Adventures of the last Wild Dragon

Chapter 257 257: New Land

Chapter 257 257: New Land

The two companions sat in silence for some time as they both took a moment to process everything that had just happened to them and their friends.

"I do hope that we can see them again soon, do you think that they will head towards Syan?" Luna asked into the silence.

"Hmm, probably yeah. That was the spot we were next supposed to go to so it would make sense for them to head in that direction in the hopes that we made our way there too. We do have a map to get there, although it only shows the route from Craigkieth to Syan, so it might be kind of useless to us right now."

Luna nodded thoughtfully at that. "Yeah that makes sense… well, I guess we should probably look around our current location. Maybe climb one of those mountains to get a better look of the surroundings?"

Violet gave Luna a sideways glance whilst raising one of her eyebrows in silent question. Luna seeing that look frowned in confusion for a moment, it took Violet slowly flapping her wings for Luna to understand.

"Ahh, right your a dragon, and dragons can fly… let's just forget I forgot that point yeah?" As she spoke Luna flushed slightly and turned her head to the side.

A gentle chuckle emerged from Violet at that. "Hahah anything you say dear, but could I get you to give me a once over with your ice? Still have some internal wounds that I'd like to get healed up before transforming."

That snapped Luna out of her state and she refocused on Violet, her eyes opening wide in surprise as she actually took in the current state of her companion.

Whilst neither of them were exactly in great condition, Luna at least only had some shallow wounds that had mostly healed up naturally. Violet on the other hand, she still had some deep wounds, particularly on her back and wings from when she protected Luna from the spatial fracturing.

She rushed to imbue Violet with her healing ice, the soothing chill closing up the visible wounds at a steady pace. The two remained like that for some time as Luna steadily healed them both back up to full health, a process that look slightly longer than originally expected.

Still soon enough they were both back in near perfect physical health, they stood up and stretched out, enjoying the morning rays now bathing the world in its warm embrace.

"Well then let's go for a quick flight shall we?" Violet said with obvious enthusiasm, her time underground had prevented her from truly stretching her wings and she was eager to once more feel the freedom of the skies.

"Go for it." Was all Violet heard before she activated her transformation skill and was enveloped in a purple glow.

Luna watched on with interest, always finding the process of their beast transformations to be fascinating to witness. Yet it came as a surprise when Violet's growing form surpassed her previous size.

Previously Violet had been around 10 meters long and a couple meters tall. Now her figure had already eclipsed that previous mark and showed no sign of stopping just yet. 12 meters, 15 meters, 17 meters finally her length began to slow until she stopped her expansion when she was just shy of 18 meters from tip to tail.

It wasn't only her length that had changed. From the ground to her shoulders she now stood easily 5 meters tall, with her long neck she could easily pass 7-8 meters. Her scales retained their beautiful mix of onyx and violet, with her now enlarged wings a mesmerising fuchsia on the membrane that blended into the darker purples along the bones and scales.

Luna craned her neck up to stare at her now considerably larger companion in awe trying to understand how she had become so much larger in a single day. Then she though about her own size, had her true form also grown since passing level 100? Well there was only one way to find out.

A blue and iridescent white light enveloped Luna as her form too began to grow. Soon enough she too looked down at herself to assess her own size. Luna was both surprised and slightly sad at her growth, she had indeed grown but not by as much as Violet had.

Luna now stood around 6 meters long and 3 meters tall, her blue and iridescent white fur remaining the same. Yet when before she was only slightly smaller than Violet in her beast form she was now around half the size of her companion, looking like a puppy next to its parents.

Violet too had noticed her growth, craning her head around to observe how much she had grown. She smiled down when Luna had finished her own transformation in a wide, predatory smile.

"Aww you look so cute down there, I'll have to be careful not to step on you when walking." She teased.

A snort of amusement was the initial reply. "Ha, we canny all be overgrown lizards like you now can we?"

"Hey I am a perfectly healthy young dragon I'll have you know!"

"Sure sure." Luna laughed. "But seriously did you have any idea that you would grow so much? I had no idea that would happen, recon it's because we passed level 100?"

Violet chuckled for a moment as she thought about it before slowly nodding. "Yeah it much be right? I can't think of any other reason it might have happened."

Luna nodded at that as she slowly walked around Violet, inspecting her new form. "Hey so will you only ever get bigger? If so it might be hard for you to fit into some places in this form? Are you able to shrink like what Vithrax could do?"

Violet went silent for a moment as she felt around the edges of her shapeshift skill, soon she felt something and pulled on the mental thread. A moment later her form began to shrink, it was a slow process but she steadily shrank until she stopped just a touch larger than her previous size.

"Hmm I think this is as small as I can go right now, but since I just got a level in my shapeshift skill from doing that I think I should be able to get smaller the higher the level of the skill. I think you should be able to do something similar."

Hearing that Luna to tried it out and soon enough her own shape began to shrink, yet she could only knock just under a meter off her length before she felt unable to do any more whilst staying in her beast form.

"Yeah this is as much as I can do right now, but either way I need to be back in my humanoid form if we are going to fly anyway so I'll change back for now." As she finished light once more enveloped Luna as she rapidly shifted back into her humanoid form.

Once back like that she took a step and appeared on Violet's back who in turn began to grow back to her propper size.

Then Violet tensed her muscles before she leapt into the air whilst flapping her wings down in a furious explosion of force. Then she was airborn, Violet flapped quickly to build momentum, rapidly gaining height as the wind flew past her.

The ground quickly grew distant as she soared ever higher into the open sky. After some time she evened out her flight and finally looked around to get a better view of the surroundings.

As she had previously noted to their east stood a small mountain range, well small when compared to the spine. These mountains still easily surpassed the lonely mountain when she was born in height.

To the north the grassland soon transitioned into a sandy beach before the ocean claimed the horizon. To the south and west the grassland dominated the horizon, violet though she could make out a slight change of environment far to the west but she couldn't make out any details at this distance.

"Wow there are so few trees here." Violet heard from Luna through their companion bond. "It looks so strange yet also quite boring."

"It is quite unusual isn't it. Any preference on where you want to explore first? I wouldn't mind checking out the mountains before we go anywhere else." Replied Violet.

A moment of silence came as Luna stared out at the landscape below them whilst Violet gently maintained their altitude. "Yeah let's go to the mountains, I'd like to see what lies beyond them and see if we really are at the eastern edge of the continent."

"Let's go then." Said Violet as she turned to face the east and began to quickly advance as she gained even more altitude.

Time passed quickly for the two companions as Violet soon learnt the new limits of her enhanced strength when it came to flight speed. She was noticeably faster than her previous times flying, she also felt much greater control over her flight, likely aided by her flying skill.

Soon Violet became level with the very peaks of the mountains before them, allowing them to see what lay beyond. An endless blue stretched out into the distance, rolling waves of the ocean was all that lay beyond the last stretches of land.

The two companions had truly landed themselves at the very edge of the continent.
