Chapter 218: Thunder God Descent
Chapter 218: Thunder God Descent
In the aftermath of the dramatic confrontation, Drakina stood with a stoic yet imposing presence, surveying Lydia and Erik. The faint hint of a challenge glinted in her eyes as she addressed them with a calm and steady voice. "Do you really think you can beat me when even the three of you together couldn’t defeat me before?"
Lydia, unwavering in her stoic composure, met Drakina’s gaze squarely. "It’s true we couldn’t defeat you before, but the circumstances have changed. We weren’t truly unified in our efforts then. This time, it’s different. We’re fighting together, as a cohesive unit," she said, her voice firm and resolute.
Erik, standing beside Lydia, maintained his confident stance. Despite the recent turn of events, his belief in their collective strength was unshaken. "Exactly," he agreed with Lydia. "We’re stronger now than we were before. And this time, it’s personal. We will defeat you, to avenge Alfred." His fists clenched, and determination was etched on his face, signaling his readiness for the battle ahead.
Drakina’s response to their declarations was a faint, mocking smirk. "I’m intrigued to see you try," she said, her tone laced with mild amusement. "Your resolve is commendable, but let’s see if it’s enough."
Lydia’s eyes narrowed slightly at Drakina’s taunt, a subtle shift in her typically impassive expression. She took a step forward, her stance solid and grounded, ready to engage in combat.
Erik, meanwhile, cracked his knuckles and shifted his weight from one foot to the other, eager to spring into action. His eyes sparkled with a mix of anticipation and a burning desire for retribution.
Drakina observed their body language, her own posture relaxed yet alert. She seemed almost to be studying them, analyzing their readiness and resolve. The air around them was thick with tension, the anticipation of the impending battle palpable.
Erik, filled with determination, activated his Thunder God Body without a moment’s hesitation. His form became enveloped in a vibrant, crackling energy, highlighting his readiness for combat. With a confident stride, he lunged towards Drakina, his thunder spear in hand, electricity arcing off its tip as he prepared to strike her at close range.
Drakina, observing Erik’s approach, asked with a hint of amusement in her voice, "Do you call this your new strategy?"
Erik, grinning, replied confidently, "You haven’t seen anything yet." In an instant, he vanished from Drakina’s sight, utilizing his speed to his advantage.
Lydia, seizing the opportunity created by Erik’s diversion, acted swiftly. She pressed her hands to the ground, and a massive pillar of earth surged upwards from beneath Drakina, aiming directly at her with tremendous force.
Drakina, quickly piecing together their plan, commented, "So, you’re buying time for her to use a more powerful skill." Her voice was calm, but there was a clear recognition of their tactic.
Erik reappeared, a knowing smile on his face, pleased with their synchronized attack. "Let’s see how you handle this," he said, his eyes focused intently on Drakina.
However, Drakina remained undaunted. "Do you think this could defeat me?" she asked confidently, her expression unchanging.
In response to their combined assault, Drakina transformed her Mystical Resonance yet again, this time into a massive dragon hammer. With a swift and powerful swing, she effortlessly shattered the incoming earth pillar, sending debris scattering in all directions. Her movements were fluid and precise, a display of her formidable strength and control.
Drakina stood in the midst of the battlefield, a look of mild surprise crossing her stoic face as she realized Erik and Lydia had vanished from her immediate view. "Is that it?" she asked aloud, her voice echoing slightly as she scanned her surroundings.
Then, from above, she heard Lydia’s voice, firm and resolute. "This is the real attack," Lydia announced. Drakina looked up just in time to see an enormous earth golem, summoned by Lydia’s immense power. Erik had enhanced the golem further, covering it with his Thunder God Body, adding an electrifying aura to its already formidable presence.
"Together, take this: Thunder God Descent!" Erik and Lydia shouted in unison. Their combined form descended rapidly from above, the golem’s immense weight and power amplified by the force of gravity and the added strength of Erik’s thunder.
Drakina, observing the descending golem, smiled, her expression unchanged by the impending attack. "Do you think this is enough to defeat me?" she asked confidently.
"Let me show you what a real god is," Drakina declared, her voice calm but filled with an underlying threat. In a stunning display, she began to transform into a massive Proto Cyber Zombie Dragon. The transformation was smooth and seamless, her body morphing and expanding into the colossal dragon form. As she completed the transformation, a cannon emerged from her mouth, its barrel aiming directly at the Thunder God Descent.
"Dark Draconic Flame Cannon," Drakina announced. She unleashed a powerful blast of dark, fiery energy, creating a spectacular collision with the Thunder God Descent. The energy from her cannon clashed with the descending golem, creating a shockwave that rippled through the battlefield.
Erik and Lydia, watching from above, were initially confident in their attack. "This is the end for you, Drakina!" Erik shouted, his face alight with the determination to avenge Alfred. Lydia, though more composed, shared a similar resolve, her expression set in a rare display of intensity.
But their confidence quickly turned to shock as they witnessed Drakina’s counterattack. The force of the Dark Draconic Flame Cannon was overwhelming, clashing against their Thunder God Descent with immense power.
"No," Erik gasped, his eyes widening as he witnessed the overwhelming power of Drakina’s attack. The realization that they were up against a far more formidable opponent than they had anticipated was written all over his face.
Lydia, usually stoic and composed, also showed signs of panic. "How... how is she this powerful?" she murmured, her voice tinged with disbelief and fear. Her usual calm demeanor was shaken as she watched their most powerful move being overpowered by Drakina’s cannon.
The two Ascendants tried desperately to reinforce their attack. "We can’t let her win," Erik shouted, his body tensing as he poured more energy into the Thunder God Descent, his muscles straining under the effort.
Lydia, channeling all her remaining power into the earth golem, gritted her teeth and said, "We must avenge Alfred!" Her face, usually impassive, now showed a mix of determination and desperation.
Their efforts, however, were in vain against the might of Drakina’s Dark Draconic Flame Cannon. The force of the cannon was like a relentless tide, overpowering the Thunder God Descent and pushing it back with its sheer power.
As the realization dawned on them that their combined attack might not be enough, Erik and Lydia shared a look of despair. "We did everything we could," Erik said, his voice filled with regret and resignation.
Lydia, acknowledging their impending defeat, added softly, "We fought well." In her eyes, there was a glimmer of acceptance, a stoic resignation to their fate.
Their final stand against Drakina was heroic but ultimately futile against her overwhelming power. As the Dark Draconic Flame Cannon enveloped them, their expressions were those of warriors who had given their all, facing their end with courage and dignity.
