Chapter 758 - 761: Silence is His Greatest Cry 8_1
Chenxing hummed, bowed her head, and began to gulp down her porridge. In her rush, she choked a bit. A clean napkin was presented in front of her. She looked up and met his eyes.
He said, "That’s what happens when you don’t eat properly!"
She: "..."
After a pause, she fiercely responded: "I’m just a commoner, not a fancy lady! The porridge I made is just the ordinary stuff you can buy from a street stall. It’s not fit for some precious young master’s palate!"
He chuckled and ignored her sarcastic tone, eating his porridge quietly, seemingly on purpose to show her how to eat properly — chewing slowly and elegantly.
He was a beautiful sight to behold.
At that moment, her phone rang. Chenxing answered and err-ed and oh-ed several times: "Um, let me think about it... okay, I’ll give you a call when I’ve decided..."
After hanging up, she seemed somewhat happy.
"What happened?" He asked casually.
She took a few gulps from her milk and replied, "The singing competition I attended last night, the judges called me and said I’ve passed the audition. I have to attend a three-day training for the next level competition. But I was just singing casually, I didn’t plan to seriously enter the competition."
Gu Shaocheng simply nodded without comment.
"Do you think I should compete for the next level?"
"Up to you."
"Maybe I could be a singer in the future. Many stars accidentally made it into the entertainment industry," Chenxing clasped her hands, dreaming about unattainable dreams.
Gu Shaocheng looked at her shimmering eyes, a sight that moved his heart.
After some pondering, he thought maybe singing could distract her, which might not be a bad thing. But entering the entertainment industry? He didn’t like it! It was a chaotic place. He decided it’s better to distract her for now: "If you enjoy it, give it a try, see it as a challenge. Though you might be a bit ugly, you do sing pretty well."
"You’re the one who’s ugly!"
Gu Shaocheng smirked: "Even so, I’m still better-looking than you."
Roar!
All the civilized eating habits forgotten, she glowered and gnawed at her fried egg, her face looking like she was imagining it was him that she was biting into. Gu Shaocheng chuckled, wiped his mouth with a napkin, and said, "I’m full, gotta go."
Upon hearing that, Chenxing sprang up to her feet. Before Gu Shaocheng could figure out her intention, she was already by the door, locking it, and then positioning herself to block his exit.
She remained silent. After understanding that words didn’t matter, she only clenched her lips and showed her determination with her actions.
Gu Shaocheng walked to her, reached out his hand to stroke her face gently.
"I’ll visit when I have time, or we never have to see each other again. You decide."
"I don’t want either option." She bit her lip and glared at him with a sad look in her eyes.
He pulled her into his arms, embraced her, gently patting her back. His voice rang softly in her ear, "Enough, stop making a scene. I promise, I’ll visit when I have time."
She clung to him tightly, "How long is ’when you have time’? Tell me, how long is it?"
"When I’m free."
This was as far as he could compromise.
"Once a day."
He did not answer.
"At least once a week!" She bargained persistently. The woman who knew he wouldn’t take her home was trying her best to secure opportunities to see him: "Otherwise, I won’t let go. I will hold on forever."
