Chapter 256 256: Where are we?
Chapter 256 256: Where are we?
Consciousness slowly came back to Violet, her first sensations were that of pain rippling through her body. Then as her mind slowly pieced together her somewhat hazy memories she suddenly sat straight up in shock.
Yet that was somewhat of a mistake and she only made it half way up before falling back to the ground as she let out a potions moan of pain due to her sudden movements.
Still Violet opened her eyes and looked at her surroundings in curiosity, she first took note of the fact that their was an actual sky above her, not the now familiar rocky ceiling of the underground.
It was night time currently, or more accurately the very early hours of the morning given she could see the faint blush of sunrise in the distance.
Violet next noticed that she was not alone in this location, Luna lay besides her. She was unconscious and looked to be in a fairly rough state, but it was nothing life threatening thankfully allowing a unnoticed tension to relax in her heart at the sight of her companion.
She reached over and gently brushed away a stray lock of hair from Luna's face allowing her to see the peacefully resting face of the one she loved, the sight brought a faint smile to Violet's lips and she took a moment to admire the sight before returning her attention to their surroundings.
What she bore witness to was not at all what she expected to see.
Violet had lived her entire life surrounded by trees of one kind or another, the only exception being her short stay underground in Cragkieth. So she was quite surprised to see that they were currently on a vast open grassy steppe stretching far to the west whilst a half dozen steep mountains dominated the landscape to the east.
The steppe seemed to stretch on far to both the north and south. With the south becoming slightly more hilly with the north remaining flat until it reached a sight that Violet truly did not expect to bear witness to. The sea.
She had seen a sea during the first floor of the dungeon, yet to compare that facsimile to the grandeur of the endless azure waters would be in injustice of the highest order.
It was a breathtaking sight, the water meeting land less than a kilometre away and then stretching off into the distance before merging with the horizon uncountable kilometres away.
Violet's attention was drawn away from the sparkling waves by a grunt coming from Luna. She quickly turned back to her companion and gently shook her shoulders to try and wake her, sadly it seemed like Luna was not yet awake.
A sigh escaped her as she once more gazed out at the endless ocean before her. Then she slowly sat up, testing her muscles as she did to ensure she didn't pull anything.
Violet turned to watch Luna's sleeping form and decided that she could help make her more comfortable, so she scooted over slightly then gently manoeuvred Luna's head so that it rested on her lap. Satisfied with that Violet then turned to the system messages that were just waiting to be viewed, her eyes opened wide in complete shock at what she saw.

Violet stared at the notifications in blank shock for several prolonged minutes, her mind struggling to comprehend that the Tyrant that she and the adventures had helped kill was at such a monstrous level of strength, it was so close to reaching the near mythical strength of tier 6.
A level that from what she understood next to no one alive today had managed to reach.
After some time processing that information, Violet finally decided to open up her full status screen to witness exactly what had changed with her recent windfall.

Violet stared at the numbers with mild incomprehension. She had gained 21 levels from that fight, no doubt the vast majority coming from assisting in taking down the Tyrant.
The raw boost in stats alone was awe inspiring, all of her main 3 stats were now over 400 marking a significant boost in her effective strength. That with the flat plus 30 to all stats she received from passing level 100 made the numbers even more ridiculous.
To add onto that she now had 2 skill upgrade tokens to use which would undoubtedly strengthen her even more!
She was awoken from her stupor when she felt movement from her lap, Violet looked down to meet the enchanting blue eyes of her companion staring right back up at her, she smiled down at Luna warmly and noted a slight flush of her companions cheeks at the action causing her smile to widen even more.
"Hey there, how you doing?" She coyly asked, unable to hide the excitement from her incredible boost in strength from her voice.
"Hey to you too." Luna whispered hoarsely. "What's got you in such a good mood?"
"Hmm why don't you have a look at your notifications and then you tell me?" Violet answered with a grin.
Luna rolled her eyes at Violet's antics, she had a dozen questions that she wanted to ask but decided to humor her and check her notifications. She then froze in place as her eyes widened in utter shock at the numbers she bore witness too.
In a haze Luna too opened up her full status screen to witness the full extent of the changes brought about by the battle.

"Wha… by the gods…" Luna muttered in disbelief as she stared at the massive gains she just received.
Violet laughed at her companions reaction. "I know right! I was thinking exactly the same when I saw my own increase."
"It almost doesn't seem real that we gained so much strength from a single day."
"I mean it was one hell of a day though, plus how often can people in the early stage of tier 4 say that they helped kill a monster in the later stages of tier 5? I think the rewards are appropriate." Violet replied with her grin still plastered on her face.
"Yeah fair enough, still that is amazing…" Luna muttered to herself. Then her eyes flicked out to the surroundings and a touch of confusion overcame her features.
"But more importantly where exactly are we?" Asked Luna as she gazed at the flat grasslands, mountains and ocean in interest.
"I have no idea." Violet happily stated. "But if I had to guess, I think we are at the easternmost point of the continent."
Luna blinked in confusion at her words. Not quite understanding how they had arrived here, yet when she remembered space itself breaking apart along with the flash of orange and blue before everything went black she began to piece things together.
"Well… is that good or bad?" Luna tentatively asked. "Wait where are the girls!?"
At that Violet winced slightly. "I-I don't know, but I have a feeling that they are alright, don't know why I think that but I have a feeling that we will see them again, hopefully sooner rather than later."
At those words Luna could only nod as she and Violet stared around at the unfamiliar landscape as the sun slowly emerged from behind the horizon and painted the world in its warm orange rays.
