger was angry enough to hit him but raised her hand only to have Watt Ginger stop her, laughing cheerfully and drunkenly: "Your brother didn’t gamble; this money he earned through hard work. Don’t worry, he’ll earn more money in the future!"

Zack Ginger looked proud and smug: "Your brother is amazing! Aren’t you sick? This bowl of bird’s nest soup is for you; you need to replenish yourself! I heard female celebrities eat this, so I specially bought it for you!"

He placed the bird’s nest soup in front of Cora Ginger and, after finishing a lobster, fished out a crab from a large basin, shaking his head and eating.

The table gradually piled with delicacies, all costly ingredients clumsily paired together, with a heavy nouveau riche vibe emanating.

Cora Ginger’s mother, Tatum Gomez, had survived several rounds of chemotherapy, staying alive with expensive medicine, and was in quite good spirits. She had been able to go out on her own in recent days.

Her body was thin, eating little, but she was very happy: "This is the life! Zack, you don’t need to find a job, just bring your wife back and have her give me a big fat grandson soon—that’s the real deal! Cora can go to work, and by the way, bring your wealthy boyfriend back. Don’t let your brother work too hard."

Cora Ginger replied irritably: "He doesn’t want me; he has a girlfriend!"

Zack Ginger immediately responded: "Sister, I asked around, and his girlfriend seems to have left. That bodyguard is definitely single now, and he doesn’t have anyone at home. You should hurry and make amends with him! That villa of his is large and luxurious, and if our family could move in, we wouldn’t have to be stuck in this poor place!"

This was their old house from their hometown, long unmaintained, dirty and decrepit. Zack Ginger had visited Connor’s place during the day and felt a huge disparity, eager to own such a big villa.

Before Cora Ginger could speak, a cold voice drifted over like a ghost:

"I can send you all to a new place, like a prison, or maybe... Hell!"
