You Are In Love
"Hmm," Peter replied and raised his head to meet Julia's gaze. "O shit!" he thought as he looked at her staring back at him with mixed emotions.
"You also work here?" Julia asked a bit surprised. "Wait, Jason is here too? Where is Jason?" she asked.
Peter opened and closed his mouth and all that came out was 'Errm".
"Sir, please you are needed upstairs," informed the receptionist who was placing the receiver back in its place.
"Errm, Ms Julia, I have to see my boss right now. I will call you and we can talk," Peter said feeling guilty.
Julia stood there saying nothing and watched Peter enter the elevator. She realized she didn't even know anything about who owned the Hotel. She knew Peter's loyalty to Jason and the fact that he would not leave his side.
"This could only mean one thing, either Jason works here too or he owns this place," Julia whispered on her lips and turned her gaze to the elevator which was already moving upstairs.
She looked at the numbers reading at the top and it stopped at the 10th floor. She pressed for the elevator and inside, she pressed the button for the 10th floor. Julia stood in the elevator unsure of what she would do exactly if it was Jason. The elevator doorbell rang and the door opened. She slowly stepped out of the elevator into the open space which goes both ways. Right in front of her was a door. She inhaled deeply and knocked wondering what she would do if she entered and it wasn't Jason.
"I will say I was going to one of the rooms and I used the stairs," Julia thought. "Yeah, that should bill me out," she assured herself and knocked on the door again.
Peter and Jason turned to look at the door at the same time hearing the gentle knock. Peter quickly turned his gaze back to Jason
"Ms Julia saw me," he informed him but Jason said nothing.
"Should I send her away?" Peter asked.
"No, let her in," replied Jason.
Peter walked to the door and opened it smiling awkwardly at Julia who was looking at him with so many questions written all over her.
"You can come in," Peter said moving out of the doorway.
Julia took slow steps into the office asking herself if it was Jason or someone else. She entered the simple but well-decorated office. She sees Jason's signature everywhere as she looks at her environment. Her gaze fell on Jason who was sitting down on the sofa with his focus on his laptop. Julia froze in her spot as her heart skipped multiple beats seeing Jason. The last time she had seen him was when he came to say goodbye to her. It's almost two months or more now. Julia thought as she remained rooted to her spot.
"Jason?" Julia called his name almost in a whisper and Jason turned to look at her.
To Julia, he was looking more handsome than she had last seen him. He was looking much better now. More relaxed. It appears he had recovered fully from the scandals.
"Peter, please leave us," Jason said and Peter nodded exiting the office and closing the door behind him.
Julia remained rooted to her spot and Jason also remained in his seat looking at her calmly. He got up and went up to the dining table and poured two cups of tea.
"Have a seat," Jason said to Julia as he returned to sit down on the sofa.
Julia took slow steps towards the sofa and stopped behind one of the sofas appearing to be shocked and confused.
"You are not going to stand there all day, are you?" Jason asked relaxing on the sofa.
Julia sat down on the single chair and stared at Jason.
"Why did you do this to me?" Julia asked once she patted her lips.
"Did what exactly?" Jason asked calmly.
"That day at my house, you were saying goodbye to me. You were here all this while and you never looked for me, why?" Julia asked with traces of pain in her voice.
The colour of her skin turned red. It was obvious she was suppressing her pain.
"You answered your question. I came to say goodbye," Jason said calmly.
"So I didn't mean anything to you?" Julia asked and Jason went silent.
"She is important to him. She means so much and much more to him." Jason thought but how can he explain things to her without hurting her feelings?
"Please, answer me," Julia asked.
"Julia, I am not right for you and you are not right for me," Jason said.
"So I meant nothing to you?" Julia said suppressing her pain.
Julia was mad at Jason before but staying apart from him made her realize how much she cared and loved him. The day he came to her house, she knew he wanted him back but didn't know where to find him and today he says this to her.
"Jason, you don't love me?" Julia asked a tear dropping from one eye making Jason's heartache.
"Julia, I am sorry but please go home," Jason said coldly and picked up his phone to call Peter.
"Jason, why?" Julia asked staring at him with tearful eyes.
"Julia, please go home I have work to do," Jason repeated and got up from the sofa leaving her alone to sit there.
Peter entered and the first place he looked was where Julia was sitting. He did not see much but in a brief, he saw Julia cleaning her face and he knew immediately Jason said something mean to her. Julia got up and walked out of the office with Jason not as much as sparing her a glance. Peter was the one who turned to look at her.
"Are you paying attention," Jason asked seeing Peter was looking at the door where Julia had left.
"Sir, why are you doing that to her?" Peter asked.
"Peter, you are not my therapist. Let's finish the report I have a lot to do," Jason replied coldly.
"Yes sir," Peter said.
Julia was so hurt she forgot she had used an elevator to the 10th floor. She walked straight down the hallway and used the stairs. She finally made it to the ground floor and walked out of the entrance door. Julia walked out of the hotel compound unaware of being watched.
"Hello," came a deep voice.
"Your target appears to be worried about something," the person said sitting in a car and still watching.
"Your target is working in your stepson's hotel," the person reported. "Okay, as you wish," he replied and ended the call.
The person watching Julia got out of his car and looked around before walking towards the direction of Julia. It was late and the place Julia had wandered off to absent-minded had less light. She was hurt by how Jason treated her. Under the cover of darkness, the man grabbed her from behind and covered her nose and mouth with a cloth. Julia struggled for a while and passed out. He carried her into his car and drove off from his spot. Peter had just gotten to the roadside and was looking around for Julia. He could tell she was very upset when she left the office. He saw the black SUV drive past him and wondered why the driver was driving that fast on a local road. Peter went back inside and sat in his car also driving out of the compound back home. Jason again had decided to spend the night in the Hotel.
At the Southwest Ranches City, Mrs Haward was beaming with smiles as news reached her that Julia had been taken as she requested.
"Mum, Mirenda just got back. We need to send her to Henry's place so we can put our plan in motion," came James's voice.
He was about to leave when he noticed the smiles on his mother's face.
"What is the good news," James asked curiously.
"I have Julia in my custody," Mrs Haward announced and James smiled. "Don't you even think about it and keep your trousers zipped up," she said leaving the living room for the balcony.
Back at Paradise Hotel, Jason was sitting on the sofa in deep thought. He was unhappy about how he treated Julia but he felt it was for the best. He could not understand his feelings for her. He unlocked his phone and called Henry.
In what seemed like forever, he heard a knock on the door and when he responded Henry entered.
"How are you Mr Haward," Henry greeted as soon as he entered.
"I am not a Haward you know that?" replied Jason offering Henry a seat.
"Well, Mr Johan Haward, adopted you so you are a Haward by adoption. You have the full right as a son," Henry replied sitting down on the sofa opposite Jason.
"You called," Henry added.
"Yes, I need to understand what is happening to me," Jason began.
"This is about your wife?" asked Henry.
"Yes," replied Jason.
"Tell me what is happening," asked Henry.
"You know I like her because I dominate her. It has become worse," Jason said.
"How worse?" asked Henry.
"I don't want her to be afraid of me. I want her to be free around me but I guess it's something I can never have because I only feel okay when she's scared," Jason said feeling frustrated.
"So you let her go?" Henry asked.
"Yes," replied Jason.
"Jason, you are in love," Henry said with a smile making Jason look in his direction.
